Police have arrested a teenager suspected of being involved in five pellet gun incidents that left one person with injuries.
Police in Abbotsford say they have arrested a teenage suspect in connection with a series of drive-by pellet gun shootings earlier this week.
On Wednesday evening, the Abbotsford Police Department received five reports from victims saying a white vehicle approached them, 'followed by either the visible production of a firearm from within the vehicle or the sound of shots being fired in their direction.'
One person sustained a minor injury from being struck by pellets, according to police.
On Friday evening, police said they had arrested the 17-year-old driver of the suspect vehicle.
Police said the teenager's parents are co-operating with the investigation, which is ongoing.
'The Abbotsford Police Department extends its sincere thanks to the public and media for their valuable assistance, which played a key role in the swift apprehension of the suspect,' the update reads.

Mission RCMP seek public's help in locating wanted 47-year-old woman

A warrant has been issued for the arrest of Julie Matthew, according to the Mission RCMP. Police in Mission, B.C., are requesting the public's help in finding a woman wanted for a number of offences, including assault. Julie Matthew was recently convicted of robbery, assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm, and possession of stolen property in the B.C. Supreme Court, and was required to return to court for sentencing but failed to appear, Mission RCMP said in a statement Wednesday. The offences relate to an incident that occurred in the Fraser Valley community of Deroche in 2022. Police have since issued a warrant for Matthew's arrest. 'Julie is known to have ties to the communities of Hope, Langley and Surrey, but may have since travelled elsewhere,' Mounties said in the statement. Matthew, 47, is described by police as having a small, mono-colour tattoo on the left side of her neck. Anyone who believes they have seen Matthew or has any information that could help police locate her are asked to call Mission RCMP at 604-826-7161, and quote file number 22-4299.

2 charged with arson after Etobicoke boxing club fire: police

Two men have been charged with arson in connection with a fire at Kingsway Boxing Club on Norseman Street in Etobicoke, Toronto police said Wednesday. Police were called about a break in around 4 a.m. and say the fire was burning by the time they arrived. Nobody was injured, and the fire has since been extinguished. The boxing club is closed for at least a week due to "extensive" fire damage, according to a statement sent to club members. "Our team is strong, and our commitment to our community remains unshaken," said Jennifer Huggins and Virgil Barrow in the joint statement. Both accused, 30 and 18, were arrested Wednesday morning and charged with breaking and entering, as well as arson, police told CBC Toronto via email. They are due in court Wednesday, police said. The Ontario Fire Marshal has been notified.
