NWSL expansion team, the Denver Summit, acquires its first player in a trade with the Pride
The Summit will start play in the National Women's Soccer League next season. As part of the deal announced Wednesday, Watt was loaned back to the Pride for the rest of this season.
Watt, a 28-year-old native of Colorado Springs, has been with the Pride since 2022, making 73 appearances across all competitions with the club and scoring eight goals with six assists. She also had stints with the North Carolina Courage and the Seattle Reign.
The announcement comes a week after the Summit announced that Nick Cushing would be the team's head coach.
'It's an incredible honor to be the first player in Denver Summit FC history,' Watt said in a statement Wednesday. 'As a Coloradan, this opportunity means so much to me, not just to play the game I love, but to represent the place that shaped who I am in front of the people that mean the most to me. I'm proud to help lay the foundation for something special alongside Nick Cushing, and I can't wait to be a part of building a team that this city can be proud of.'
Watt was signed by Denver through the 2028 season. Orlando receives $75,000 in expansion allocation money and $35,500 in intra-league transfer funds as part of the trade.
'Ally has been an exceptional contributor to our organization, and when the opportunity arose to facilitate her return to Colorado — where she can help establish professional women's soccer in her home state — we knew it was the right decision,' said Pride sporting director Haley Carter. 'The loan structure through 2025 allows us to retain her valuable contributions on the field as we pursue our championship goals, while also enabling her to be part of Denver's inaugural NWSL season."
The Summit and the expansion Boston Legacy will bring the NWSL to 16 teams next year.

The Denver Broncos are going to have to make some tough decisions when they build a 53-man roster later this month. After wrapping up preseason on Aug. 23, the Broncos will have until Aug. 26 to finalize a 53-man squad. Two of the crowded positions that could lead to headaches are running back and defensive end. At running back, the Broncos have six players competing for three or four spots. On the defensive line, there appear to be seven strong contenders for six spots. 'We're definitely deeper," Denver coach Sean Payton said when asked about the team's depth compared to a year ago. "You guys have written about tough decisions, tough decisions at running back, tough decisions at receiver. Those are all indications that there is a little bit more depth maybe than in years past. Generally speaking, that creates that higher level of performance, that competition. "Then how do we keep trying to give these guys opportunities where it gives us more of an exposure? We're not even halfway, and I mean that. We're not halfway. ... How do I get [Pat] Bryant a few receptions in the game, how do I handle the running back rotation this week different than last week? The same way with us on defense at certain positions. Those are all things that we discuss during the week and try to manufacture.' J.K. Dobbins and second-round draft pick RJ Harvey are presumably safe at running back. That leaves Jaleel McLaughlin, Tyler Badie, Blake Watson and Audric Estime competing for the final two spots. On the defensive line, Zach Allen, D.J. Jones, John Franklin-Myers, Malcolm Roach and third-round pick Sai'vion Jones are all safe. That leaves Jordan Jackson and Eyioma Uwazurike competing for one final spot. It would be hard to part with either Jackson or Uwazurike. Someone spent $12,000 on a Jay Cutler football card in 2025 — why?
On Saturday, Aug. 9, 2025, a Jay Cutler football card sold in an eBay auction for $12,107, a new record sale for one of his cards. Not only was it a new record, but it more than doubled the previous record for a Cutler card which had stood since June 2007, ahead of his first full season in the NFL. From there Cutler went on to make the Pro Bowl in 2008 and have a 12-year NFL career with the Denver Broncos, Chicago Bears, and Miami Dolphins, but the question remains… why is one of his cards selling for $12,107 after attracting 44 bids from 19 bidders in the year 2025? Advertisement Well, the first piece of the puzzle is the specific card that sold: his 2012 Panini Prizm Black Finite card, the rarest parallel of his base card from that set. Only one was produced and though it's not a rookie card (it's from his seventh NFL season), it is from Panini's very first Prizm Football set, which over the years has become one of the most popular annual sets in the sports card industry. As a result, many cards in that inaugural 2012 edition have taken on added value since it was the first one. In 2023, Adrian Peterson's 2012 Prizm Black Finite card sold for just under $9,000 (a record for one of his cards). Last year, Clay Matthews' 2012 Prizm Black Finite card sold for $3,000 (a record for one of his cards). In January, Philip Rivers' sold for $2,500 (not a record for one of his cards, but still one of his highest priced). The most coveted Black Finite card from the 2012 Prizm set, Tom Brady's, has never publicly surfaced, though. It could be inside an unopened box or tucked away in a private collection somewhere. If it ever does hit the market, it would command a large sum. In 2023, two of his 2012 Prizm Gold cards, of which only 10 were produced, went to auction — one sold for $132,000 and the other sold a month later for $156,000. In June, Washington Commanders owner Josh Harris bought Jayden Daniels' 2024 Prizm Black Finite rookie card for $500,000 with the intention of displaying it at Northwest Stadium.
