Phillies acquire hard-throwing reliever Jhoan Duran in trade with Twins, AP source says
A person with direct knowledge of the deal confirmed the move to the AP on condition of anonymity because it was pending a review of medical records.
Duran has 16 saves and a 2.01 ERA in 49 appearances this season, striking out 53 in 49 1/3 innings.
Catcher Eduardo Tait and right-hander Mick Abel were shipped off to Minnesota in the deal. Tait, 18, is batting .255 with 11 homers and 57 RBIs across two minor league stops this year, and Abel, 23, made his major league debut in May.
Philadelphia is battling the New York Mets for the NL East title. The Phillies won the division last year before they were eliminated by the Mets in their NL Division Series.

White Sox INF Miguel Vargas sidelined by a left oblique strain
Eric Samulski explains why Jack Perkins and Jordan Lawlar are two of the biggest winners from the MLB's trade deadline and discusses their respective outlooks for the rest of the season. ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) White Sox infielder Miguel Vargas was scratched from Saturday night's game at the Los Angeles Angels because of a left oblique strain. Vargas was replaced at first base by Lenyn Sosa. The White Sox said Vargas is being further evaluated. Vargas, 25, was acquired from the Dodgers as part of a three-team trade in July 2024. He is batting .229 with 13 homers and 44 RBIs in 106 games. Prior to the matchup with the Angels, the White Sox placed right-hander Dan Altavilla on the 15-day injured list with a right lat strain. Right-hander Owen White was recalled from Triple-A Charlotte. The team also announced that first baseman Ryan Noda was claimed off waivers by Baltimore. The 32-year-old Altavilla is 0-1 with a 2.36 ERA and two saves in 25 games with Chicago this year.

Former Kansas City Chiefs TE Baylor Cupp to sign with the Baltimore Ravens
The Kansas City Chiefs made a few moves after the 2025 NFL draft on May 1st to accommodate incoming rookies. Former Texas Tech Red Raiders tight end Baylor Cupp was one of the releases and has reportedly found a new home during training camp. According to a report from CBS Sports, Cupp is signing with the Baltimore Ravens as they deal with injuries at the tight end position. Starting tight end Isaiah Likely notably went down with a foot injury in camp, requiring surgery. Cupp appeared in one game during the 2024 season but primarily spent the year on the practice squad after initially signing as an undrafted free agent. During Cupp's two seasons at Patrick Mahomes' alma mater, Texas Tech, in 2022 and 2023, he appeared in 24 games, tallying 23 catches for 246 yards and four touchdowns. The Chiefs have seen immediate progress from their 2025 undrafted free agent tight end, Jake Briningstool. Lynx acquire DiJonai Carrington from Wings for Diamond Miller, Karlie Samuelson, second-round pick
The Minnesota Lynx acquired guard DiJonai Carrington from the Dallas Wings, the teams announced on Sunday. Going to Dallas in exchange are forward Diamond Miller, guard Karlie Samuelson and the Lynx's 2027 second-round draft pick. Minnesota already had the WNBA's best record by a rather significant margin at 24-5, six games ahead of the reigning champion New York Liberty. Now, the Lynx have bolstered their defense by adding Carrington. The five-year veteran was named to the All-Defensive first team last season, in addition to winning the league's Most Improved Player award. This season with the Wings, Carrington averaged 10.4 points, 5.1 rebounds and 1.1 steals in 20 games. She was Dallas' third-leading scorer behind Paige Bueckers and Arike Ogunbowale. If she maintains that production, Carrington will be Minnesota's fourth-leading scorer and rebounder. Carrington, 27, was in her first season with Dallas after playing four years with the Connecticut Sun, who drafted her in the second round of the 2021 WNBA Draft. Last year, she averaged 12.7 points and five rebounds per game on her way to winning Most Improved Player honors while the Sun finished with the WNBA's second-best record at 28-12 before losing the Lynx in the playoff semifinals. This story will be updated.
