Genelia Deshmukh Believed She ‘Didn't Matter' Anymore Before Sitaare Zameen Par: ‘I Thought…'
Genelia Deshmukh recently starred in Aamir Khan's Sitaare Zameen Par, and it was not just any other film for her. Sitaare Zameen Par marked her first major role in a Hindi film after about 13 years, and the love she is receiving has left her stunned. Genelia Deshmukh believed that people must have forgotten her, but the reality was the exact opposite.
In an interview with Hindustan Times, Genelia shared, 'I didn't do much work for the last 10 years, maybe for friends, a song here and there. I did two-three films for OTT. I thought people would forget me and I didn't think I mattered. But it's refreshing to hear people say all this—that they want to see more. It's an Aamir Khan film, so of course it would have had a lot more eyeballs. I didn't think that somewhere in that takeaway, I also exist. It's been the best compliment—that people want to see more of me. As an actor and human being, if someone wants to see you a lot more, it's a very special place that not everyone gets."
She further continued and spoke about how Aamir Khan wanted to cast her and met Riteish to ask if she was working nowadays. 'Aamir asked me to meet RS Prasanna, the director. I auditioned for the role and got it. I know most actors will feel that after 20 years, 'Why audition?' But I think it's a great way of getting a film, so I am very excited that I did it," Genelia revealed.
Sitaare Zameen Par is considered a spiritual successor to Aamir Khan's 2007 classic Taare Zameen Par. The original film followed the moving story of Ishaan, a dyslexic child played by Darsheel Safary, and touched hearts across the nation with its sensitive portrayal of learning disabilities. It also featured Tisca Chopra and Vipin Sharma.
On the other hand, Sitaare Zameen Par is a sports comedy-drama film produced by Aamir Khan and Aparna Purohit. Aroush Datta, Gopi Krishna Varma, Samvit Desai, Vedant Sharma, Ayush Bhansali, Ashish Pendse, Rishi Shahani, Rishabh Jain, Naman Mishra, and Simran Mangeshkar make their Hindi cinema debut with the film.
The film also boasts a strong supporting cast with seasoned performers like Dolly Ahluwalia, Gurpal Singh, Brijendra Kala, and Ankita Sehgal.

Was fortunate enough to see the legend Martina Navratilova play in her last Wimbledon final amongst other epic matches before it was all about an insta post."
