Angel Reese opens up about cyberbullying from fans after 2023 national championship game

Fox News4 days ago
Chicago Sky All-Star Angel Reese opened up about some of the cyberbullying she's experienced since she played for the 2023 LSU Tigers women's basketball national championship team.
Reese said in an interview with ESPN that she's since started a campaign to raise awareness about cyberbullying since then.
"I've experienced it. It was hard for me in the beginning," Reese told ESPN's Elle Duncan.
"After I won the national championship, my whole life changed, and that was the first time I had seen negativity like that on social media. I thought I had a huge following before, but it skyrocketed to millions. It was bigger than basketball when they were finding my address, my car. I had to change my whole lifestyle.
"It doesn't bother me as much anymore just because I feel like I've built a thicker skin, but not everybody has a thick skin. And that's why I think players always come up to me and ask me, 'Are you OK? How are you doing?' I don't really know what's genuine, but I'm starting to open up and branch a little bit."
Reese's 2023 national championship game was highlighted by her incident with Caitlin Clark. It started the on-court rivalry between the two women's basketball stars.
Reese said she's gotten closer to the All-Stars on her team this year, more so than in 2024 when it was the WNBA team going up against the U.S. Olympic team before the Paris Games.
"This is the closest I've been to these players this year. Last year, I wasn't that close. When I was in Phoenix (the host of the 2024 All-Star Game), I was very quiet," she explained. "I didn't talk to anybody. And that's what I really love about this league, being able to have sisters.
"I don't have any sisters. Being able to have sisters here who really, really care about me and knowing I can take that and transform that into the community. There's a lot of cyberbullying going on. Not everybody is as strong as I am, and I was like, 'Why not flip a negative into a positive and give back?' I try to give back as much as I can."
Reese will play in her second WNBA All-Star Game. She's averaging 14 points and 12.6 rebounds for the Sky.

White House Gives 'The View' Chilling Warning After Joy Behar Claims Trump is 'Jealous' Of Obama

Who knew the attempted dismantling of the First Amendment would be kind of dumb? The White House emailed an intimidating statement to Entertainment Weekly on Wednesday after the outlet reached out for comment about remarks Joy Behar made on 'The View' about President Donald Trump. During Wednesday's episode, the women of 'The View' discussed Trump's accusation that former President Barack Obama participated in a 'coup' against him in 2016 — an allegation Obama later called 'outrageous.' In response to Trump's claims, Behar immediately brought up Jan. 6, 2021, in which a horde of Trump supporters participated in an insurrection on the Capitol to overthrow the results of the 2020 presidential election. 'The thing about [Trump] is he's so jealous of Obama,' Behar said. 'Because Obama is everything that he is not — trim, smart, handsome, happily married, and can sing Al Green's song 'Let's Stay Together' better than Al Green. And Trump cannot stand it. It's driving him crazy.' In response to EW's request for a comment on Behar's remarks, the White House called the daytime talk show host 'an irrelevant loser suffering from a severe case of Trump Derangement Syndrome.' It also alleged that the show has 'hit the lowest ratings' in recent years. The statement went on to say Behar 'should self-reflect on her own jealousy of President Trump's historic popularity before her show is the next to be pulled off air.' The Trump administration's ominous warning against 'The View' follows CBS's announcement last week that the 'Late Show with Stephen Colbert' would be ending in May 2026. The network said it would not be finding a new host for the three-decade-long franchise, which was initially helmed by David Letterman. CBS claimed the decision was 'purely a financial' one, pointing to the general decline of late-night audiences. The news that the 'Late Show' was being canceled altogether occurred shortly after Colbert criticized CBS's parent company, Paramount, for agreeing to pay $16 million to settle a ridiculous lawsuit with Trump over a pretty standard edit made by '60 Minutes.' That settlement came amid a pending multibillion-dollar merger between Paramount and Skydance Media, one that requires approval from the Federal Communications Commission. Brendan Carr, the chairman of the FCC, was a Trump selection. On Tuesday, Carr complained on X about the 'left's ritualist wailing and gnashing of teeth' over Colbert's cancellation. 'They're acting like they're losing a loyal DNC spokesperson that was entitled to an exemption from the laws of economics,' Carr wrote.

Pitt coach Pat Narduzzi jokes that he expects to play Bill Belichick and North Carolina in ACC title game

Pitt coach Pat Narduzzi is setting high expectations for Bill Belichick's North Carolina tenure. Narduzzi complimented Belichick's career on Wednesday at ACC media days and joked that he expected to face the Tar Heels for a spot in the College Football Playoff at the end of the season. 'I'll be shocked if he doesn't have success,' Narduzzi said of Belichick. 'I don't have a crystal ball, I'm no genius over here. He's a heck of a football coach. But it takes players and it takes coaches. It takes a program together, it takes everyone moving in the same direction … I expect them to be in the [ACC] championship game against Pitt this year.' Belichick was hired ahead of the 2025 season after North Carolina parted ways with Mack Brown. It's the first college coaching job for the former New England Patriots coach after he had spent the entirety of his career in the NFL. The Tar Heels went 6-7 in 2024 after losing their bowl game and haven't won an ACC title since 1980. Pitt, meanwhile, won the 2021 ACC title with Kenny Pickett at quarterback. [Join or create a Yahoo Fantasy Football league for the 2025 NFL season] Neither team is a favorite to win the conference in 2025. Pitt started the season 7-0 — and beat North Carolina 34-24 in that stretch — but lost its last five games of the season before losing the GameAbove Sports Bowl in six overtimes to Toledo. UNC's odds to make the ACC title game are +1000 at BetMGM while Pitt's are +1600. Clemson is -175 to appear in the title game, while Miami is favored to be the Tigers' opponent at +125. The Belichick question in Narduzzi's media scrum wasn't the only one Narduzzi fielded on Wednesday. He was even asked about Belichick at the end of his main news conference and had a question back for the reporter who made the Belichick inquiry. "Is this a Pitt question, or is this a North Carolina question? Bill Belichick, one of the greatest coaches to ever coach the game," Narduzzi said. "Won six Super Bowls with the New England Patriots. I've enjoyed conversations with him, whether it be at Amelia Island or in Zoom calls with ACC coaches. He's a tremendous football coach, really smart. "Again, he adds a lot of flavor and excitement to the ACC. When you look at Bill Belichick coming to the Atlantic Coast Conference, it just tells you how attractive our conference is."

Need to start building a team. There's a chance that I run more races next year if we have a third charter on the docket and have a sponsor to bring along, team members to groom, a crew chief to get reps, a driver to get reps. There's a lot of scenarios that are in play. I'm hopeful I can keep going. 'I certainly don't want to feed you guys a line of BS here.
