SHAH ALAM – Podcast host and entrepreneur Asyraf Khalid has come under fire after teasing a new episode of his show 'Apa Cerita?' featuring a controversial fitness coach who is currently facing serious criminal allegations.
The episode's announcement sparked outrage among netizens and public figures, especially after reports surfaced linking the coach to multiple charges, including worker abuse, wildlife violations and a human trafficking probe.
Shortly after the episode teaser was released, widespread criticism poured in online, with many calling it a poor choice.
Critics highlighted the coach's past controversies and argued that there were far more deserving, positive figures to spotlight.
Among the critics was rapper Caprice, who voiced strong objections via Instagram Stories.
He claimed that he and his family had received personal threats shortly after he uncovered stories about the coach's alleged wrongdoing and questioned the judgment of giving such an individual a public platform, especially while investigations are ongoing.
Caprice also shared a screenshot of a message Asyraf had sent him in response to the backlash. In it, Asyraf defended his decision, stating:
'Let the court decide if he's guilty. I have a personal relationship with him. We go for subuh together all the time, we train together. He rarely goes out from his cave.
From my view, I know he's not a violent person... what I'm doing is just giving a platform for him to tell his side of the story, bro.'
Asyraf also expressed hope that the incident would not strain their relationship, offering to arrange a personal meeting between Caprice and the coach.
'Cap, I hope this wouldn't make our relationship sour. I respect you as a person… I can guarantee your safety, if that's a concern.'
Podcast Episode Cancelled Amid Public Pressure
Following intense backlash, the Apa Cerita? team released an official statement announcing the episode would not be aired:
'After much thought, we've decided that the episode will not be released. We believe it's the right thing to do.
We're going to let the court and the police do their job. We respect the process and we'll step back to allow the truth to take its course.
Just to be clear, this episode has no sponsor and none of our brand partners are involved in this matter.'
The team apologised for the disappointment and reaffirmed their commitment to telling 'real and meaningful stories.'

#SHOWBIZ: Influencer Asyraf Khalid: 'I'm upset by accusations of being a rapist'
KUALA LUMPUR: Entrepreneur and celebrity Asyraf Khalid, 33, has expressed his disappointment after being personally 'attacked' by an influencer. The incident followed a teaser for an upcoming interview on his podcast, Apa Cerita. "In the teaser, the guest's identity was revealed. However, after it was uploaded, an influencer published several posts publicly attacking me, claiming the guest was involved in various allegations of violence," Asyraf said. He added that this triggered a wave of attacks, including slander, extreme insults, and accusations that he found to be a threat to his dignity. "I tried to contact him personally to tell him the real situation. At the same time, my team and I decided not to air this episode to diffuse the situation and protect everyone's feelings," he said during an emergency press conference with his lawyer Abdul Hakeem Aiman at the Wan Shahrizal, Hari & Co office yesterday. Asyraf was particularly disappointed because the influencer continued to attack him, which led to netizens joining in the criticism. "I have also filed a police report at the Pudu Police Station yesterday and am considering taking appropriate action against any individuals involved. "We used to be friends; we know each other and have worked together. What makes me sad is why he is still attacking me even though I've decided not to air the interview? "He's even linked me to 'pedos' and 'rapists', even though I don't support that. What happened was very emotionally disturbing," he said. "People now think I'm a rapist, a 'pedo'. Some call me a fat kid. They call me Datuk K's son, and they've even started attacking my family." According to Asyraf, he is used to facing criticism from netizens, but this time it was the worst he has ever received, forcing him to explain the truth to his partners and sponsors. Meanwhile, Abdul Hakeem said that they are in the process of filing a defamation lawsuit against the individual involved. "We believe this is a reasonable matter for Asyraf to explain, but not via social media. "Following our discussion, a civil action under defamation law will be filed soon. However, we will not comment further on the legal action out of respect for the judicial process," he said.

Six MRSM students expelled over bullying in Melaka
KUALA BERANG: Six students from a Maktab Rendah Sains Mara (MRSM) in Melaka have been expelled following their involvement in a bullying incident last Friday. Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) chairman Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki confirmed the decision, stating that no appeals will be considered to ensure the punishment serves as a deterrent. 'The disciplinary committee meeting and investigation confirmed the students' involvement. MARA will not compromise on bullying for any reason. No excuse can justify such behaviour. How severe the bullying comes second. If you touch (bully), you go,' he said. Asyraf addressed the media after attending the Hulu Terengganu UMNO Division Meeting 2025 in Jenagor. He revealed that he had received multiple social media reports about the incident since Saturday and promptly instructed MARA's management to investigate, leading to the confirmed case. In a separate development, Asyraf announced a pilot project to recruit hostel wardens at MRSM Besut in Terengganu and MRSM Balik Pulau in Penang starting August. Each campus will have three male and three female wardens. If successful, the initiative will expand to 57 other MRSM institutions nationwide. - Bernama
