Spike Lee Walks Back Comment That ‘Highest 2 Lowest' Will Be His Last Film With Denzel Washington: 'I Got My Mind Right'
'I think this is it — five,' Lee told reporters of his and Washington's number of films together. 'He's been talking about retirement, even though he's just done another deal. Five films together, they stand up.'

The pair have united for Inside Man, Mo' Better Blues, Malcolm X, He Got Game and now Highest 2 Lowest, but at the new film's New York premiere on Monday, Lee walked back those previous comments and kept the door open for more projects with Washington.
'I said that before, but I got my mind right,' he told The Hollywood Reporter. 'I'm open to work with Denzel Washington and this not be the last film of the dynamic duo, D and Lee.'
Highest 2 Lowest is a reinterpretation of Akira Kurosawa's 1963 film High and Low and sees a powerful music mogul (Washington) targeted by a ransom plot and put in a life-or-death moral dilemma. A$AP Rocky, Jeffrey Wright, Ilfenesh Hadera, Elijah Wright, Wendell Pierce and Ice Spice also appear in the film.
'I became a student of Akira Kurosawa at NYU's graduate film school — that's where I saw Rashomon, that's where I saw many of Samurai films, that's where I saw High and Low,' Lee recalled, noting that Washington 'had gotten the property and he sent it to me; he said, 'Spike read the script. If you like, let's go.' I read it right away, called him up, I think the next day and said, 'Let's go.' It happened like that.'
The famed filmmaker also weighed in on the film's tagline 'All Money Ain't Good Money,' saying, 'We know what that is and we know that sometimes in life we have to make that choice. And hopefully we make the right choice.'
Highest 2 Lowest hits theaters on Friday and starts streaming on Apple TV+ on Sept. 5.

'Of course': Bob Odenkirk confirms he'd be on board for more Better Call Saul
Bob Odenkirk would "of course" be on board for a new series of Better Call Saul. The 62-year-old actor first played lawyer Jimmy McGill and his corrupt alter ego Saul Goodman in Breaking Bad and then reprised the role in his own spin-off series, which ran from 2015 to 2022, and he admitted if showrunners Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould had a new idea for his character, who was jailed at the end of Better Call Saul, he would be on board, though he thinks it is unlikely. He told 'Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould created that show. There are some of the best writers who ever worked in TV. 'So if they were to think of something in that world, of course I would do it. 'But I don't think so. I think they've all moved on to some more amazing projects that you'll soon see.' Of a potential plotline, he noted: 'He's not getting out [of prison]. If there's another Saul show, it takes place inside prison" The Nobody actor will always be grateful for the opportunity to have played Saul. He said: 'That part turned my life around, and I've given more to that part than anything I've done." Creator Vince has been working on new Apple TV+ sci-fi drama Pluribus, which stars Bob's Better Call Saul co-star Rhea Seehorn, and the actor teased the programme - which will be released in November - is "going to be a great one". Bob said: 'Look forward to the best written show on TV for years to come." The veteran actor previously admitted he is "fine with moving on" from playing both Saul and his assassin character Hutch from the Nobody movies because they are both tough roles to play. He told The Hollywood Reporter: 'They're guys who, for different reasons, have pretty big chips on their shoulders, and that's hard to play after a while. You can't just carry that guy around all the time.' Bob suffered a heart attack during the filming of the final season of Better Call Saul and he recently recalled how he was lucky that co-stars Ray Campbell and Patrick Fabian were nearby as he likely would have died had the incident happened in his trailer. He told Conan O'Brien Needs a Friend: "It was during Covid shooting, so we were separate from the crew. "And luckily, I didn't go to my trailer. If I'd gone to my trailer, I wouldn't be here, because they don't bother you (in the trailer)." But his co-stars' screams for help were initially mistaken as laughter at first due to the social distancing provisions in place on the set. He said: "It took a few seconds to realise people were screaming." Bob was grateful to the show's medical officer Rosa Estrada as she "immediately" began CPR after learning that no defibrillator would be available for 15 minutes.

When is 'Nobody 2' coming to streaming? Here's our best guess
"Nobody 2" sees Huch Mansell (Bob Odenkirk) exploding back onto the big screen in another burst of ultraviolence. After the first film brought him out of retirement (and landed him in hot water), our everyman action hero is working hard to pay off some all he really wants to do is go on vacation. Of course, we all know that movie dads can't escape work that easily. Shortly after the Mansell family arrives in the rundown amusement town of Plummerville, trouble finds Hutch all over again — and hilarious, bone-crunching carnage ensues. So far, "Nobody 2" seems to be impressing action fans. It's currently Certified Fresh with a 76% critics' score on Rotten Tomatoes, and has an even higher score from fans (89% on the Popcornmeter). Having seen it myself, I don't think it quite matches up to Hutch's first outing, though it is a solid follow-up (with seriously fun action) that leans into the franchise's silly side. If you're waiting to stream "Nobody 2" at home, we do not yet have a streaming release date for the action sequel. However, if you'd like to plan your viewing, I've made an educated guess at when and where you'll be available to stream "Nobody 2" from the comfort of your own couch. If you're keen to see Bob Odenkirk back in action, the only way to watch "Nobody 2" right now is by heading to your nearest movie theater. And seeing as the movie only just released on Friday, August 15, that's not likely to change for a little while yet. As with most new releases, the first way you'll be able to watch "Nobody 2" at home will be via Premium Video-on-Demand (PVOD) storefronts like Prime Video. Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips. We don't currently have a PVOD release date for "Nobody 2," but I anticipate "Nobody 2" will land a digital release on or around September 15, 2025. That's based on the fact that we've waited about a month for Universal's most recent releases to be available on PVOD services (both "Jurassic World Rebirth" and the live-action "How To Train Your Dragon" movies followed this pattern). Similarly, we don't yet have a "Nobody 2" streaming date, but seeing as this action sequel is a Universal release, we can expect it to make its streaming debut on Peacock. Typically, we wait three to four months for Universal Pictures movies to come to the streaming service. Thus, I predict that "Nobody 2" will come to streaming in mid-November, possibly on Friday, November 14. That's based on the fact that it took "Drop" three months to come to the streamer after hitting theaters on April 11, and "Wolf Man" arrived in April after premiering in theaters in January. However, both "Nosferatu" and "The Phoenician Scheme" arrived sooner, landing on Peacock two months after release, which possibly means "Nobody 2" could be available a little sooner, too. Of course, this is all purely speculation at present, as Universal has not made any announcements about the "Nobody 2" streaming date just yet. As and when we learn anything, we'll be sure to share that info here.
