Punjab Police seized a huge amount of drugs in a major operation to crackdown on cross-border narcotics smuggling.Approximately 60.302 kilograms of heroin, valued at around Rs 300 crore, was seized near the international border in Barmer, Rajasthan.The operation was carried out by the Amritsar Commissionerate Police in close coordination with the Border Security Force (BSF) and Rajasthan Police. Two brothers-in-law allegedly raped the wife of a BSF jawan on multiple occasions and blackmailed her using obscene videos, police here said. One of the brothers-in-law has been arrested, police said on Monday. The complainant told the police that after she got married, she lived in a separate house with her mother-in-law, outside her village. Her husband was in BSF, so he would often be on duty. The survivor told the police that whenever her mother-in-law went to her residence, both her brothers-in-law would enter her house (outside the village) and rape her. They made videos of the act and used them to blackmail her into submission, police said. She said that when her husband returned home on leave, her brothers-in-law showed him the videos. She claimed that her in-laws beat her and her husband. They also tried to kill her by strangulation, police said. The accused also threatened to post the videos online, police added. The Jahanabad police station in-charge Manoj Kumar Mishra said that on the complaint of the victim, an FIR was registered against seven persons, including the mother-in-law and father-in-law, for rape and assault under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Information Technology Act. "One of the accused brother-in-law Hariom has been arrested. The police are searching for the remaining accused. Every possible effort is being made to get justice for the victim," Mishra added.

Hyderabad NGO worker moves Telangana HC against order to house sex trafficking accused; cites risk to victim safety, seeks legal protection
HYDERABAD: Prajwala, a Hyderabad-based NGO working for rehabilitation of sex trafficking victims, has approached the Telangana high court challenging a lower court order directing the NGO to accommodate a woman it claims is a trafficking accused and not a victim. It also sought the court's intervention to direct officials to ensure anyone accused of trafficking is not treated as a victimand housed in any rescue home. The petition was filed against a May 18 order by the III additional chief metropolitan magistrate of Hyderabad. Sending such a person to our rescue home runs contrary to the objects and purposes of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, 1956. The magistrate passed this order despite our objections,' he said. The NGO counsel alleged that some individuals accused of trafficking were earlier housed in rescue shelters alongside survivors. When the bench wanted to know the state stance on the issue, it found that no one was there to answer its queries. The bench, while expressing its displeasure, posted the case to July state counsel later claimed that the bench recalled the order summoning the DGP and law secretary. Sigachi Factory Disaster Claims 35 Lives; Families Await News of Missing Loved Ones
Hyderabad latest news: In the morning hours of Monday, an explosion at Sigachi industries has left at least 42 people dead and many more injured. Prime Minister Modi sent his condolences and announced a compensation package for the victims. The toll due to the Telangana factory tragedy at a multi-storey chemical plant in Medak district of Telangana rose to 35 till Tuesday morning, with several workers injured and many others missing. The rescue operations continued for the second day on Tuesday and officials said the toll was likely to increase as the rescue teams were still removing debris to search for some people trapped under the debris. 'In a major industrial accident, 35 people were killed and several are injured,' the health department in the southern state of Telangana said in a statement. Officially confirmed 35 deaths so far in the government area hospital at Patancheru, where post-mortem was being conducted. Workers in the plant are from different states including Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Jharkhand, Odisha, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal. As per the directions of state health minister Damodar Raja Narsimha, health officials sent a team of forensic doctors to the area hospital to identify the bodies. Forensic Science Laboratory has also made available its DNA analysis team to aid in the identification. Telangana factory blast death toll of nearly 200 people from fire services, SDRF and NDRF teams have reached the site and are involved in the rescue operations. Dryer malfunction behind Telangana factory blast On Monday morning, a building was brought down to rubble in Pashamylaram blast at the Rs 500-crore Sigachi Industries. Investigators believe a dryer in the quality control unit of the plant malfunctioned and led to the blast. 'General manager A Loganan, who was in-charge of attendance, was also killed. It has become difficult to know who was in the building,' a fire official said. Loganan had just got down from his car when the blast ripped through the factory premises located around 50km from Hyderabad.
