‘We need to take care of him' – Fears at Newmarket as £2million horse suffers ‘freak accident' and is pulled from race
Joorabchian, who looked after players such as ex-Manchester United and Man City star Carlos Tevez and Arsenal hero Willian, splashed the huge sum on Ghostwriter at last month's sales.

He was even money favourite for the Princess Of Wales's Stakes at Newmarket until disaster struck.
It meant Ghostwriter was dramatically pulled from the £125,000 Group 2 on the advice of the racecourse vets.
The horse was seen limping back to his box after rearing in his box.
Trainer Clive Cox said: "It was a freak accident. We were just putting the saddle on and he reared up.

"He is clearly very lame and we won't take part on the back of that.
"We're very sorry for everyone and the owners - but his health is the priority.
"He was limping and we need to take care of him."
Joorabchian signed a cheque for £2m for Group 2 winner Ghostwriter less than a month ago at the ultra-exclusive Goffs London Sale.

Explaining how he came to land the horse, he said at the time: "To be honest, my son picked this horse out a little while ago and he said, 'We've got to buy this!'"
Joorabchian has made waves in the sport with some huge spending under the banner of his Amo Racing operation.
And he has had plenty of success too, most notably with Champion Stakes winner and Derby runner-up King Of Steel.
But he will be desperate to know all is OK with his newest recruit after he was shown walking gingerly away from the racecourse.

Stephen Bradley pays tribute to fans that saved Shamrock Rovers 20 years ago
Stephen Bradley was just home from his spell in the UK with Arsenal and Dunfermline, and had signed for Drogheda United around the same time that Shamrock Rovers went into examinership. Back in his Jobstown home, not far from the club's Tallaght Stadium home, he was well aware of efforts to keep the Hoops afloat. On the eve of Rovers' Europa Conference League clash with St Joseph's, with the Hoops four goals clear after the first-leg, Bradley recalled that pivotal time 20 years ago this week, when the club emerged from examinership. And he hopes the same fans that helped raise the €450,000 needed to keep the club from being liquidated are enjoying the journey, as they plan for glory once again both at home and in Europe. 'There were groups coming, knocking at the door, buy-a-brick, and a lot of them would have been from my road,' said Bradley. 'We were well aware, coming from Jobstown. Everywhere you went, the wall (the initial work on the stadium) was there for I don't know how many years. It was a field and we were all wondering what they were doing. 'I was well aware. What people, them people, have done for the club should never be forgotten, and I'm sure it won't be. 'It was incredible what people gave up to make sure the club survived and thrived in the end. 'I know stories of people putting their house down as guarantors, people paying (player) wages out of their mortgage, and that wasn't just one off, that was a regular occurrence for quite some time. 'I hope them people are enjoying where the club is at the moment and enjoying nights like (tonight), and enjoying the success that this team has brought them. 'They deserve it. They're the ones that kept the club going and fought until now to keep the club going for us and get them into Tallaght. 'It's not possible without them doing that. That's quite clear. What we're doing today isn't possible without what them people did years back. 'They fought every inch of the way to make the club survive and then thrive. '€450,000 (to take the club out of examinership) seems small now when you think of what we earned last year (over €7million in Europe) and what we've earned the last few years. 'Without what them people did, we don't get to do what we're doing at the moment. They deserve all the credit in the world. 'And like I said, I really hope that they're sitting back and enjoying it, whether that's in Tallaght Stadium, where that's at home, that they're looking at us playing and looking at what we're doing and enjoying it with pride.' Striker Benjamin Sesko could be the next arrival at Manchester United
Manchester United are pursuing a deal for RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko, the PA news agency understands. Ruben Amorim's Red Devils are in the midst of a rebuild having stumbled home 15th in the Premier League and lost May's all-or-nothing Europa League final to Tottenham. United's misfiring frontline was a major issue last term and the club are looking to sign a striker this summer, with Sesko in their sights ahead of the new season. Read More Mercedes F1 director of data Mike Sansoni makes switch to Manchester United Benjamin Sesko is a Slovenia international (Bradley Collyer/PA) The Slovenia international, 22, has long been on the club's radar and is also a target of Newcastle, who missed out on Frankfurt's Hugo Ekitike to Liverpool and have an unsettled star in Alexander Isak. United also like Aston Villa's Ollie Watkins, but Sesko – who could reportedly be available for in the region of £70million – is understood to be their current priority. Amorim's side had looked at Liam Delap earlier in the summer, only for the Ipswich striker to favour a move to Chelsea. The Red Devils are currently in the United States taking part in the Premier League Summer Series having so far made two key summer acquisitions. Matheus Cunha joined from Wolves in a £62.5million deal last month, with Bryan Mbeumo last week following in a move that could cost up to £71million after protracted negotiations with Brentford. Manager Ruben Amorim is seeking a striker for Manchester United (Martin Rickett/PA) Teenage wing-back Diego Leon has also linked up with United after a deal was struck with Paraguayan side Cerro Porteno in January. In terms of exits, Marcus Rashford has joined Barcelona on a season-long loan with a view to a permanent switch. United are still trying to shift Antony, Jadon Sancho, Alejandro Garnacho, Tyrell Malacia, while Victor Lindelof, Christian Eriksen and now retired Jonny Evans left at the end of their contracts.

Viktor Gyokeres' Arsenal transfer proves that more Premier League clubs should look to the Championship for new stars
TWO YEARS ago, after two outstanding Championship seasons with Coventry, Viktor Gyokeres was on the market for £20million. Now Arsenal could end up splashing out a London derby in Hong Kong. And indeed why do so few English top-flight clubs ever buy from the second tier any more? It is a bugbear among many Premier League scouts that the Championship is so frequently overlooked as a mine of talented players, proven in the English game. The argument is that elite clubs are far more likely to take a punt on players from the Portuguese, Dutch or other middle-ranking European leagues than on those from the Championship — which has far more in common with the Premier League in terms of tempo and physicality. Advertisement READ MORE IN ARSENAL Gyokeres netted 38 goals in two full Championship campaigns at Coventry. By 2023, he was a 25-year-old coming into his prime, already renowned for his pace, strength, finishing and hold-up play — and regarded as a rare oversight from Brighton. Yet despite Gyokeres being tracked by many Premier League clubs at the time, none made a significant offer — and Sporting swooped in. The only player to outscore Gyokeres in the 2022-23 Championship campaign was 28-goal Chuba Akpom , who then moved to While Advertisement Most read in Football Breaking BEST FREE BETS AND BETTING SIGN UP OFFERS 3 So many are infected with an ongoing snobbishness over England's second tier, failing to see the division as the excellent pathway it undoubtedly is. There are exceptions, notably Eberechi Eze was snapped up from QPR for an initial £15m five years ago and has seen his price tag quadruple, as an England star who scored the winner in this year's FA Cup final. Fellow Scot David Moyes brought Jarrod Bowen to West Ham from Hull , as well as Tim Cahill, Joleon Lescott and Phil Jagielka from Championship clubs during his first Aston Villa's Unai Emery spent around £1billion on 164 players during his coaching career before he ever signed an Englishman. Advertisement When he dipped into the Championship for Middlesbrough's Morgan Rogers he plucked out a gem. But others refuse to make such moves, meaning an absence of money flowing down from the filthy-rich Premier League to the lower reaches of the English game. There has been a steep downward trend in Championship to Premier League transfers — save for the regular vulturing of clubs who have just been relegated from the top flight. Brighton's £10m move for Tom Watson , 18, from Sunderland, is this summer's only example of an established Premier League club signing anyone who played in the Championship last term. Advertisement The Middlesbrough duo of Hayden Hackney and Finn Azaz are highly regarded, as are West Brom's Tom Fellows, Norwich striker Josh Sargent and many more. But will anyone take a calculated risk on any of them? It is doubtful.
