Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Chairman of the Sharjah Executive Council (SEC), presided over a meeting of the Council on Tuesday at the Ruler's Office.
Sheikh Abdullah Bin Salem Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Deputy Chairman of Sharjah Executive Council, and Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Deputy Chairman of the Executive Council, were present.
During the meeting, the Council discussed various topics aimed at enhancing the services provided by local departments to the community. They focused on ensuring these services meet the needs of residents in different areas.
One of the key points discussed was the rental process in Sharjah City.
The Council reviewed reports that demonstrated the functioning of the rental system and the improvements made to simplify the rental application process.
They highlighted that these processes are now available on various digital platforms, making it more convenient for people.
Additionally, the Council reviewed proposed changes to the law regarding judicial fees in Sharjah. They agreed to send these suggestions to His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, to finalise the process of making this law official.
Recently, Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed chaired a meeting of the Council held at the Ruler's Office.
In light of the significant growth in the real estate sector in Sharjah and the increasing interest from investors in buying and selling real estate units, SEC approved a reduction in the sale and purchase fees for transactions that will be executed at the ACRES Real Estate Exhibition 2025.
The sale fee will be set at 0.5% for real estate developers, while the purchase fee for UAE citizens and GCC nationals will be 1%, and for other nationalities, it will be 2%.
SEC issued a decision regarding the enforcement procedures at the Rental Disputes Center, which included the establishment of an Enforcement Department to operate under the presidency and supervision of the Enforcement Judge at the Center's headquarters.
This department is responsible for monitoring the execution of judgments and enforcement decisions issued by the Enforcement Judge.
The decision also organised various legal provisions such as appeals against enforcement decisions, the appeal of enforcement decisions, enforcement, suspension of enforcement procedures, notifications, coercive measures, inventory, guardianship, public auction sales, outsourcing enforcement services, and execution and publication.
Additionally, SEC appointed Judge Dr. Mohammed Obaid Al Kaabi, Chairman of the Sharjah Federal Primary Court, as the judicial supervisor of the Rental Disputes Center Sharjah.
The Council also issued a decision regarding the regulation of collecting donations and endowment funds in Sharjah, the provisions of which apply to:
1- Government entities or charitable organisations established by a decree to collect or provide donations in the emirate, including in its free zones.
2- Endowment funds in the emirate, for the purpose of establishing new endowments or funding existing endowments to ensure their sustainability, development, or reconstruction.
The decision organised the collection of donations, which must be approved by the Department of Islamic Affairs, through legal provisions related to methods of collecting donations, prohibitions on such collections, conditions for granting donation collection permits, and the obligations of the entity authorised to collect donations.
Regarding endowment funds, the decision included provisions for requesting permits to collect or receive endowment funds, the conditions for applicants seeking to collect endowment funds, endowment banks, the obligations of authorised entities to collect endowment funds , and the prohibitions on collecting endowment funds. The decision also encompassed legal provisions related to final rulings, the suspension or closure of bank accounts, violations and administrative penalties, judicial enforcement, executive decisions, and their implementation and publication.

Abdullah Bin Zayed receives Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister

GCC condemns Iran's attack on Qatar, reaffirms regional solidarity
The Ministerial Council of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) has denounced the Iranian missile attacks on the Al Udeid air base in Qatar, describing it as a "blatant violation of Qatar's sovereignty", during an "extraordinary meeting" in Doha. It was attended by foreign ministers of the GCC member states, including Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, as well as Jasem Mohamed AlBudaiwi, GCC Secretary-General. It took place amid heightened regional tensions and served as a platform for the Gulf states to demonstrate their unified stance, stating that the strikes violated Qatar's airspace, international law and the United Nations Charter. Discussions at the Council meeting included the latest regional and international developments, particularly the need to strengthen joint Gulf action and uphold regional security through peaceful means. Sultan Bin Ahmed honours Sharjah PhD Award winners
Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and President of the University of Sharjah, attended the ceremony to honour the winners of the 22nd edition of the Sharjah Award for the best PhD thesis in administrative and financial sciences in the Arab world. The event took place on Tuesday afternoon at Al Biruni Hall, University of Sharjah. Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed honoured the winners in the administrative science category. Dr Islam Ali Al Hadidi from Egypt secured first place for his thesis titled 'The impact of humble leadership on the performance and behaviours of frontline employees in the hospitality and tourism sector.' Dr Fatima Saeed Saif Al Dhahuri from the United Arab Emirates won second place for her thesis titled 'A study of the underlying causes of workplace ostracism and its impact on employee silence, with the pivotal role of ethical leadership.' In the financial sciences category, Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed honoured Dr Ahmad Husein Obayya from Egypt, who was awarded first place for his thesis titled 'Research on the effects of female representation on the quality of internal control: New insights from listed companies in Egypt and China.' Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed, in his capacity as President of the University of Sharjah, also honoured the award's sponsors. He highlighted that winning research contributes to improving the administrative and financial landscape in the Arab world and represents a qualitative addition to the Arabic academic library. Dr Agamy revealed that the current edition of the award received wide participation, with 131 thesis submissions from 16 Arab countries. These included 55 in administrative sciences, 69 in financial sciences, and 7 in other fields. Following a rigorous and impartial evaluation process, the committee selected the two best theses in administrative sciences and one in financial sciences. Since the award's launch in 2001, a total of 55 winners have been recognised, all of whom represent a vanguard of Arab researchers who have contributed to the development of administrative and financial thought in the region. The ceremony featured visual presentations by the winning researchers, each of whom gave a detailed overview of their award-winning thesis. These presentations highlighted the research problems, objectives, methodology, key findings, and recommendations. The researchers expressed their sincere gratitude to the university president, and the award organisers for their support and encouragement. WAM
