Man orders huge feast in Italy and is floored by the bill when it arrives
Italy isn't known for being cheap and cheerful, however it is a stunning place for a holiday. That's why, when one man ordered a feast in a popular tourist hotspot and he received the bill, he was left floored and couldn't believe his eyes. Fernando Massana, who regularly posts his foodie hacks on TikTok to his 114,000 followers, shared that he managed to eat a whole lot of food for less than £5, but he warned other holidaymakers to be aware of the warning signs that they may be getting ripped off.
Fernando, who posts as @rockinkitchensicily on the site, recently visited Italian spot Palermo in Sicily. There, he went to a local market to see how much—and what—he could eat for just €1 (86p).
In a clip, which garnered 3.8m views and over 382,000 likes, he revealed the huge feast he chowed down for €5 (£4.30).
The 51-year-old began with a ball of fresh mozzarella, before picking up a sfincione, a type of focaccia-like pizza.
He also grabbed a homemade arancini, which he washed down with freshly squeezed lemon juice. But there was even more.
For dessert, Fernando opted for a stuffed-to-the-brim cannoli.
In the comments, people were shocked at the amount of food you could get for such a small price.
"For €1 in Denmark, you get to stand 10 metres outside a bakery and take one deep sniff," someone joked.
Another added: "For €1 in Dublin, you can light a candle and pray for food".
A TikTok user pointed out that in London, it would be "£5+ per item," rather than less than a fiver for the whole feast Fernando enjoyed.
"The rest of Europe could never," somebody else pointed out, highlighting how expensive things have become lately.
Fernando, who is from Catania, Sicily, notes that the spots he went to are very specific, and finding food for these cheap prices is rather rare.
He said: "It's not a general thing to eat for €1. It's easy to go to a tourist trap, especially in Ballarò market and Catania. Go with the flow.
"If you see pictures of the food everywhere, [it's] not good. If you see guys pulling you into eating at that specific spot, be mindful.
"It's not always bad, but possibly more expensive, and also even a tourist trap. It may still be a great meal, simply because Italian food in England [isn't] as good".
He said that if you walk a few minutes away from the tourist locations, that's where the hidden gems can be found, saying you shouldn't be "shy to ask how much something is before you order".
Fernando added: "Menus with prices aren't a thing at the markets. And also ask for local wine to save [money]. It will come in a jug, not a glass bottle, but it will be very good".

Bonnie Blue documentary is sad, uncomfortable and prurient viewing
New film, which followed the contentious OnlyFans star for six months, fails to get to the bottom of what motivates her extreme sex stunts. But it does introduce us to her family, who are all on her payroll 'Everyone has sex; just some of us film it,' is the phrase Bonnie Blue chooses to introduce her Channel 4 documentary. It's a suitably glib start to the hour-long film, 1,000 Men and Me: The Bonnie Blue Story, which charts the controversial OnlyFans star's rise to global infamy. Aged 26, Blue, whose real name is Tia Billinger, is best known for staging extreme sex stunts; in January, she claimed to have slept with 1,057 men in 12 hours, filming it all for her OnlyFans account, which has since been disabled after the platform banned her. It's hard to know where to begin with Blue, who earns upwards of £1.5m per month from her videos, which she now shares on Fansly, another subscription-based social platform. Perhaps with the sheer impossibility of her so-called 1,000-men challenge, which would amount to 41 seconds per man, without accounting for the time it takes to change between them. Then there's the footage itself, much of which features in the film, showing a fully-naked Blue surrounded by penises penetrating her mouth and vagina. Or there's her litany of rage-bait TikTok videos, in which she urges 'barely legal or barely breathing' men to have sex with her, often at the expense of their wives and girlfriends, who Blue happily lambasts as sexually inferior.

Alley Cats: hyped New York-style pizza restaurant is opening a third site in London
A few years ago, Neapolitan pizzas were all the rage. Now, that craze has burned out and a new cheesy-tomato hero has risen from its ashes – the New York pie is here to save us from the sourdough. There are loads of great NY inspired restaurants popping up across the capital, including some which are so good one store just isn't enough. Alley Cats – a spot so aggressively Italian-American that they often project episodes of the Sopranos directly onto the walls – opened in Marylebone back in 2023, before a second location came forth last year. Now, a third Alley Cats has been announced. View this post on Instagram A post shared by @alleycatspizzalondon The selected spot is on Westbourne Grove in Notting Hill, in place of previous Italian occupants Verderame. It's expected that the menu, developed by head chef Francesco Macri, will remain pretty similar to its predecessors. Expect huge 14 inch pizza bases with creative toppings like pepperoni with jalapeños and honey, and wild mushrooms with red onion jam and fried sage. If that's not your thing, there's always the classic margherita. Macri has worked across restaurants in London and Rome, so he definitely knows what he's doing. Time Out London editor Joe Mackertich particularly rated Alley Cats' creamy vodka sauce pizza when he headed to the Marylebone branch, describing it as 'every bit as moreish and comforting as the dish that inspired it'. As if that wasn't enough, you can also enjoy a range of starters, including the signature garlic and cheese bites, and a tiramisu to top it all off. We're getting hungry just thinking about it. It's not known exactly when the doors will open on the brand new pizzeria. Based on the caption on the Instagram announcement, which says the restaurant is coming 'VERY soon', it may be arriving very quickly indeed. The best pizza in London, according to Time Out.
