Kim Kardashian can't sleep at night after robbery hell without huge life change

Daily Mirror25-06-2025
Appearing in a Paris court last month, Kim Kardashian revealed the impact of her 2016 robbery as she's had to make a huge life change to finally feel safe at night.
Traumatised by her 2016 ordeal, Kim Kardashian recently revealed she "can't sleep" without a security team nearby.
'I thought I was going to die.' That's how Kim Kardashian described the moment masked intruders tied her up, gagged her and held her at gunpoint inside a luxury Paris hotel.

On the night of October 2nd 2016, five men, disguised as police, stormed into her room during Fashion Week, making off with an estimated $10 million worth of jewelry (£7.5m) - including a $4 million diamond ring gifted by Kim's then-husband Kanye West - and fleeing by bicycle.

But what they left behind was far more lasting: fear, trauma and a permanent scar on the life of one of the world 's most recognisable women.
'It was terrifying and life-changing and I don't wish that kind of terror on anyone - to think you could be killed or raped - I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy,' Kim told a Paris court last May.

Now, BBC Three delivers a gripping retelling of the heist, featuring never-before-heard witness accounts from friends, police, security experts and journalists in The Kim Kardashian Diamond Heist.
The documentary lays bare the brazen crime, security failures and the devastating emotional aftermath that reshaped Kim's life - from the incident itself to her confrontation with the men responsible for her trauma.
Nine years after the heist, Kim told the court that 'everything changed' after that fateful night. She grew increasingly terrified of going out and said that she employs up to six people to guard her house at night. 'I can't even sleep at night if I know there's not multiple security,' she said.

In court, Kim faced down ten men accused of planning and carrying out the robbery. Eight of them were ultimately convicted of kidnapping and violent theft, though most received mild sentences due to age or health.
Ringleader Aomar Aït Khedache received an eight-year prison sentence with five-year suspended, while three other defendants - Yunis Abbas, Didier Dubreucq, and Marc-Alexandre Boyer - were sentenced to seven years, also with five years suspended. Due to these suspended sentences, none will serve any time in prison.
Yunis Abbas, 71, wrote a book about the heist in 2021 and had previously served 20 years for burglary. One person was also found guilty on a weapons charge and fined, while two were acquitted.
The Kim Kardashian Diamond Heist also scrutinises serious security lapses - from minimal protection in a high-profile location to the risks of real-time social media. Experts suggest Kim's lavish Instagram posts may have been a beacon to criminals.
For Kim, it's time to move forward. 'This is my closure and my opportunity to put this to rest after everything I've been through,' she told the court, adding that her responsibility was to 'tell my truth and hope this doesn't happen to anyone else.'

There's nothing worse than male trouser trouble

First, there was the bizarre tale of the poor unfortunate man who, after dropping his trousers on the District line near Upton Park, was set upon by an outraged gang, beaten and then forcibly expelled from the Tube. And then, just a day or so before, the perpetually beleaguered Gregg Wallace caused a similar degree of opprobrium when he put out a video in which he addressed allegations of bad behaviour involving a lack of trousers. What on earth is going on? On Instagram, Wallace announced, with a touch of the Beowulf poet: 'Would you like the truth about the stories regarding me taking my trousers down, listen! There are no findings in the investigation that I took my trousers down in front of anybody.' He ended his video by repeating, sternly: 'Any claim that the report says differently is not true.' So there we have it. Gregg Wallace may be many things, but he is not a trouser-dropper – unlike the anonymous semi-flasher on the Underground, who definitely was, has now been detained for his own good under the Mental Health Act. A warning, perhaps, to those of us who, now that the weather is becoming disconcertingly warm once again, might fancy a little impromptu chino removal on public transport for our comfort. Yet in truth, the idea of taking down one's trousers is an innate source of English fascination that has been a staple of comedy since Chaucer and Shakespeare, and is likely to remain so until the day we are all wafting round in unisex kimonos. The reason why trousers – more than any other form of attire – are imbued with such comic potential is that the average English gentleman associates them with his dignity. Lose them, and his sang-froid tumbles to the floor along with the fabric. It was no wonder that the Aldwych farces and Carry On films all made considerable weather of their stiff, not-so-buttoned-up characters being compelled to cover their reduced dignity in increasingly absurd circumstances as their breeches sally off into the sunset. I would like to say that the loss of trousers is something that only occurs on stage and in film, but alas, I can testify that it is all too real. In my home city of Oxford, I have seen many cruelly abandoned pairs of formal trews in the street, presumably after a heavily misspent night involving fine wine. Nor is this limited to the young. A friend tells how, after a wild evening on Clapham Common with some newfound friends resulted in his being debagged, he cycled past the scene of the crime the next day to see his once-beloved slacks fluttering mournfully in the wind – the mute observer to whatever unspeakable things had happened in that particular spot. As for the shame's memorialisation in memoir, another friend – a leading light in the entertainment industry – has confessed that, should he ever put finger to keyboard and write his autobiography, it could only be called A Life Without Trousers, so torrid have his exploits in this field been. I would dearly love at this point to confess that I know nothing of such things, but unfortunately I recently had my own narrow brush with infamy. A few months ago, I was strolling along Hampstead Heath with my family when, to our horror, a tree fell just behind us, nearly causing grave hurt, or worse. We scrambled to safety just in time, with no worse injury than a few cuts and bruises – but as I realised that we were largely unharmed, I also realised that the sudden impact on the ground had sent my kecks cascading round my knees. To be found dead and trouserless on Hampstead Heath: now that, I fear, is the end that many of my enemies would wish on me. But I intend to give them the dissatisfaction of continuing to live – with the bottom of my trousers rolled – for many a well-furnished year to come, God willing.

Disney+ to stream live European football each weekend in major schedule shake-up

Top Spanish clubs like Real Madrid and Barcelona are heading to Disney+ as the streamer lands a three year deal with La Liga. Disney+ has announced a major shake-up in its schedule, including the addition of live European football. From Saturday (August 16), the streamer will kick off its live weekend coverage of the Spanish La Liga. This means some of the biggest names in club football will be shown on the platform, including the likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona and Atlético Madrid. The first game to air on Disney+ will see Valencia host Real Sociedad at the iconic Mestalla Stadium, with kick off set for 8:30pm UK time. La Liga games are available with a regular Disney+ subscription, which starts at £4.99 per month on a rolling monthly plan that can be cancelled at any time. Customers can also get the equivalent of two months free by paying for a year upfront on the Standard or Premium plan. Sky Sports' football plan is 66p a day ahead of Premier League and EFL season 'I tried Dr Hilary Jones-backed way of treating allergies and it worked' This plan offers higher video quality up to 4K UHD and HDR, and 12 months for the price of 10. Production and commentary during La Liga games will be provided by ESPN, with a line-up of familiar voices including Real Madrid and Liverpool legend Steve McManaman leading the team. He features alongside former Arsenal and West Ham midfielder Stewart Robson, while broadcasters Ian Darke and Rob Palmer will alternate play-by-play duties throughout the season. Disney's La Liga coverage is part of a new three-year deal and comes as the streamer also becomes the home of the UEFA Women's Champions League across Europe from October. However, football fans hoping to tune into the new Premier League season will need to secure a Sky Sports subscription, with the broadcaster increasing its coverage to 215 games from this season. According to Disney+, La Liga is the most-followed international football league in the UK. This is boosted by high-profile signings of English players, including Jude Bellingham and Trent Alexander-Arnold, who both play for Real Madrid, while Marcus Rashford kicks off his loan spell at Barcelona. Popular Spanish players also add to the league's allure, with homegrown talents including Lamine Yamal (Barcelona), Nico Williams (Athletic Club) and Alex Baena (Atlético Madrid). However, fans should keep in mind that Disney+ will not broadcast every La Liga fixture, with only select Saturday night games selected for broadcast. Karl Holmes, General Manager, Disney+ EMEA, said: 'At Disney, we celebrate storytelling that moves and excites. From the cinematic scale of FX's Alien: Earth to the sharp wit of Only Murders in the Building and the action-packed suspense of Lucasfilm's Andor, our customers know they're in for something special. Now, with LALIGA joining the line-up, they can experience that same excitement on the pitch with weekly matches featuring legendary clubs like Real Madrid and Barcelona and stars like Jude Bellingham and Trent Alexander-Arnold as part of their Disney+ subscription.' Alongside La Liga, the Disney+ library spans everything from documentaries to critically acclaimed drama, comedy to classic animation. Also on the way are new sci-fi series Alien: Earth (August 13), the second instalment of National Geographic docuseries Limitless: Live Better Now with Chris Hemsworth (August 15) and season five of Only Murders in the Building (September 9).
