Rory McIlroy landed in second place on the ladder - and pocket a cool ten million bucks
While all eyes were on the final putts dropping at Sedgefield Country Club as players at the Wyndham Championship on Sunday night - it was Scottie Scheffler - and McIlroy - laughing all the way to the bank thanks to the restructured FedExCup bonus payouts.
Cam Young claimed his first tour win in the last qualifying event on Sunday evening before this week's playoffs begin at the St Jude Classic.
Scheffler, who skipped the event entirely, clinched the regular season No.1 spot, banking $18 million without striking a shot.
The world number one banked $8 million from topping the Comcast Business Tour Top 10 and another $10 million from the revamped FedExCup bonus pool.

McIlroy, meanwhile, held firm in second place on the points list and was the only other player to earn an eight-figure payday on Sunday after also opting to sit out the Wyndham Championship.
The Northern Irishman bagged a tidy $10 million for finishing runner-up in the regular season standings.
Previously, all $100 million in FedExCup bonuses were handed out based on final finishes at the Tour Championship.
But with the PGA Tour scrapping 'Starting Strokes' in favour of a traditional 72-hole stroke-play event at East Lake this year, the cash is now being dished out across three key checkpoints.

McIlroy is also well on course for another lucrative bump.
That's if he holds on to second place on the points ladder after the BMW Championship in two weeks.

Down ace McIlroy would pocket a further $3 million before heading to the Tour Championship, where a clean win could be worth another $10 million on top.
The PGA Tour's Playoffs get underway this week with the FedEx St. Jude Championship at TPC Southwind in Memphis, Tennessee.

But McIlroy bizarrely is not playing in the event due to unknown reason.
A $20 million prize purse is on the line as the top 70 players from the season-long FedEx Cup standings.
World No.1 Scottie Scheffler leads the betting as the red-hot favourite, while Japan's Hideki Matsuyama returns as defending champion.
A cool $3.6 million is up for grabs for whoever comes out on top on Sunday.

Scottie Scheffler's caddie LEAVES FedEx St. Jude Championship for family emergency as chaplain steps in
Scottie Scheffler 's caddie has left the FedEx St. Jude Championship due to a family matter - and he will be replaced by a chaplain. Ted Scott had to 'unexpectedly' return home to Dallas from the Memphis-based tournament, according to a report on the PGA Tour website. And Scott will be replaced for the final round by Brad Payne, who reportedly serves as a chaplain to PGA players through the College Golf Fellowship. Scheffler and Payne are friends, and the latter also caddied for the world No. 1 at last year's PGA Championship after Scott departed the tournament. In that case, Payne stepped in for the third round as Scott flew home for his daughter's high school graduation. Scheffler was 12-under through the first three rounds of the FedEx St. Jude and entered the final day just two strokes behind leader Tommy Fleetwood.

Justin Rose's huge net worth and gymnast wife at centre of Rory McIlroy mystery
Justin Rose's huge net worth and gymnast wife at centre of Rory McIlroy mystery The 45-year-old is chasing his 12th PGA Tour title at the FedEx St Jude Championship in Memphis Rose and his wife Kate have been married for nearly 20 years Justin Rose is in pursuit of his 12th PGA Tour title as he heads into the final round of the FedEx St Jude Championship trailing compatriot Tommy Fleetwood by a single shot. Fleetwood has a chance to win his first title on the PGA tour, having moved to -14 for the tournament going into Sunday's final round in Memphis. However, he faces competition from Rose, as well as world number one Scottie Scheffler, who are on -13 and -12 respectively. If Rose can leapfrog his fellow Englishman and finish in top spot, it would be his first tournament win of 2025, having narrowly missed out on winning The Masters for the first time earlier this year. The green jacket, of course, went to Rory McIlroy, who claimed the prize that has eluded him throughout his career and became only the sixth man in history to win the Masters, US PGA Championship, Open Championship and US Open titles. He claimed victory in hugely dramatic fashion, with a tense final round at Augusta seeing the champion decided in a sudden death play-off. McIlroy had missed a par putt on the 18th hole to finish level with his Ryder Cup team-mate Rose, but a birdie on the first extra hole saw the Northern Irishman emerge triumphant. Article continues below While it was a disappointment for Rose, he still bagged a whopping $2.27 million (£1.69 million) for finishing second, with a US Open victory in 2013, together with 24 other professional tournament wins, seeing him boast a vast personal fortune. His successful career on both the PGA and European Tour has contributed to a staggering estimated net worth of around £31.5m, according to Celebrity Net Worth. Rose shares his wealth with his wife Kate, who he married in 2006. The couple had met six years earlier while she worked at IMG, the company representing the golf star at the time. Together, they have two children - Leo, born in 2009, and Lottie, born in 2012, while they also launched the Kate and Justin Rose Foundation in 2009 to support children living in poverty in Florida. Kate is also a former international gymnast, while she served as a board director of the PGA Tour Wives Association between 2006 and 2010. Rose also revealed the sweet tribute that he makes to his wife of nearly 20 years while out on the course, telling Golf Monthly that he plays with number 99 golf balls because nine is her favorite number, with 99 'doubling the luck". In the wake of her husband's dramatic defeat to McIlroy at this year's Masters, Kate found herself at the centre of a mystery involving herself and the Northern Irishman. After he had secured victory, Mclroy was photographed sharing an embrace with a woman at the end of his championship walk, sparking speculation about the identity of the 'mystery blonde' he was seen with. However, it soon emerged that the woman was none other than Kate, with the embrace highlighting the close relationship between the two top Augusta finishers. Article continues below Rose himself showed his true colours with some kind words to McIlroy in the wake of his own personal disappointment at the tournament, as he took to social media to write: "I gave it everything…. Congratulations @McIlroyRory on winning @TheMasters and completing the Grand Slam. Very cool sharing the green with you in that moment. "Thank you Team Rose as always for all the support during the week. We go again."

Tommy Fleetwood's four-word admission after his wife with 23-year age gap rejected him
Tommy Fleetwood's four-word admission after his wife with 23-year age gap rejected him Tommy Fleetwood married wife, Clare, in 2017, and though they now have a growing family, the English golfer's spouse initially declined his advances due to their substantial age difference Tommy Fleetwood was rejected by his wife at first due to their 23-year age gap (Image: Getty) Golfer Tommy Fleetwood has candidly shared that he "didn't mess it up" when he got a second chance with his now-wife, Clare, after she initially turned him down due to their 23-year age difference. Fleetwood is currently in the running to clinch his first PGA Tour victory at the FedEx St. Jude Championship this Sunday. The Englishman is renowned for his exceptional skill on the Tour, yet he's notably not won a title despite his talent and earnings exceeding £23million. However, this could all change at the FedEx St. Jude, where the two-time major runner-up leads by one stroke going into the final round. At 34 years old, Fleetwood is determined not to 'mess up' this prime opportunity, much like he successfully navigated his relationship with Clare, who is 57 and was initially hesitant about their age difference. The pair first crossed paths through Fleetwood's brother Joe, who worked with Clare at Hambric Sports Management. Fleetwood even mentioned Clare in his Golf Monthly blog back in mid-2015, noting how well they got along and that he had enjoyed their conversations over the years. "I get on well with Clare Craig, too, who is vice-president of Europe," Fleetwood penned. "She's always been around on Tour, and I've chatted to her a lot over the years." Their professional relationship took a personal turn later in 2015 when Clare became Fleetwood's manager, leading to romance. The couple tied the knot two years later and have a son named Frankie together. Clare, originally from Manchester, also has two sons from a previous relationship. Article continues below Fleetwood married Clare in the Bahamas in 2017 (Image: Getty) But their love story wasn't without its complications. On the Performance People podcast, Fleetwood's partner shared that she initially rebuffed his romantic interest. "We've got a 23-year age difference," she stated, reflecting on the early stages of their romance. "Of course, I turned him down. I was like, 'Don't be stupid.'" Fleetwood opened up about how he eventually won Clare over, culminating in a candid four-word confession: "Well, she just eventually gave in, I think, and thought, 'I'll just give him some time. I'll give him the time of day and then we'll go from there.' I didn't mess up." Clare continued, and touched on considering giving up her managerial role after marrying Fleetwood, but acknowledged that juggling both positions offers her comprehensive insight. "I know everything on every side – so there's sponsorship side, the logistics side, the PR side, the accounts side, everything," she elaborated. "Maybe sometimes too much, you know, because then that's all I think about sometimes, but that's just the different dynamic. Article continues below "I look at one question – it might have 15 answers for me. Do you know what I mean? It's a little bit more complicated for me because I see things, you know, like, are we going to live? I don't see it as a lifestyle choice necessarily, I'll look at it as a business choice as well." At the FedEx St. Jude being hosted at TPC Southwind in Memphis, Tennessee, Fleetwood is facing stiff competition, with a slew of skilled contenders hot on his heels after several close calls in previous years. Trailing him by just one stroke is fellow Englishman Justin Rose, and two shots behind is world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler. US Open champion J. J. Spaun is also only three shots adrift of Fleetwood, who is aiming to create his own personal history.
