Congress' Mashaal Rally in Gadchiroli on June 12
Nagpur: Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) will hold 'Mashaal Rally' in Gadchiroli on June 12, to create awareness about 'social, political and agrarian' issues. Party spokesperson Atul Londhe said, "We will focus on farmer issues apart from what our leader, Rahul Gandhi, wrote about the state assembly polls being rigged in Maharashtra last year.
"
The rally will be spearheaded by state Congress president Harshwardhan Sapkal who is currently locked in a battle of words with his counterpart in BJP Chandrashekhar Bawankule over allegations of Maharashtra assembly polls being rigged.
On Saturday, Congress neta Rahul Gandhi wrote an article alleging poll rigging by BJP in Maharashtra, and picked Kamptee constituency as a case study. Since Bawankule represents that constituency, a war-of-words between him and Sapkal ensued.
With Sapkal arriving on Monday in Nagpur, this verbal duel is likely to escalate.
Congress' rally is being keenly watched by political observers as local body polls are due in a few months. It was Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Yatra which created quite a stir and traction for the party ahead of Lok Sabha polls. Many leaders in the party believe that such long yatras or at least rallies which connect the party with public directly is a key element in poll strategy to regain lost ground.

Railway convention raises alarm over rising accidents, urges govt action

The Railway Minister informed Parliament in 2022 that 469 passengers were killed and 1,275 injured in train accidents during 2014-19. "The trains running in suburban areas are experiencing accidents too. Hundreds of track maintainers died. More than 450 trackmen died in . Ladli Behna aid to be hiked on Rakshabandhan: CM
Bhopal: CM Mohan Yadav has announced that the monthly assistance under the Ladli Behna Yojana will be increased on the occasion of Rakshabandhan , with a long-term goal of raising it to Rs 3,000 over the next five years. At present, beneficiaries receive Rs 1,250 per month. Addressing a public gathering in Jabalpur district on Saturday, Yadav also announced a Rs 1,400 crore irrigation project, the Gomukh reservoir, which will benefit over 25,000 farmers across Jabalpur and Mandla districts. The project will bring irrigation to nearly 15,000 hectares in Jabalpur and 10,000 hectares in Mandla. Yadav said the reservoir will enable irrigation of 14,900 hectares in Jabalpur district and 10,100 hectares in Mandla district. He added that the tribal region is being gifted with institutions like the Sandipani School and the ITI, which shall play a transformative role in the lives of students and help shape a brighter future for them. "Odisha is no longer just a minerals and metals hub. We are becoming a diversified industrial powerhouse, where opportunity flows from port to plant, and from cities to every aspirational district," the CM said during a meeting with leading industrialists and entrepreneurs in the city. "We are not merely sanctioning projects; we are grounding them. We are not making promises; we are delivering results — at scale, with speed, and with purpose," Majhi said. Mapping the industrial growth story, he said, "In just one year, we approved over 200 large and mega projects. Odisha now stands for credibility, competitiveness and commitment to progress."
