Channel Seven's brutal swipe at Sam Armytage ahead of the Logies… as the VERY handsome man she will bring as her date is revealed

Daily Mail6 days ago
Samantha Armytage has been brutally snubbed from the 2025 Logie Awards, which will be broadcast by her former employer Channel Seven on Sunday night.
The 48-year-old, who is going to host Nine's new series The Golden Bachelor, was reportedly set to present an award at the ceremony but the idea was shut down.
Channel Nine had nominated their new recruit Samantha to present the award but the idea wasn't approved by organisers of the event, according to The Daily Telegraph.
Samantha is still expected to attend the Logies with the star of The Golden Bachelor, Barry 'Bear' Myrden.
Her date is rumoured to be the 50-something hunk who will be looking for love in the upcoming dating series.
From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop.
While the outing is designed to be a promotion for the hotly-anticipated series, Sam's return to the public eye with a glamorous man on her arm is the perfect comeback following her painful divorce.
Sam split with husband Richard Lavender late last year, just shy of their four-year anniversary.
The television personality has been single and ready to mingle ever since, and has recently undergone a glamorous makeover ahead of her hosting role on The Golden Bachelor.
Barry 'Bear' Myrden is an infrastructure engineer and passionate sailor from Sydney, who has been handpicked as the leading man for the upcoming Australian adaptation.
Barry, a father-of-three and a respected professional in the tech industry, currently works in Data Centre Management for Woolworths Group.
With decades of experience in his field, he has held senior roles at major companies like Macquarie Bank and the NSW Port Authority.
But while his career has flourished, sources close to Daily Mail Australia revealed his personal journey has been marked by tragedy, as Barry is widowed.
'Bear is always complaining that his boys are saying that he is bringing around the wrong kind of girls that are just too young and hot for him,' one friend revealed.
'We were always saying that he needs to be put on a show like MAFS, so seeing him up for the Bachelor role is no surprise.'
Despite his corporate background, Barry is far from your typical office-bound executive.
A passionate sailor, he has competed in high-profile races like the Sydney to Hobart.
Unlike The Bachelor and The Bachelorette which feature young men and women, The Golden Bachelor is targeted at a more mature audience eager to watch how those who have already experienced great love and loss are chasing companionship in their next chapter.
'Bear is not your usual reality TV type,' an insider told Daily Mail Australia.
'He's charming, intelligent and has really lived a full life. He's been through love, loss and now he's ready to open his heart again. Women are going to adore him.'

S Club 7 singer exits Celebrity SAS early: ‘I'm done'

Hannah Spearritt and Louie Spence withdrew from Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins during the very first episode of the new series. S Club 7 singer Spearritt quit before the second challenge, saying: "I'm done, I'm sorry, I've reached a point." In a pre-recorded interview which was played after her withdrawal, she said: 'I don't think I'll go on the first day', adding she 'wouldn't forgive myself'. Former TV dancer Spence withdrew during the second challenge after throwing a grenade into a building with hostages still inside, admitting he lacked conviction. The gruelling series began with a daunting 26-foot plunge into water and a swim as the initial trial.

Married At First Sight's ‘hottest bride ever' Evelyn Ellis suffers painful-looking wardrobe malfunction at the Logies

Former Married at First Sight star Evelyn Ellis suffered what appeared to be a painful-looking wardrobe malfunction during Sunday night's Logie awards. The 29-year-old stunned on the red carpet in a glimmering maxi gown. But some fans pointed out that Evelyn had a case of 'toe-overhang' in her towering platform shoes. To make matters worse for the personality, it appears some beads broke on her frock, leading to stray threads hanging from her hemline. On So Sydne y's Instagram page, several fans focused on the MAFS star's choice of footwear. (@sosydneyau) Former Married at First Sight star Evelyn Ellis suffered what appeared to be a painful-looking wardrobe malfunction during Sunday night's Logie awards The short clip revealed her shoes appeared to be a tad too small for the brunette beauty. 'Can confirm Evelyn bought them and is walking in them,' the caption said. 'Couldn't get the heels in the correct size?' one viewer commented, adding, 'Nothing more embarrassing than toe overhang.' 'Could have got the next size up,' another user posted. Meanwhile, other commented on what appeared to be a loose thread on the hemline of Evelyn's dress. 'A cotton is hanging .... she looks gorgeous,' one user said. However, an eagle-eyed fan had a different explanation for the fashion 'spoil'. 'A string of beads broke in her stunning dress!' they commented. Still, Evelyn's jaw-dropping look managed to turn heads on Sunday's Logies red carpet. She left fans speechless during a glamorous photoshoot alongside fellow MAFS star Duncan James. Evelyn poured her enviable figure into a glittering gold Ryan Patros gown that hugged every curve. The show-stopping number featured a daring, sheer ruched design, a sultry draped neckline and a structured bodice that highlighted her toned physique. Her chic brunette bob was styled in glossy, face-framing waves, while her makeup was pure Hollywood glamour. She stood proudly beside her boyfriend Duncan, 39, who looked every inch the leading man in a tailored Hugo Boss tuxedo, crisp white shirt and classic bow tie. The chemistry between the duo was undeniable as they posed arm-in-arm, with Evelyn resting a hand on Duncan's cheek in one loved-up snap. Fans were quick to praise Evelyn's transformation on social media, with many declaring she looked 'absolutely flawless' and 'even more stunning than on MAFS'

What are Nigella Lawson, Robert Irwin and a cartoon kangaroo doing in Australia's latest round of tourism ads?

So Steph, what do Robert Irwin, Nigella Lawson, and a cartoon kangaroo have in common? Wait, is this a joke? No not at all, I'm genuinely asking. Oh, sorry. The answer is a new round of ads spruiking Australia as a tourist destination to potential international visitors. Is this the latest from Scott Morrison's old workplace? Do you mean Tourism Australia? Yes, the former PM and former director of Tourism Australia liked to claim he was responsible for the 'where the bloody hell are you?' ad that featured Lara Bingle (and was banned from the UK for being too risque). This new round of ads feature a bunch of personalities from places where the agency intends them to air. So the ads featuring actor Yosh Yu will show in China, those with Japanese comedian Abareru-kun will air in Japan, those featuring influencer Sara Tendulkar will run in India and Nigella Lawson will front the ads showing in the UK. I assume the UK don't think Nigella Lawson is too risque. Wait, so is Robert Irwin supposed to be appealing to … other Australians? No, he'll be shown in the ads for Americans, blasting over sand dunes in a four-wheel-drive, chasing an emu that's stolen an American tourist's phone. Tourism Australia's current managing director, Phillipa Harrison, says the ads having international stars as well as locals in them will 'create bespoke invitations for five markets'. Sign up for the fun stuff with our rundown of must-reads, pop culture and tips for the weekend, every Saturday morning Isn't Robert Irwin a wildlife warrior though? Ripping it up through the sand dunes isn't great for the environment, and I don't think you're supposed to chase emus. No, but these ads also feature a multilingual cartoon kangaroo, Ruby the Roo, who you may remember from a previous round of government tourism propaga … I mean, campaigns. I don't think they're going for realism here. The general gist of it is that travellers will tell their friends and family back home about their wild and unbelievable adventures in Australia. How much is selling the magic of these wild and unbelievable adventures going to cost us? Sign up to Saved for Later Catch up on the fun stuff with Guardian Australia's culture and lifestyle rundown of pop culture, trends and tips after newsletter promotion About $130m. The argument for it is that tourism is a significant part of the Australian economy: around 360,000 Australian businesses rely on tourism and the government estimates that the number of international arrivals will hit 10 million in 2026 and 11.8 million in 2029. When he announced the campaign, the tourism minister, Don Farrell, called tourism 'the lifeblood of so many communities right around the country' and claimed the previous campaign 'struck a chord with visitors, with Ruby the Roo bounding into the imagination of countless guests'. Please tell me that they've at least stopped leaning into cliches about Australia when trying to sell us to the world? It's an extension of the 'Come and Say G'day' campaign from 2022. I regret to inform you that this version features pavlova, beaches and a riff on the old Crocodile Dundee 'shrimp on the barbie' line. I can hear you groaning from here. Didn't Tourism Australia also once have an ad where Kylie Minogue sang a song of mateship? Let's not go there.
