Jatt Box Office Collection Day 20: Sunny Deol's Film Eyes Rs 100 Crore
Last Updated:
Sunny Deol's film Jatt is nearing the Rs 100 crore mark despite competition from Akshay Kumar's Kesari 2. Directed by Gopichand Malineni, Jatt stars Sunny Deol and Randeep Hooda.
Jatt Box Office Collection Day 20: Sunny Deol's latest release Jatt continues its strong run at the box office, edging closer to the coveted Rs 100 crore mark. The film, which has maintained steady earnings since its release, is now eyeing a major milestone as it enters its third week in theatres. Jaat, however, faces stiff competition from Akshay Kumar's latest period courtroom drama, Kesari 2: The Untold Story of Jallianwala Bagh.
As per industry tracker Sacnilk, the film earned Rs 65 lakh on its third Tuesday, matching its collection from the previous day. Despite heavy promotions, the action-packed drama appears to be struggling to maintain momentum, with tough competition close behind.
Directed by Gopichand Malineni, Jatt opened strong in its first week, but its momentum slowed once Kesari 2 hit theatres, taking a significant share of the audience. Coming off the massive success of Gadar 2, which crossed Rs 500 crore and outperformed Jatt within just three days, Sunny Deol had hoped to replicate at least part of that magic. While Gadar 2 had the advantage of nostalgia and franchise value, Jatt has struggled to match those numbers.
On its third Tuesday, Jatt recorded an overall occupancy of 11%. Morning and afternoon shows saw lower turnouts at 6% and 11%, while evening and night shows picked up slightly, reaching 14% and 16%.
Jaat is an action thriller film written and directed by Gopichand Malineni (in his Hindi film debut) and produced by Mythri Movie Makers and People Media Factory. The film stars Sunny Deol and Randeep Hooda, alongside Saiyami Kher, Regina Cassandra, Jagapathi Babu, Ramya Krishnan, Vineet Kumar Singh, Prashant Bajaj, Zarina Wahab, P. Ravi Shankar and Babloo Prithiveeraj.
The story follows Brigadier Baldev Pratap Singh, fondly known as 'Jaat," who is en route from Chennai to Ayodhya by train when an unexpected accident halts the journey at a small village near Chirala. Stepping off the train for a quick meal, he finds himself caught in a heated scuffle with Ranatunga, also known as Muthuvel Karikalan—a former Deputy Commander of the Jaffna Tiger Force. Ranatunga now rules the village with an iron fist, backed by corrupt local police.
As Jaat spends time in the village, he begins to witness the fear and suffering etched into the lives of its people. Unwilling to stand by, he takes a stand against the oppressive regime. What follows is a gripping showdown between the righteous brigadier and the ruthless warlord.
A part of Jaat's review by News18 read, 'Action fans can rejoice because this is one film that delivers every dhishoom-dhishoom fantasy you've had since the '90s. The punches land, the enemies fly, and the background score screams intense. The rising tension and explosive clash between Jaat and Rana Thunga fuels pure adrenaline. The thunderous background score and bone-crunching action sequences demand your full attention."

Aamir Khan was once slated to star in this Shah Rukh Khan blockbuster. 31 years later, actor says, ‘I didn't say no…'
The 1993 psychological thriller Darr, directed by the legendary Yash Chopra , was a landmark film that shaped the trajectory of Shah Rukh Khan 's stardom. In the film, Shah Rukh portrayed a deeply disturbed stalker fixated on a woman named Kiran, portrayed by Juhi Chawla. His character, Rahul, was dangerously obsessed, willing to harm anyone who stood between him and the woman he desired. Sunny Deol played the conventional protagonist—a protective fiancé fighting for his love. However, before Shah Rukh was cast as the obsessive antagonist, the role had initially been offered to Aamir Khan . During a recent conversation with Zoom, Aamir revealed that, contrary to popular belief, he hadn't rejected Darr. Instead, he was dismissed from the project. He explained that he had agreed to do the film, but his insistence on a joint script narration with both lead actors led to his removal. Aamir revealed he firmly believes that when a film features more than one central character, all key actors should be present for a collaborative narration. This approach, according to him, ensures mutual understanding and cohesive teamwork. However, Yash Chopra wasn't willing to accommodate that request, leading to Aamir being let go from the film. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Villas For Sale in Dubai Might Surprise You Villas In Dubai | Search Ads Get Rates Undo Aamir further cited his experience with Andaz Apna Apna to support his stance. Salman reportedly skipped the meeting multiple times, but Aamir stood his ground, refusing to proceed until both actors were present. Eventually, the narration took place jointly, adhering to Aamir's condition. After Darr was released, the film garnered significant success and became the third highest-grossing film of the year. Shah Rukh Khan's chilling portrayal of Rahul won critical acclaim and immense popularity, catapulting him into a league of unconventional anti-heroes. However, behind the film's commercial triumph, there was brewing tension on set. Sunny Deol was dissatisfied with how his character was portrayed, feeling that the narrative and screen space favored Shah Rukh's role over his own. This perceived imbalance led to long-standing friction between Sunny and Shah Rukh. Their rift lasted for years, marked by cold shoulders and avoidance in public appearances. However, the bitterness was finally put to rest in 2023 when Shah Rukh attended the success celebration of Gadar 2, a significant gesture that brought closure to their decades-old feud. Darr remains memorable not just for its gripping storyline and performances but also for the behind-the-scenes drama that shaped its casting and legacy.
