The marathon will feature four categories — 42km, 21km, 10km, and 3km — with an estimated 7,859 runners from Malaysia and abroad. A total of four officers and 90 police personnel will be deployed to manage traffic and ensure the safety of all participants. The 42km route starts at Likas Sports Complex, passing through Jalan Tun Fuad Stephen, Jalan Lintas, Jalan Tuaran Bypass, and Jalan UMS, and ends back at the stadium. The 21km route covers landmarks such as Masjid Negeri, Menara Kinabalu, Jalan UMS and Bulatan Alamesra before returning to the stadium. The 10km race will see runners looping around Bulatan Istiadat and Masjid Bandaraya with a turnaround at Bulatan Pelabuhan. The 3km route, dedicated to people with disability participants, will run a short loop around Bulatan Istiadat and return to the starting point. Temporary road closures will begin at 5.30am, especially affecting areas near Bulatan Bunga Raya, JQ slip road, Bulatan Hakka, and Bulatan Masjid Bandaraya. Motorists will be redirected to alternative routes, including Jalan Coastal, Jalan Lintas, and Jalan Bukit Bendera. The public is advised to plan their journeys early and cooperate with traffic diversions to ensure a smooth and safe event. * Follow us on Instagram and join our Telegram and/or WhatsApp channel(s) for the latest news you don't want to miss. * Do you have access to the Daily Express e-paper and online exclusive news? Bromell scorches to 100m gold

Published on: Sunday, June 08, 2025 Published on: Sun, Jun 08, 2025 By: AFP Text Size: (From left to right) Americans Courtney Lindsey, Fred Kerley and Trayvon Bromell compete in the men's 100m event of the Diamond League meeting at the Olympic Stadium in Rome. ROME: American Trayvon Bromell set the fastest time over the 100m this season as he won the Rome Diamond League in 9.84 seconds on Friday. Bromell, a two-time world outdoor bronze medallist and 2016 world indoor champion, dominated the field, with compatriot Fred Kerley coming in fifth in 10.06sec. Advertisement Cameroon's Emmanuel Eseme (9.99) and Kenya's Ferdinand Omanyala (10.01) rounded out the podium in the blue riband event. Kenya's Beatrice Chebet, who won Olympic golds in the 5,000 and 10,000m in Paris last year, posted the second fastest time of all time in the women's 5,000m, clocking 14:03.69 after a stunning solo breakaway at the Stadio Olimpico. It was just three seconds off Gudaf Tsegay's world record set in Eugene in 2023, the Ethiopian finishing third in the Italian capital as the field struggled with Chebet's kick four laps out from the finish. 'I was planning to run 14:15, but I felt like my body was moving and I decided to go,' said Chebet. Advertisement 'So I see that my body is in a good shape and I am capable of of the world record. So now I am going home and will prepare for it. Everything is possible. If I get someone who will push me up to 3000, it is possible.' Another Olympic champion, Quincy Hall of the USA, held his nerve to claim victory in the men's 400m in 44.22sec, winning in a photo finish from fast-finishing South African Zakithi Nene. There was a first Diamond League win since 2022 for Sandi Morris in the women's pole vault, the American clearing 4.80m for the victory. 'Today is monumental for me on a personal level,' said Morris, a three-time world silver medallist. 'I have been fighting with problems with my shoulder so I have to keep the volume of jumps lower. I really wanted to keep jumping but I also listen to my goals.' There was, however, no glory for Gianmarco Tamberi in the men's high jump in front of his adoring fans. The joint 2020 Olympic gold medallist, also the current European and world champion, bombed out at a lowly 2.16m in a competition won by South Korea's Sanghyeok Woo, with a best of 2.32m. * Follow us on our official WhatsApp channel and Telegram for breaking news alerts and key updates! * Do you have access to the Daily Express e-paper and online exclusive news? Published on: Saturday, June 07, 2025 Published on: Sat, Jun 07, 2025 By: GL Oh Text Size: Esfa president Datuk James Wong said they had been requested by both schools to hold the clinic following the success of an earlier clinic held at SMK Gunsanad II in Keningau in April. Kota Kinabalu: The Ex State Footballers Association (Esfa) will be organising a basic football skills clinic for 12 to 15-year-old students at SMK Sook in Keningau on June 14-15. A total of 60 boys and 30 girls from SMK Sook and also from SMK Tulid are expected to participate in the programme to be conducted by Yap Wai Loon and Harun Laban for the boys and Suharmin Yusof and Cyril Gom for the girls with assistance from two school teachers. Advertisement Esfa president Datuk James Wong said they had been requested by both schools to hold the clinic following the success of an earlier clinic held at SMK Gunsanad II in Keningau in April. 'We are more than happy to oblige their request. It is very encouraging to note that our programme to conduct such clinics in schools throughout the State to assist Sabah Football Association (Safa) in the development of football received such positive response. 'I believe with the knowledge and experiences of our coaches, the clinic will not only benefit the participants but also the teachers assigned, who will no doubt gain some valuable coaching tips,' he said. He also expressed his gratitude to fellow ex-State player Shanmugam Sundram who is based in Keningau for coordinating the programme as he also did in the earlier clinic in April. * Follow us on our official WhatsApp channel and Telegram for breaking news alerts and key updates! * Do you have access to the Daily Express e-paper and online exclusive news?
