Housefull 5 Movie Review
Directed by
Tarun Mansukhani
, the film has turned out to be a major commercial entertainer.
Strong Opening Week Sets the Tone
According to the Sacnilk website, the film had a thunderous start with a ₹24 crore haul on Day 1, which only picked up momentum over the first weekend. With ₹31 crore on Saturday and ₹32.5 crore on Sunday, 'Housefull 5' closed its first weekend at ₹87.5 crore. The weekday performance also held well, bringing the first week total to a solid ₹127.25 crore.
Despite the expected drop post-weekend, the film maintained a decent pace throughout the weekdays and remained the top choice for family audiences and comedy lovers.
Week 2 Sees Predictable Drop But Holds Decently
In Week 2, 'Housefull 5' witnessed a 67.90% dip, collecting ₹40.85 crore over seven days. The second weekend managed to cushion the fall slightly with ₹6 crore on Friday, ₹9.5 crore on Saturday, and ₹11.5 crore on Sunday. However, the weekday numbers slowed down with collections ranging between ₹2.85–4.25 crore.
Even in its third week, the film managed ₹2.06 crore on its third Friday (Day 15), with Saturday's numbers yet to be finalized, indicating that the film is still drawing crowds in selected centres.
Star Power and Ensemble Cast Drive the Numbers
With Akshay Kumar leading a large cast that includes
Riteish Deshmukh
, Abhishek Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt,
Fardeen Khan
,
Nana Patekar
, Jackie Shroff, Jacqueline Fernandez, Sonam Bajwa, and more, Housefull 5 delivers the trademark slapstick chaos that fans expect from the franchise.
ETimes review for the movie reads, 'The film somewhat takes off in the second half but truly sheds its stagnancy only in the climax, a bit too late.
This also marks the arrival of Nana Patekar. The senior actor, a master of the genre (control Uday… control of Welcome) shows how it's done. As a dhoti clad interpol chief based in London, rooted in Maharashtra, Patekar is terrific and infuses life into this overloaded, derailed cruise.
Sajid Nadiadwala tries to blend comedy with murder mystery through his script and fails at both barring the climax. It's the last 20 minutes along with Nana's entry that truly entertain you. This is what you expected Housefull 5 to be… thrilling, unpredictable and funny. Sajid even manages to conceal the identity of the killer till the end, but the humour aspect falls miserably flat.'

Sitaare Zameen Par box office collection Day 1: Aamir Khan's film barely gets a double digit opening as he tries to prove cinema supremacy, earns Rs 11.5 cr

Sitaare Zameen Par box office collection Day 1: Aamir Khan is back on the silver screen with his latest film Sitaare Zameen Par and while the makers have tried to push the film via its extensive round of promotions on social media, it seems like the results aren't what Aamir would have hoped for. The film had more than 9500 shows on its opening day and didn't have much competition in the theatres, but, despite that, it has only made Rs 11.5 crore, as per industry tracker Sacnilk. Aamir has been promoting Sitaare Zameen Par by constantly reminding the audience that they won't get a chance to watch this film on a streaming platform in a few weeks' time, so this might be their only chance in the near future to watch the film. This was his way of pushing the theatrical business as he believes that the model of the movie business has suffered greatly since the pandemic because of the 8-week window that is followed by OTT platforms. It is yet to be seen if his bet will pay off as the film has received lukewarm reviews, and even the opening day collections aren't as big as he might have hoped. While the most advanced booking reports had pegged the movie to do under Rs 10 crore on its opening day, the 'spiritual sequel' of 2007's Taare Zameen Par has done better than that. The average occupancy rates across the Hindi shows were 21.34%, as the morning and afternoon shows achieved around 16% occupancy, while the evening and night shows did slightly better and saw 20.21% and 32.50% occupancy respectively. As per an advance booking report by Sacnilk, which mentioned the total number of shows organised and tickets sold, the average occupancy of the movie came out to just around 12 people in every theatre. ALSO READ: In Sitaare Zameen Par, Aamir Khan finally faces the man in the mirror, as he trades perfection for vulnerability Aamir's last film, 2022's Laal Singh Chaddha, which failed at the box office, had similar number of shows on its opening day and earned around Rs 11.7 crore. During its lifetime, the film made Rs 61.36 crore. Almost 18 years ago, Taare Zameen Par, which was also promoted in a similar vein, made Rs 63 crore during its run. It is interesting to note that even though both – Laal Singh Chaddha and Sittare Zameen Par – are remakes, the latter has a much smaller budget, and this time around, it's only Aamir who is doing all the heavy lifting as he is the only established star on the film's poster. After letting go of huge OTT deals and talking about bringing back the true theatre-watching experience, Aamir and the team will be hoping that this weekend goes better for them than it did the last few times. The cast of the RS Prasanna directorial also includes Genelia Deshmukh, Aroush Datta, Gopi Krishnan Varma, Vedant Sharmaa, Naman Misra, Rishi Shahani, Rishabh Jain and Ashish Pendse, among others. The story has been penned by Divy Sidhi Sharma, and the film has been jointly produced by Aamir and Aparna Purohit. Music for the film has been composed by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, and the lyrics have been written by Amitabh Bhattacharya.

Throwback: When Mohanlal's headstand pose went viral on International Yoga Day

(Picture Courtesy: Facebook) As the world celebrates International Yoga Day today, let's take a look at the time Mohanlal, the "Complete Actor" of Mollywood, made headlines with his awe-inspiring headstand pose (Shirshasana) that took the internet by storm. 'To celebrate mind, body...' Back in 2017, Mohanlal shared a striking image on Facebook where he was seen balancing flawlessly in a Shirshasana. Known for his agility and body control even in his 50s, the image showcased not just his physical flexibility but also his deep commitment to the ancient discipline of yoga. Alongside the photo, he captioned, 'To celebrate mind, body and soul – practice Yoga. #Yogaday.' Kannappa - Official Kannada Trailer Netizens react - Even 22 year old me can't do this... The post instantly went viral, receiving massive attention from fans and fitness enthusiasts. With over 47,000 likes, thousands of comments, and countless shares, the photo quickly became a motivational symbol of strength and balance. Waiting 4 villain. .." Another one wrote, "ഈ പ്രായത്തിലും ഇങ്ങനെയൊക്കെ കാണിക്കണമെങ്കിൽ ആളുടെ പേര് മോഹൻലാൽ എന്നായിരിക്കണം.(To be able to pull off something like this even at this age, the person's name has to be Mohanlal.)" A fitness icon at any age Mohanlal's dedication to fitness is no secret in the industry. Directors and co-actors have often praised his youthful energy and ability to perform physically demanding roles with ease. In 2021, Mohanlal once again used Yoga Day as an opportunity to advocate for mental and physical well-being. That year, he shared a peaceful photo of himself in meditation, encouraging fans to embrace yoga as part of their daily routine. His caption read, 'Practice Yoga for a healthy life #InternationalDayOfYoga #YogaDay.' These moments show that for Mohanlal, yoga is not just an occasional display but a way of life. Whether performing a difficult headstand or sitting in calm reflection, he continues to inspire millions to find balance, discipline, and peace through yoga. Work front On the work front, Mohanlal was last seen in 'Thudarum' which earned 3 stars out of 5 from ETimes, and our review read, "Jakes Bejoy's music elevates the scenes, making a real impact in the storytelling. Shaji Kumar's cinematography is excellent and it is perfectly coordinated with the edits by Shafeeque VB and Nishadh Yusuf. Their collective work lay the ground for the mood of the film. Tharun, whose last film Saudi Vellakka won a National Awards, could have done better to have created a more subtle story; this very much has an '80s-'90s feel. For Mohanlal fans, his raw magnetism might be exciting, but with its loud and overwritten scenes, the acting lacks nuance all around."

" Directed and written by acclaimed filmmaker Krishnadev Yagnik ,' Vash Level 2' is the much-anticipated sequel to the 2023 psychological thriller 'Vash.' A Spine-Chilling Reveal The poster reveals a dark, smoky background with a dominant close-up of Hiten Kumar's face — his eyes piercing through a shadowy veil, signaling the sinister forces at play. His eerie expression, paired with the tagline 'You will be helpless again,' sets a chilling tone, hinting that this sequel will dial up the horror even further. Netizens react Fans have already started reacting to the new look, calling it 'spine-chilling,' 'haunting,' and 'intensely powerful.' Another comment read, "Terrifying." Familiar Faces, New Horrors Actress Janki Bodiwala reprises her original role from 'Vash', continuing the storyline from where the first film left off. Joining her this time are Hitu Kanodia and Monal Gajjar, alongside Hiten Kumar, expanding the universe and raising stakes for the sequel. Janki's return adds continuity to the dark theme tale, while new characters are expected to deepen the emotional and supernatural layers of the story. With a gripping plot and a seasoned cast, 'Vash Level 2' aims to deliver an even more disturbing experience than its predecessor. Coming This August 'Vash Level 2' is all set to hit cinemas on August 27, 2025. With Krishnadev Yagnik returning at the helm and early promotional material already sending shivers down viewers' spines. Meanwhile, the first part was remade in Bollywood by the name 'Shaitaan' and starring Madhavan, Ajay Devgn, and Jyothika in the lead. The film earned 3.5 stars from ETimes and our review read, "Madhavan is outstanding as the malevolent figure and pulls off every sinister deed perfectly. Ajay Devgn delivers a powerful performance as a helpless but determined father. Jyotika stands her might, too. Janki Bodiwala deserves to be lauded for her pitch-perfect performance as the young girl under a devious spell. She laughs, cries, dances, and attacks on cue in immediate succession perfectly. Anngad Raaj as the son performs well, too. Even though Shaitaan's narrative stumbles at times, the masterful use of atmosphere and top-notch acting elevate it into an unsettling experience worth having." Shaitaan | Song - Aisa Main Shaitaan
