🎥 Stunning curling effort enough to lift Girona past Wolves
Following a goalless first half, it was two moments in the span of five minutes that undid the visitors in Spain during an entertaining second half.
Yangel Herrera opened the scoring after redirecting a cross into the box before the goal of the night secured the victory beautifully. A stunning curling effort from Joel Roca found the top right corner as the stadium erupted and he celebrated with fans, arms outstretched.
Wolves, wanting to give some extra legs a few minutes during pre-season, then made five changes. One man entering the game was Jhon Arias, who made his first appearance for the club.
And it was quite the individual moment, too, as he pulled one back 12 minutes after coming on. Arias broke into the box and fired the ball high beyond the goalkeeper, but his late efforts were not enough to inspire a turnaround, seeing things end 2-1.

Stuttgart working on permanent deal for Arsenal's Fabio Vieira
VfB Stuttgart are working on a deal to sign attacking midfielder Fabio Vieira from Arsenal. The German club have approached their Premier League counterparts about Vieira. The 25-year-old was loaned to Porto last season but Stuttgart's interest is over a permanent move. An agreement has yet to be reached but talks are ongoing, with Arsenal likely to seek a respectable price for a player they recruited for up to €40million in the summer or 2022. The Portugal international is into the final two years of his contract at the Emirates Stadium. Vieira came through the ranks at Porto and joined Arsenal in a deal worth an initial €35million plus €5m in add-ons in June 2022. Advertisement He made 22 Premier League appearances in his first season in north London but just three from the start, and similarly struggled for game-time in the following campaign, starting twice in the top flight. Vieira returned to Porto on a season-long loan in August 2024, and was a regular as they finished third – behind champions Sporting CP and Benfica.

Chelsea confident of selling €27.5m midfielder – Premier League teams are best bet
We wrote about Matt Law's thoughts on the London is Blue podcast over the weekend, where he talked about various players who Chelsea are trying to sell, including midfielder Lesley Ugochukwu. Despite a real lack of rumours recently, the Telegraph writer is convinced that Chelsea are getting interest in the former Rennes man. Chelsea 'expect' sale of unwanted midfielder despite lack of rumours Lesley Ugochukwu in action for Chelsea. 'I don't have a club for you, but I'm told there's an expectation that he will leave permanently,' Law said on the podcast. 'They expect to sell him rather than loan him, at this stage. That would mean that they must be in talks with clubs, I don't have the name of the clubs but they think a sale is going to happen on Lesley.' You can see Law speaking in the clip embedded here: Premier League the most likely destination for Ugochukwu While Law doesn't have the names to hand, it's pretty easy to speculate about what sort of clubs could be interested. Chelsea paid an eye-watering €27.5m for the midfielder, and will want a similar sum back. They may be happy to take a smaller sum up front, but then ask for bonuses and sell-ons which at least potentially take the fee above what they paid. Back in June we heard whispers about Valencia and Hamburg being interested. It's hard to see either of them paying more than €15m for the midfielder – perhaps a loan with an option to buy is the best way for us to try to tgry Premier League mid-table teams are likely our best shot for moving him on at a good price. While Southampton had a dreadful season and it wasn't easy for him on loan there, he did show in some games that he's got plenty of potential, and there's always demand for athletic midfielders with quality on the ball and some experience in the top flight.
