Longview house fire leaves pets dead, resident injured
LONGVIEW, Texas (KETK) — The Longview Fire Department responded to a fire at a Kay Drive home that left multiple pets dead and one homeowner injured on Thursday.

The fire was first reported at around 4:25 p.m. in the 700 block of Kay Drive. Officials said a resident had been home at the time of the fire mowing their lawn.
The resident put the lawn mower up in the garage, went to take a break for a minute but returned to his mower and garage on fire. Firefighters arrived at the home and found the garage with heavy smoke and fire.
The Longview Fire Department said $50,000 in damage was done to the home by the time the fire was extinguished. The resident was injured and had to be treated for smoke inhalation. No firefighters were reported injured but multiple pets died in the fire.
The American Red Cross responded to the home so they could help the displaced residents.
