4 AISATS executives seen ‘partying' days after Ahmedabad crash fired

Officials in the know of the development said the services of the four executives – chief operating officer Abraham Zachariah, two senior vice-presidents and the head of training – were terminated for their direct involvement in the party that appeared to have been hosted days after the Ahmedabad plane crash.
AISATS is a joint venture between Tata Group-owned Air India and Singapore's SATS Ltd, a global provider of gateway and food solutions. In India, the company offers a range of airport services, including ground handling and cargo operations.
In a statement, AISATS said it stood in solidarity with the families affected by the tragic loss of AI 171 and expressed regret over the lapse in judgment shown in the internal video.
'At AISATS, we stand in solidarity with the families affected by the tragic loss of AI 171 and deeply regret the lapse in judgment reflected in a recent internal video. The behaviour does not align with our values, and firm disciplinary action has been taken against those responsible as we reaffirm our commitment to empathy, professionalism, and accountability,' its spokesperson said.
The statement didn't mention when the party took place.
The backlash began after a video posted on X on June 20, appeared to show AISATS staff dancing to music during an in-office celebration. Many people criticised the party that appeared to have been hosted just days after the London-bound Air India 171 flight crashed just outside Ahmedabad airport, killing around 260 people.
The video sparked outrage on social media, with many users calling the event insensitive and disrespectful to the victims' families still mourning their loss.
The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) is currently investigating the crash of AI-171.

A budding partnership between OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and legendary iPhone designer Jony Ive to develop a new artificial intelligence hardware product has hit a legal snag after a US judge ruled they must temporarily stop marketing the new venture. Adani Group brand value zooms 82% to $6.46bn
The Adani Group has emerged as the fastest-growing Indian brand this year, with its brand value up by 82 per cent, according to a new report. The Group's growth is attributed to aggressive and integrated infrastructure focus, surge in green energy ambitions, and increased brand equity across key stakeholders, said the 'Most Valuable Indian Brands 2025' report by London-based Brand Finance. The value of the Adani brand surged from $3.55 billion in 2024 to $6.46 billion, marking a substantial gain of $2.91 billion -- a testament to the Group's strategic clarity, resilience and commitment to sustainable growth. The increase in value this year is greater than the entire brand valuation reported in 2023, helping the Adani Group climb to rank 13 from 16 last year, according to the report. The company has seen record-breaking revenue, unprecedented growth and historic profitability. Addressing the 33rdAnnual General Meeting (AGM) of Adani Enterprises Ltd (AEL) this week, Gautam Adani, the Chairman of the Adani Group, said: 'In FY25, our numbers were strong. Across all our sectors, we did more than just scale. We created impact, inspired change, and most importantly, deepened our national commitment'. In terms of consolidated numbers, at the Group level, revenues grew by 7 per cent, EBITDA by 8.2 per cent, and Net Debt-to-EBITDA ratio remained healthy at 2.6x. Total revenues were Rs 2,71,664 crore, and adjusted EBITDA was Rs89,806 crore. 'Our capital investment across businesses is set to break all records. We anticipate an annual capex spend of $15-20 billion for the next five years. These are not just investments in our Group, but investments in the possibilities for doing our part to build India's infrastructure,' said Gautam Adani. The AI 171 crash in Ahmedabad killed 270 people, including 241 passengers. The Boeing 787-8, en route to London Gatwick, struck a medical hostel complex shortly after takeoff. One passenger survived the tragedy. Data recovered from black boxes Meanwhile, Indian authorities have successfully extracted initial data from the two black boxes of the doomed Air India flight. On Thursday (June 26), India's civil aviation ministry reported that investigators are working to determine the cause of the crash. The crash-protected memory unit from the front recorder has been retrieved and its data downloaded. The ministry stated that analysis of the cockpit voice recorder (CVR) and flight data recorder (FDR) is ongoing. International Civil Aviation Organisation given observer status in probe India has also decided to give the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) observer status in the ongoing probe. Earlier on Friday, reports emerged that the ICAO's request was rejected by the Indian authorities. Following internal deliberations, Indian authorities accepted the request. 'The Indian authorities are approaching the probe in a transparent manner,' an official said, as quoted by the report.
