Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai's love blossomed on sets of Hum Dil Chuke Sanam, shares co-star: ‘Both had moony eyes'

Indian Express2 days ago
It's been nearly 25 years since Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam graced the silver screen, yet the film continues to be remembered not just for its cinematic brilliance but also for the real-life romance that unfolded behind the scenes. Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai, the lead pair of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 1999 romantic drama, fell in love during the making of the film. Their chemistry was undeniable, and according to co-star Smita Jaykar, who played Aishwarya's mother in the film, that off-screen affection significantly enhanced the film's emotional intensity.
In a recent interview with Filmymantra, Smita opened up about the couple's dynamic on set. 'Their affair flourished there. And it helped the film a lot. Both of them had those moony-moony eyes, and romance was showing on their faces. That worked very well for the film,' she said, adding that their real emotions translated into authentic on-screen performances that elevated the storytelling.

Reflecting on Salman Khan's personality during those days, Smita Jaykar described him as 'quite a brat,' but also 'a very nice, large-hearted person.' She noted that while he was known for his temper, she never witnessed him get angry on set. 'People tend to exaggerate when it comes to film personalities. We don't always know the other person's side—what they did to provoke that anger,' she pointed out.
Smita also had kind words for Aishwarya Rai, calling her naturally beautiful and grounded. 'Without makeup, too, she looked so pretty. Very humble, very grounded—at least at that time when I knew her,' she said.
Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam remains the only film in which Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai played love interests, although they briefly shared screen space in cameo appearances in Dhaai Akshar Prem Ke and Hum Tumhare Hain Sanam. While their real-life romance was short-lived, it left a lasting impression on fans and became a memorable chapter in Bollywood history.

Was Katrina Kaif Rude To Zareen Khan At Race Premiere? Her Reaction In Old Video Goes VIRAL

Last Updated: Zareen Khan revisits her fangirl moment with Katrina Kaif from Race premiere. Zareen Khan, often noted for her resemblance to Katrina Kaif, has fond memories from her days as a starstruck fan. Though she later debuted opposite Salman Khan in Veer, her journey began with watching her idol up close. She recently shared a nostalgic video from the Race premiere—long before she entered films—where a radiant young Zareen can be seen asking Katrina for an autograph. Alongside the clip, she shared, 'Oh my Goddd! Came across this video, and the memory is still so fresh. I clearly remember this moment … it's from the premiere of the movie Race. Thanks to a friend who got us passes, we were able to experience the magic firsthand. At that point, I was just a wide‑eyed fan, never imagining I'd one day be a part of the film industry." She continued in the post, 'But look at how happy I am in this video, a total fangirl … grinning from ear to ear, getting an autograph from the woman I thought was and is breathtakingly beautiful! #BlastFromThePast #Nostalgia #ZareenKhan." The video, which Zareen Khan shared as a sweet throwback, has now taken a surprising turn online—with netizens dissecting every second of Katrina Kaif's reaction. What was meant to be a wholesome fangirl moment is now going viral for all the wrong reasons. Many viewers believe Katrina's expression shifted the moment she spotted Zareen, with some even claiming she looked anything but thrilled. While Zareen beamed with excitement, Katrina appeared distant, avoiding eye contact and barely reacting. Speculation in the comments section is also running wild. Fans are wondering if Katrina already knew Salman Khan was planning to launch Zareen—who, at the time, was being called her doppelganger—in Veer. Zareen Khan began her Bollywood journey with Veer, where her resemblance to Katrina Kaif quickly became a talking point. Often labelled as Katrina's lookalike, Zareen found herself typecast early on. While the comparisons initially drew attention, they gradually became a hurdle in her career. Many within the film industry hesitated to cast her, viewing her more as a reflection of someone else rather than a distinct performer. This perception limited her opportunities and overshadowed her efforts to establish her own identity. Over time, as the lookalike tag faded, Zareen was finally able to step out of the shadow and be recognised on her own merit. First Published:

JYP's Bold Fashion Statement at Waterbomb 2025: A K-Pop Legend's Pink Vinyl Look

When K-pop Legends Go Wild - JYP's Outfit Sends Fans Into a Frenzy If you thought only idols in their twenties could break the internet with their fashion, think again. Park Jin Young, the legendary JYP himself, just crashed the Waterbomb 2025 party in a way that only he can. On July 4th, JYP took to social media and dropped two photos that had everyone talking - and not just for his music. He showed off a pink see-through vinyl halter top that left absolutely nothing to the imagination. The bold, transparent design was a total head-turner, making fans wonder if JYP is secretly competing with the new-gen idols for the "most extra" outfit award. Alongside the pics, he cheekily wrote, "I've prepared the outfit you all wanted, and my body's ready too. See you tonight!" And just to keep it real, he even posted a photo of his weight - 77.65 kg - because why not? For Indian youth used to seeing Bollywood stars obsess over six-packs, JYP's "here's my weight, deal with it" attitude feels refreshingly honest and relatable. Pink Vinyl, Fan Banter, and the Legend of the 'Plastic Pants' Of course, fans did what fans do best: they flooded his comments with wild suggestions. "Can't think of anything but plastic pants," one wrote, while another demanded, "Bring out the LED plastic pants!" The plastic pants have become a running joke among K-pop fans, almost like how Indian fans keep bringing up Govinda's iconic outfits from the 90s. JYP, never one to miss a beat, shot back with his trademark wit: "Honestly, plastic is too obvious, so I wanted to try something else. Why are you all like this?" It's the kind of playful banter that makes him such a legend - he's in on the joke and loving every minute of it. Waterbomb 2025 - Where Fashion, Fun, and K-pop Collide The Waterbomb Seoul 2025 festival is running from July 4th to 6th at the KINTEX Global Outdoor Stage in Goyang. It's basically the K-pop version of Holi - but with water guns, wild outfits, and a lot more neon. If you've ever wanted to see your favorite stars get drenched while wearing the most outrageous clothes, this is the place. JYP's pink see-through look is already the talk of the festival, proving once again that age is just a number and confidence is everything. It's the kind of energy Indian youth can totally vibe with - a reminder that sometimes, you just have to own your quirks and have fun with it.
