Reimagined Dragon playground at Marina Square
Three iconic Singapore playgrounds built in the 1970s and 1980s – fondly known as the Dragon, Pelican and Elephant – have been reimagined as giant inflatables at Marina Square's central atrium.
Until June 22, navigate a circular maze inspired by the Pelican and hop over to the Elephant to enjoy a ball pit. Then glide down an 8m-high, 14m-long Dragon-themed inflatable slide, the largest and tallest of the play structures there.
These heritage-themed inflatables are the creations of Airpark, a local company specialising in inflatable playgrounds.
Adults and children from four years old require play passes, which cost $10 for a 30-minute session or $6 for the first 2,500 Marina Square Rewards members. Find out more at marinasquare.com.sg

Hitchcock heroine Kim Novak to receive Venice Film Festival's Golden Lion award

ROME – Hollywood actress Kim Novak, 92, best known for portraying the double life of Alfred Hitchcock's heroine in Vertigo (1958), has been awarded Venice's lifetime achievement award, the film festival said on June 9. Despite a short-lived career, Novak became 'a living legend, earning her rightful place in history, with the respect and esteem of the film critics and industry alike', the festival added. Novak said she was 'deeply, deeply touched' to receive the award, which will be presented during the festival, which runs from Aug 27 to Sept 6. 'To be recognised for my body of work at this time in my life is a dream come true. I will treasure every moment I spend in Venice. It will fill my heart with joy,' she said in a statement. Novak played the chilling dual role of suicidal blonde Madeleine Elster and brunette shop girl Judy Barton in Vertigo, which was released in 1958. Other memorable roles included a witch in Richard Quine's Bell, Book And Candle (1958); an adulteress in another Quine film, Strangers When We Meet (1960); and a prostitute with a big heart in Kiss Me, Stupid (1964) by Billy Wilder. In 1965, she largely turned her back on Hollywood, refusing to accept the iron-fisted rule of studio executives, and turned to painting instead. The festival's artistic director Alberto Barbera said that Novak had not planned on becoming an actress, but 'inadvertently' became a screen legend. She was 'one of the most beloved icons of an entire era of Hollywood films, from her auspicious debut during the mid-1950s until her premature and voluntary exile from the gilded cage of Los Angeles a short while later', he said. 'Independent and non-conformist, she created her own production company and went on strike to renegotiate a salary that was much lower than that of her male co-stars,' he added. The award 'celebrates a star who was emancipated, a rebel at the heart of Hollywood who illuminated the dreams of movie lovers', Barbera said. The documentary Kim Novak's Vertigo (2025) by Alexandre Philippe, made in collaboration with the actress, will have its world premiere screening during the festival. Shape up—these are the best male celebrity manicures to cop this season

We call it like we see it—in 2025, the notion of a man sporting a full set of painted, embellished digits is far from brow-raising. In fact if we are to get pedantic about it, male celebrity manicures have been a mainstay amongst a specific subset since the '70s. See: rock and roll icons in the vein of David Bowie and Kurt Cobain, as well as notable figures within the pop-punk space such as Pete Wentz and Gerard Way. And if recent happenings are anything to go by, its appeal is far from limited to a specific musical genre. A$AP Rocky, for one, stated in an interview with Vogue US in 2019 that 'men should be able to do nail art without feeling feminine.' This was followed by the launch of Pleasing in 2021, a venture by Harry Styles which kicked off with a series of polishes in hues of electric blue, pastel pink, and more. Not forgetting, of course, the Hollywood circuit, with bigwigs such as Jared Leto, Ben Platt, and Billy Porter gracing the red carpet with varnished nails. All of this to say that there is no time like the present to try out a fresh new set of talons. For the maximalist at heart, look to South Korean rapper G-Dragon who displays a preference for intricate nail art set against bright, Skittle-inspired shades. The8 from K-Pop boy band, Seventeen, on the other hand, prefers a more graphic take, while Machine Gun Kelly opts for fun detailing with a checkerboard design. See our full curation of the most stellar male celebrity manicures, below. @8lo8lo8lowme 1 / 8 G-Dragon Take a leaf from G-Dragon's book and usher in the summer season with nails that truly pop. For added dimension, incorporate zany touches in the form of animal prints, polka dots, and the like. @winmetawin 2 / 8 Win Metawin It's safe to say that G-Dragon isn't the only one with summer-inspired nails on their agenda. Thai actor, Win Metawin, shows off a more pastel iteration that makes for a striking statement. @saythename_17 3 / 8 Dokyeom from Seventeen Spicing up a neutral manicure is made easy when 3D elements are in play. Dokyeom from Seventeen opts for gauzy, amoeba-like structures for the band's most recent comeback. @machinegunkelly 4 / 8 Machine Gun Kelly Nothing tempers stark red nails quite like a hint of monochrome. Machine Gun Kelly presents a fun and contemporary take with a checkerboard pattern that feels like a homage to the punk and emo wave. @theebillyporter 5 / 8 Billy Porter You can't go wrong with a classic black hue—Billy Porter is living proof. @yg_treasure 6 / 8 Yoshi from Treasure In this case, imperfection is key. Yoshi from Treasure amps up the grunge factor by ensuring that no single nail is painted the same way. @marktuan 7 / 8 Mark Tuan from GOT7 Get those head turnings by amalgamating all your favourite metallics into a single nail set. Mark Tuan from GOT7 keeps ensures it doesn't appear OTT by limiting these hues to the smallest details—think borders, singular lines down the middle, and gems. @xuminghao_o 8 / 8 The8 from Seventeen Minimalists are sure to adore this intriguing twist on chipped, gritty nail polish. The8 from Seventeen takes it a step further by incorporating his stage name within the assortment.
