Mounties in Langley say a pedestrian was seriously hurt in a vehicle crash Wednesday evening.
Police were called to the area of 208 Street and 44 Avenue just after 8 p.m., according to a news release from the detachment.
The Langley RCMP asked drivers to avoid the area as they investigated. Meanwhile, the victim was taken to a local hospital with injuries police described as serious.
Anyone who witnessed the crash or has dash camera video is asked to call the detachment at 604 -532-3200.

Border services agents in the Greater Toronto Area arrested the traveller. The traveller and the cocaine have been transferred to the RCMP, the CBSA says. The agency did not specify exactly when the arrest took place or if charges have been laid.

DESCHAMBAULT LAKE — One person is dead and several are in custody after a police shooting in northeastern Saskatchewan. RCMP say no officers were injured in the morning shooting at Deschambault Lake, a remote community about 140 kilometres from Flin Flon, Man. They did not give further details about the shooting or the person who died. An RCMP spokesperson says details will be shared when they're available. Mounties say they expect an increased police presence in the community as the investigation continues. The Saskatchewan Serious Incident Response Team, the province's police watchdog, has also opened an investigation. Person shot dead by RCMP officer in Deschambault Lake, Sask.

A person is dead after being shot by an RCMP officer in Deschambault Lake, Sask., Friday morning. "This investigation is unfolding and we are unable to publicly identify or provide further details about the deceased individual at this time," Saskatchewan RCMP said in a news release Friday. No officers were injured, the release continued. Police say several people were taken into custody in relation to the incident. The initial call for service to Deschambault Lake RCMP is currently being investigated, according to officials. Police say there will be increased police presence near Oskatuc Avenue in Deschambault Lake and are advising people to avoid the area as they continue to investigate. The incident is also being investigated by the Saskatchewan Serious Incident Response Team (SIRT), the province's police oversight agency. Police say they will provide further information as they are able to and advise the public if they identify an imminent safety risk.
