In particular, Christmas is a particularly dramatic time for Albert Square's residents.
Writing on Reddit, fans reckon the Slater family will be a central focus.
Namely, the fallout from Zoe's (Michelle Ryan) return after 20 years away.
Alfie (Shane Richie) and Stacey (Lacey Slater) are currently aware of this - but Kat is in the dark.
Viewers also predicted a heartbreaking death for soap legend Nigel Bates (Paul Bradley).
The much-loved character returned last Christmas, after a 26-year absence.
However, Nigel has been battling dementia with his condition deteriorating.
A fan commented: "I'm imagining another Dot/Ethel scenario between him and Phil.
"I really wish Nigel could stick around though. He's been great to have back."
Another added: "I think Nigel will sadly pass away, why my heart will break for Phil."
EastEnders legend makes a shock return just days after quitting Walford
Some think there'll be a fierce custody battle between Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) and her ex Max Branning (Jake Wood).
Notorious womaniser Max is returning to Walford after a four-year absence.
It follows son Oscar recently making his own comeback to the BBC soap.
Max is currently unaware that his brief romance with Linda resulted in daughter Annie.
One fan predicted: "Max will battle Linda for Annie."
Kat Moon's EastEnders Timeline
Kat Slater burst onto the Square in 2000 as feisty Kat Slater, played by Jessie Wallace. She is the eldest sister of the Slater family. She soon makes a big name for herself. She is a loud and brash character who is renowned for her leopard print skimpy outfits and loads of red lipstick. She has played the 'tart with a heart' character but has also had an epic love story with Alfie. Here is a rundown of her greatest soap storylines. Kat arrives in Walford as part of the Slater clan, She soon begins a fling with Steve Owen (Martin Kemp) behind the back of his girlfriend Mel Healey.
Kat's sister Zoe (played by Michelle Ryan) was revealed to be her sister after shocked viewers learned she was raped by her uncle Harry Slater as a child and Kat being only 13, was known as her sister.
Kat and Zoe's relationship was turbulent. They both vied for the attentions of Anthony Trueman. Kat and Anthony were together but broke up and Zoe then seduced him. Kat later learns she was pregnant but then has to have an abortion. She is comforted by her boss Alfie Moon but then he realises he is in love with her.
Kat, becomes briefly engaged to Andy Hunter a local crime boss (Michael Briggs) but she jilts him on her wedding day for the true love her life Alfie.
Kat sparks a romance with Alfie Moon and it is the love story of the square. She finally marries Alfie Moon on Christmas day in the Vic.
Alfie takes a loan from Andy which he is unable to repay and then threatens to kill him unless Kat sleeps with him. Their relationship becomes cold and distant.
One of Kat's biggest storylines was helping her daughter cover up the murder of Dirty Den Watts. She left the soap in 2005 sailing into the sunset with Alfie for a new life in America.
Kat returned to the soap in 2010 on the run from a man who she and Alfie conned for money. While Alfie was serving time, she had an affair with Michael Moon who happened to be Alfies cousin and she is now pregnant with his child.
Another Kat storyline focused on the breakdown of her and Alfie's marriage and her separation from Tommy and their twin sons Bert and Ernie.
Kat's union with Phil Mitchell began after months of feuding. She then sleeps with him marries him beginning a war with his ex Sharon Mitchell over the Mitchell empire.
The latest storyline has focused on her son Tommy who idolised Phil and is trying to get back at Kat for breaking up the marriage. Kat meanwhile is back with the love of her life Alfie who is suffering from cancer.
While another argued: "I can't see any court giving Max custody over Linda, now that she's recovered.
"He's had 4 kids and managed to mess it up every time, he's been with countless women so can't provide Annie with stability, family wise.
"I can't see Jack supporting him in it, even if he did I'm pretty sure Denise would shut that down."
Just how exactly Max's return will rock Albert Square remains to be seen.

Olivia Rodrigo's rollercoaster love life - high-profile love triangle to Paddington star
Olivia Rodrigo has had a string of rumoured high-profile romances, many of which have inspired her hit songs, from her fling with Joshua Bassett to her current partner Louis Partridge As one of pop's leading voices on the agony of young love, it's fair to say Olivia Rodrigo has had her share of personal pain. 'Her first album Sour was very much written in the pit of despair, and most of the songs seemed to be about losing the same boy,' says BBC music correspondent Mark Savage. 'She was definitely in that place where you're stuck in a cycle and can't think about anyone or anything else.' With 22-year-old Olivia - who is now in a relationship with Louis Partridge - admitting that Sour was inspired by 'earth-shattering' heartbreak, she told how Drivers License was based on her own journal entries. 'I realised part of the reason I wanted to get my licence so bad was because of… this boy,' she said, sharing an excerpt from her diary. 'I always felt bad about being too young to drive over to see him.' It was widely assumed the boy in question was her ex, High School Musical: The Musical: The Series co-star Joshua Bassett, who was rumoured to have moved on with Sabrina Carpenter after he and Olivia broke up in July 2020. 'She never confirmed any of those stories, but I'm not sure it even matters who the song is about,' says Mark. 'What matters is whether you feel what she's feeling, and with Olivia you absolutely do.' She and Joshua first met in early 2019, playing on-screen love interests Nini and Ricky, when they were 16 and 18 respectively. Regular Instagram selfies sparked speculation they had grown close off-camera, and at one point Olivia said, 'I love him so much. He's my best friend… It was like I wasn't acting.' But by the following summer, it was claimed they had split, with Olivia posting a TikTok video in which she ate a muffin with her song All I Want playing in the background. 'All I want is a good guy / Are my expectations far too high?' she sang, while captioning the clip, 'And that's on failed relationships.' Regardless of the mystery, an earlier relationship with her Bizaardvark co-star Ethan Wacker was said to have ended amicably. Though never confirmed, they were thought to have started dating in 2018, and Ethan, now 23, shared an Instagram post in January 2019 saying, 'Happy 6 months! You are the greatest.' The pair also enjoyed a trip to Hawaii, where Olivia captioned a photo, 'Heaven is a place on earth wit u.' It's thought they parted later that year, but despite deleting all their social media posts, they remained on good terms, with Olivia commenting 'He's the best!' when Ethan announced he was off to university in 2020. The following year, Olivia was reported to be seeing music producer Adam Faze. Again, it was never officially confirmed, but the two attended showbiz events together and were snapped kissing. But it was thought to have ended when Olivia unfollowed Adam on Instagram in January 2022. Soon afterwards, she was linked to DJ Zack Bia, and he attended her 19th birthday celebrations that February. However, by August the romance was said to have fizzled out, apparently due to clashing schedules. 'We hung out, we're both busy and we ended up not furthering our relationship,' Zack said. 'There was never any drama, you know?' When Olivia released fiery comeback single Vampire the following year, rumours spread that it was either about Adam, now 28, or Zack, now 29, since the lyrics suggested friction over a woman older than her. 'Went for me and not her / 'Cause girls your age know better,' she vented. Unsurprisingly, there was no official comment, and Mark says, 'We'll never know who Vampire was about, and that's probably for the best. In this kind of internet-sleuthing era, trying to guess is almost half the fun. From Olivia's point of view, keeping quiet about the subject of her songs helps grow their mystique.' When talking about her second album Guts, Olivia did reveal that a string of bad relationships had influenced the record, saying, 'Maybe I did things that maybe I shouldn't have – dated people that I shouldn't have.' And while on tour, she told fans in LA, 'I met so many people that I've dated on Instagram DM. Some of them a little questionable.' On another occasion, she spoke of a serious red flag when weighing up potential love interests. 'I always ask them if they would want to go to space… If they say yes, I don't date them,' she said. 'I just think if you want to go to space, you're a little too full of yourself.' Thankfully, Olivia's romantic status is currently far rosier, and she has been with British actor Louis Partridge for more than 18 months. After meeting through mutual friends, they were first snapped together in London in October 2023 as they shared a series of nights out. Louis, 22, who starred in the Enola Holmes films and Apple TV+ series Disclaimer, then showed up to support Olivia at iHeart Radio's Jingle Ball in New York that December, singing along with her best pals, Conan Gray and Madison Hu. In August 2024, they made their debut at Venice Film Festival, with Louis tenderly kissing Olivia on the head in one picture. They also enjoyed a lowkey outing to watch Manchester United play Chelsea in November, and surprised locals when they took a trip to north Wales the same month. Although she has avoided talking about Louis publicly, Olivia did post on his Insta page on his birthday last year, writing, 'Welcome to the 21 club angel boy!!!!' Meanwhile, the pair have looked particularly loved-up in recent months, schmoozing at the Grammys in February and the Oscars in March, while in January they joined pals Tate McRae, the Kid LAROI, Iris Apatow and The White Lotus actor Sam Nivola for a couples' break in the Caribbean. Louis was a regular supporter during Olivia's Guts World Tour as well as for her headline slot at Glastonbury, where she was also spotted on his shoulders watching Pulp play. During her Dublin show last April, many noted that she changed the lyrics of So American from 'Think I'm in love' to ''Cause I'm in love'. It was even suggested that the song, which featured on the deluxe reissue of Guts, was a message about their future plans: 'Oh God, I'm gonna marry him / If he keeps this sh*t up,' she sang. After admitting to being 'a hopeless romantic' in the past, Olivia once told how she hopes to tie the knot in the next few years. 'I just wanna be, like, 30, in a cool mid-century modern house with two babies and a husband, writing songs that I like, and having brunch with my girls on the weekends,' she said. But there could be a little more drama before she gets to that stage. 'Last time I interviewed Olivia, she told me, 'I've still got a few heartbreaks left in me,'' Mark tells us. 'I'm not sure she's quite ready to settle down just yet!' Olivia Rodrigo OK! Kanpur: 1857 preview: Fringe show about Indian rebellion has 'unavoidable' parallels with Gaza
It may be set in mid-19th century India, but Niall Moorjani's play Kanpur: 1857 has plenty of contemporary resonance, writes Joyce McMillan Sign up to our Arts and Culture newsletter, get the latest news and reviews from our specialist arts writers Sign up Thank you for signing up! In Indian history, though, it is known as the Kanpur Uprising of 1857, one of the first stirrings of the movement against British colonial rule that would eventually, in 1947, lead to Indian independence; and Scottish-Indian theatre-maker Niall Moorjani – raised in Dundee, now based in London – was already working on the story when that period of colonial history began to take on a whole new contemporary meaning. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad 'It's the story of a people suddenly rising up in a violent insurrection against a brutal colonial power,' explains Moorjani, 'an insurrection that involved some atrocious acts of violence against British women and children; and then of the hugely disproportionate and violent response to that outrage, in which at least 100,000 people are thought to have died. The parallels to the current situation in Gaza were unavoidable; and it made me think even more deeply about how the colonial mindset never changes, through the ages.' Niall Moorjani and Jonathan Oldfield, stars of Kanpur: 1857 The result was Moorjani's play Kanpur: 1857, this year's winner of the Pleasance Theatre's £10,000 Charlie Hartill award, designed to encourage the presentation of significant new plays on the Edinburgh Fringe. Working with fellow performer and co-director Jonathan Oldfield – rising star of BBC comedy, and director of four other comedy shows on this year's Fringe – and the Scottish-Indian musician Sodhi, known as Talking Tabla, Moorjani has created a tense one-hour two-handed drama, backed by Sodhi's music, in which Moorjani's character – an Indian rebel strapped to a cannon, and about to be blown to pieces for his role in the rising – is interrogated by a British officer, played by Oldfield. 'That was a punishment widely used by the British in suppressing the rebellion,' explains Moorjani, 'so the whole thing is closely based on the history of the event. It is a fictional story, though, and it has other elements – one theme of the play is how colonial attitudes appear both at the macro level, in major political events, and at the micro level, in people's personal lives. 'So there is also a love story here, and it's one that involves a relationship between the Indian rebel and a hijra, a member of India's traditional 'third sex', neither male nor female, whose position in Indian society was always respected until the British passed a law against hijras and their culture, a few years after the events in this play. As a non-binary person myself, I'm fascinated by this aspect of Indian culture, and by how the British in India increasingly saw it as incompatible with their colonial rule.' Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad Publicity image for Kanpur: 1857 Despite its fiercely serious themes, though, Moorjani is clear that Kanpur: 1857 is not a solemn show, to be endured rather than enjoyed. 'In fact it's quite a strongly comedic show,' says Moorjani, 'because I think that when you encounter oppressive forms of power, laughing at them is one of the best ways of opposing and challenging them. The truth is that however much pain and horror they inflict, colonial attitudes are ridiculous - they're based on a laughable set of assumptions about superiority, and so on. So why not laugh at them? 'And I should also say how wonderful it has been to win the Charlie Hartill award, and to have that support in bringing this show to the Fringe – it just transforms the Fringe from an unaffordable festival to one where you can pay people, and do the show you want to do. 'The Pleasance have been absolutely fantastic – they've given us all the support they promised and more, and without this award we simply couldn't have done a full run of this show in this form. So it's a wonderful thing that the Pleasance does every year, and there should be more of it. I know other venues also have their own schemes for supporting new work; but the more the better, because with costs soaring every year, it's desperately needed.'
