Why Alabama's 2026 class is set to skyrocket up recruiting rankings
If you were to take a look at the Alabama Crimson Tide's current position in the 2026 team recruiting rankings, then it might not be something you necessarily expected to see in mid-June.
As to why, that is because Alabama's 2026 recruiting class currently sits at No. 45 nationally according to the latest 247Sports Team Rankings with only seven commitments, as of Tuesday, June 17.

However, do not be surprised if that ranking changes in the very near future, as things are certainly in place for the Crimson Tide to skyrocket up the class rankings over the next two-to-three weeks.
As mentioned previously, Alabama's 2026 recruiting class currently holds only seven commitments, which is among the fewest of any SEC team. Of those seven, one is a five-star prospect in cornerback Jorden Edmonds, while the remaining six are all considered four-star's.
Lying ahead for the Crimson Tide however are numerous upcoming commitment decisions that will be made in the coming weeks from some of the nation's elite prospects, many of which have Alabama among their list of finalists.
For example, here are a few of the top Alabama targets who are announcing their commitments in the next two-to-three weeks, along with their rating and position, according to the 247Sports Composite recruiting rankings.

With the Crimson Tide trending for some of these prospects as well, it certainly is shaping up to be a loaded late-June and early-July for Alabama, something that you could say has already started with a pair of recent four-star commitments in offensive lineman Sam Utu and quarterback Jett Thomalla.

Advertisement Toodle was the No. 9-ranked Alabama prospect in the 2026 recruiting class according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. Before switching to Georgia, Toodle had been committed to the Tigers for almost a year. Additionally, the same rankings have Toodle at No. 9 among all linebackers and No. 166 overall in the class. By landing Toodle, the Bulldogs have passed the Ohio State Buckeyes for the No. 4-ranked spot on the 247Sports recruiting rankings for 2026. Only the USC Trojans, Texas A&M Aggies and Notre Dame Fighting Irish are ahead of Georgia on the rankings. On3's Chad Simmons reported Monday four-star edge rusher Khamari Brooks has pledged to Georgia instead of the Alabama Crimson Tide. "Brooks is a Georgia legacy who lives 15 minutes from Athens," Simmons posted on X. "[Coach] Kirby Smart and company kept him home." Brooks told Simmons the program welcomed him and his entire family during all of his visits. That played a role in his decision. But so did the program's future plans for him. "With Georgia, it is about how they use guys at my position," Simmons wrote. "How [linebackers] coach [Chidera Uzo-]Diribe coaches is a lot like my high school, and how he uses the outside linebackers/EDGE is similar to what he [does] now, but at a higher level against better athletes.' The Bulldogs landed Brooks the same day the program saw four-star player Spafford flip to the Miami Hurricanes. Georgia still has two receiver commitments in the 2026 class, but Spafford is more highly rated than either of them. Advertisement Four-star wide receiver Vance Spafford flipped his commitment from the Bulldogs to the Miami Hurricanes on Monday. Both Rivals' Adam Gorney and On3's Hayes Fawcett reported the flip. Spafford will join five-star offensive tackle Jackson Cantwell, who was a top Georgia target, in Miami. Although they won't ever play with him, former Bulldogs quarterback Carson Beck also landed with the Hurricanes this offseason. On3's Chad Simmons reported on June 13 that the UCLA Bruins and Washington Huskies were both trying to flip Spafford from Georgia. Those two programs appeared to be the biggest concern for the Bulldogs with Spafford due to the receiver being from California. But instead, Spafford will head to Miami. Based on the 247Sports Composite rankings, Spafford is the No. 9 receiver and 10th-ranked California prospect. He is also the No. 74 overall recruit in the class. Advertisement Without him on board, the Bulldogs have two receivers left committed for 2026 – Brady Marchese and Ryan Mosley. Both are three-star prospects.
