Orioles Announce Return of Key Outfielder from Injured List Ahead of Mariners Series
Orioles Announce Return of Key Outfielder from Injured List Ahead of Mariners Series originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
The Baltimore Orioles' 2025 season has been a lot different compared to what we saw from them last season.

In 2024, they were looking like one of the best teams in baseball and were just three games behind the New York Yankees in the AL East.
Now in 2025, Baltimore has struggled immensely, sitting in last place in their division with a 22-36 record.
With a pitching rotation that's statistically one of the worst in baseball, it seems that they are starting to find the groove of things, winning six of their last eight.

Injuries have been a common theme for the Orioles, and key players like centerfielder Cedric Mullins and Ryan Mountcastle have been the recent additions to the injured list.
As the Orioles look to continue getting back on the winning track, they will travel to Seattle to take on the Mariners in a three-game series that starts on Tuesday.
Orioles announce the return of outfielder Colton Cowser
As the team travels to Seattle, they will bring along a huge addition that hasn't seen much action in 2025.

Outfielder Colton Cowser hasn't seen the field since the Orioles' season-opening series against the Toronto Blue Jays.
He slid head-first into first base in the March 30 game and ended up fracturing his thumb.
After missing the last 54 games, Baltimore reinstated the 25-year-old from the injured list on Monday.
Cowser's played in 183 total games for the Orioles since debuting in 2023 and has a career batting average of .226, an on-base percentage of .314, and an OPS of .725 while hitting 25 home runs, 74 RBIs, and stealing 10 bases.

After a 2024 season that saw Cowser finish second in AL Rookie of the Year honors – losing to Yankees starting pitcher Luis Gil – he will look to continue his dominance in the MLB.

He's expected to join the Orioles on Tuesday, hoping to help spark a turnaround to Baltimore's season and push into playoff contention by October.

Eagles DC Vic Fangio Breaks Silence on CJ Gardner-Johnson Trade
Eagles DC Vic Fangio Breaks Silence on CJ Gardner-Johnson Trade originally appeared on Athlon Sports. In the midst of the offseason, the Philadelphia Eagles shocked the league and dominated the headlines by trading safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson to the Houston Texans for offensive guard Kenyon Green and a fifth-round pick. Advertisement This was a decision that scratched many heads, as Gardner-Johnson was a key piece of the Eagles' defense that held the Kansas City Chiefs to 22 points in their Super Bowl LVIII win. Philadelphia Eagles safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson© Bill Streicher-Imagn Images At the NFL annual meetings, Eagles general manager Howie Roseman made more sense of the decision, noting how many high-value players they have on the roster. "We got eight guys who are making $15 million or more — we have from the 2022 to 2024 drafts, we have eight starters who are on the Super Bowl team, none of those guys have long-term contracts," Roseman said. "In those drafts, probably have five or six players that will be competing for starting jobs." Advertisement Juggling a roster with several players on long-term contracts and several who are not, Roseman wanted to avoid a situation where he would need to part with 20 guys in one offseason. "We've been very fortunate to be aggressive in keeping our guys and signing guys in free agency, and it's also got to align with the draft and having young players," Roseman said. On Tuesday, defensive coordinator Vic Fangio confirmed Roseman's statements, stating that he agreed with the final decision. Roseman was likely aiming to avoid a contract dispute with Gardner-Johnson in preparation for paying his younger players. Cam Jurgens, Jordan Davis, Nakobe Dean, Nolan Smith, Jalen Carter, Quinyon Mitchell, and Cooper DeJean are all on rookie contracts. Carter is also projected to reset the defensive tackle market next year. Advertisement The Eagles also made extending Zach Baun, Saquon Barkley and Lane Johnson their top priorities, each of which requiring a pretty penny. Philadelphia also let several other key contributors walk due to financial constraints, including Milton Williams, Josh Sweat and Isaiah Rodgers. Roseman also admitted that he was too sentimental toward retaining players after the Super Bowl LII win, and he didn't want to make the same mistake again. The Eagles' aim was to maintain a strong foundation, and Gardner-Johnson fell victim to the process. Regardless, Gardner-Johnson joins an incredible secondary unit in Houston consisting of Derek Stingley Jr. and Kamari Lassiter. Travis Kelce, Jason Kelce Make Big Announcement on Tuesday
Travis Kelce, Jason Kelce Make Big Announcement on Tuesday originally appeared on Athlon Sports. After attending the Kansas City Chiefs' Organized Team Activities (OTAs) last week, Travis Kelce has been nowhere to be found in the second session of the team's voluntary OTAs this week--at least in terms of the photos the Chiefs have been posting from their practice sessions. Advertisement Kelce, however, has been able to put some work in for his extracurricular activities off the field of late, which includes his highly popular podcast with his brother, Jason Kelce. On Monday, "New Heights" took to social media to make an exciting announcement about the show's next episode, which is set to drop on Wednesday. "We've got LITERALLY our biggest guest ever on tomorrow's show … any guesses? 👀NEW EPISODE OUT TOMORROW!!!" the post read. View the original article to see embedded media. The post did not indicate who the "biggest guest ever" is, as the show decided to tease the fans a bit by asking them to make their guesses. However, based on how both Travis and Jason Kelce were laughing and had such big smiles on their faces in the photos, it seems that it's going to be an extremely fun episode. Advertisement In its last show, "New Heights" had NHL legend Wayne Gretzky as its guest, and it appears that Travis and Jason Kelce are intent on making even more waves in Wednesday's show. Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce, right, and his brother Jason Blaze-Imagn Images Travis Kelce, in particular, is going to be much busier in the coming weeks/months in terms of his commitments with the Chiefs. The All-Pro tight end should still be able to attend to his podcast, among other things, but Kelce is intent on coming back with a vengeance for Kansas City in what could potentially be his final year in the NFL. Georgia Tech football blasted for 7-win season rings reveal
Georgia Tech football blasted for 7-win season rings reveal originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The only thing more surprising than Georgia Tech finishing the 2024 football season at 7-6? The team celebrating it with custom rings, and the internet isn't having it. Advertisement Recently, Georgia Tech unveiled flashy rings to commemorate a campaign that saw the Yellow Jackets finish fourth in the ACC and lose the Birmingham Bowl to Vanderbilt, 30-27. Social media exploded with ridicule. 'Embarrassing. I mean, this deserves mockery beyond any nerd mockery,' one X user wrote, while another posted, 'Oh god participation trophies have made it to D1 college football.' The 2024 season had its moments. Georgia Tech did pull off an upset over then-No. 10 Florida State and stunned Miami with a last-second touchdown. But fans and critics quickly pointed out that Florida State finished just 2-10, a far cry from the resume-boosting win the ring suggests. Advertisement Instead of celebrating progress under head coach Brent Key, many saw the ring reveal as tone-deaf. While recruiting gains and competitive flashes were evident, so were lapses, like losing four of their last six games, including an eight-overtime heartbreaker to Georgia and the bowl defeat that capped it all. Another commenter posted, 'Who needs a participation trophy when you can get a participation ring?' The rings include dates of victories, including the Florida State and Miami games, prompting fans to ask: Are we just putting any win on jewelry now? Rings have historically been reserved for conference titles, playoff berths, or national championships, something rival Georgia knows all too well after winning the SEC and two CFP titles in recent years. Advertisement Georgia Tech fans, it's time for some tough love. Want rings to mean something? Expect more. Demand more. The Yellow Jackets have the brand, the city, and the talent to be great, but greatness doesn't come from celebrating seven wins. It comes from striving for more.
