Condé Nast announced on Thursday it is searching for a new editorial chief at Vogue U.S., a role previously held by the fashion publication's long-standing editor, .
The company, alongside Wintour, is on the hunt for a new head of editorial content, a role which helms the daily operations of the American edition of Vogue, according to a memo sent to staff.
The new hire will report to Wintour, who will continue to oversee the American edition of the fashion bible as global editorial director of Vogue, as well as chief content officer at publisher Condé Nast, where she oversees Wired, Vanity Fair, GQ, AD, Condé Nast Traveler, Glamour, Bon Appetit, Tatler, World of Interiors, Allure and other titles in the publisher's fold.
The new head of editorial content role at Vogue U.S. will join the heads of editorial content for Japan, China, India, Taiwan, U.K., France, Spain, Germany, Italy and the Middle East.
The fashion matriarch was appointed Vogue U.S. editor-in-chief in 1988, after having served in the top spot at British Vogue.
The search for her Vogue deputy is the latest move in parent Condé Nast's reorganization across its editorial structure.
In 2021, Condé Nast revealed changes across its editorial structure, with each Vogue edition appointing a head of editorial content sitting under Wintour, expanding the editor's role, and fashion jurisdiction globally. Aged 75, the hiring of new U.S. editor is the first signs a succession plan is being put in place for the fashion matriarch.

US Treasury signals G7 deal excluding US firms from some taxes
"After months of productive dialogue with other countries on the OECD Global Tax Deal, we will announce a joint understanding among G7 countries that defends American interests," he said in a series of social media posts. Nearly 140 countries struck a deal in 2021 to tax multinational companies, an agreement negotiated under the auspices of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). This deal has two "pillars," the second of which sets a minimum global tax rate of 15 percent. "OECD Pillar 2 taxes will not apply to US companies," he wrote, adding that officials will work to implement the agreement across the OECD-G20 Inclusive Framework in the coming months. US President Donald Trump has pushed back on the global tax agreement, with Bessent on Thursday pointing to advances on that front. "Based on this progress and understanding, I have asked the Senate and House to remove the Section 899 protective measure from consideration in the One, Big, Beautiful Bill," Bessent added, referring to a bill currently before US lawmakers that would slash social program spending for tax cuts. Section 899 has been dubbed a "revenge tax," allowing the government to impose levies on firms with foreign owners and on investors from countries deemed to impose unfair taxes on US businesses. The clause sparked concern that it would inhibit foreign companies from investing in the United States.
