Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif has launched the Apni Zameen Apna Ghar initiative, a flagship welfare programme aimed at providing free residential plots to the province's poorest and homeless citizens.
The first phase of the scheme will allocate 1,892 free 3-marla plots across 23 low-income housing projects in 19 districts.
The initiative is being managed by the Punjab Housing and Town Planning Agency, under the administrative oversight of the Housing, Urban Development, and Public Health Engineering Department.
The programme is part of CM Maryam Nawaz's broader 'Housing for All' vision and is designed to benefit those who meet eligibility criteria.

Attock, Bahawalnagar, Bahawalpur, Bhakkar, Chiniot, Faisalabad, Gujrat, Jhang, Jhelum, Kasur, Khushab, Layyah, Lodhran, Mandi Bahauddin, Okara, Rajanpur, Sahiwal, Sargodha, Vehari
Who is Eligible?
Must hold permanent residence status in Punjab as per CNIC
Applications are only accepted within the applicant's native district
Applicant, spouse, and dependent children must not own any property in Pakistan
Clean criminal record is mandatory
Applicant must not be a bank or financial institution defaulter
Submission of false or misleading information will result in disqualification

Punjab opens registration for 30,000 more Honhaar Scholarships

The Punjab government has reopened registration for Honhaar Scholarship Program through online portal. Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on social media platform X said that 80,000 deserving students have already registered and benefitting from the programme. While, she said, 30,000 more Honhaar Scholarships will be provided and this number will be further increased. 'Youth are being equipped with such opportunities which they deserve,' she said. The chief minister urged students to apply for Honhaar Scholarships and secure education with dedication. 'Please apply with belief, study with passion, and never stop believing in what you can achieve. Your success will always be my greatest pride,' she stated. 430 UAF students awarded Scotland Pakistan Scholarship so far In a Facebook post, Punjab Higher Education Department said 50,000 students are already reaping benefit from this scholarship programme across the province, as the programme has been opening new avenues for students in 67 'future-proof' disciplines. Punjab Minister of Education Rana Sikandar Hayat in December 2024 said more than 68,000 students from 436 educational institutions had applied for the scholarship programme.

On CM's directions Independence Day celebrations stepped up

LAHORE: On directions by Chief Minister, Punjab, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, 79th Independence Day celebrations have been geared up across Punjab on the second day of scheduled festivities, and colourful events were held at tehsil, district and divisional levels in connection with the Independence Day. Punjab is experiencing flux of national flags, as streets, markets, squares, intersections, and roads are beautifully decorated. Independence Day activities were held in Gujrat, Khanewal, Sahiwal and Khushab besides Jhang, Vehari, Jhelum, Toba Tek Singh, Gujranwala, Chiniot, Sargodha, and Chakwal. In Jhelum, Chief Minister's Advisor for Health Major General Azhar Kayani (Retd) attended the Independence Day ceremony, and cut a cake of Pakistan's birthday. He alongside others also attended a ceremony in which a specially-prepared several-meter-long flag was unveiled. CM promises nonstop water supply in 1,200 Model Villages

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif chaired a meeting for a briefing on the Model Village, 'Suthra Punjab and Waste to Value Projects. She reviewed the progress made on a project to develop 1,200 model villages. She said on the occasion that round the clock water supply, complete sewage network and waste management and treatment plants would be built in every model village." She added, "Punjab's model villages will also have paved streets, road rehabilitation, children's parks and tree plantation." She highlighted, "Houses will be numbered and signboards will also be installed in model villages." The chief minister was briefed by the authorities concerned on the solar system-powered water supply and sewage system for the model villages. She was apprised that development projects in 130 villages in the pilot phase have been completed. Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif sought a deadline for the early completion of the model village project, and said, "Priority will be determined in the model village project by keeping in mind public needs of the area. Every village will be fully developed under Model Village Project."
