Kerry Katona reached out to ex Brian McFadden's new wife on their wedding day
Nearly twenty years after her split from Brian McFadden, Kerry Katona has shared that she reached out to his new wife, Danielle Parkinson, on their wedding day earlier this month.
Writing in her weekly column for New! Magazine, Kerry, who shares daughters Molly and Lilly-Sue with Brian, revealed she sent Danielle a text message on the morning of the ceremony, just days after reports claimed the former couple would 'never be friends.'
She wrote: "My ex, Brian McFadden, got married earlier this month and I just want to wish him and his wife Danielle a lifetime of happiness."
In response to claims that she had 'burned all bridges' with Brian, the singer hit back by continuing: "I find it sad though that as he gets married, everyone writes stories about me."
"His wedding has nothing to do with me at all. I texted Danielle to wish them a happy day– it looked like a beautiful celebration and I hope they had a ball," she concluded.
While Kerry's two eldest daughters attended the wedding, she didn't share whether or not they enjoyed the occasion. In addition to Molly and Lilly, Kerry is also mum to Heidi and Max, whose father is taxi driver Mark Croft and daughter DJ, whom she welcomed with her late third husband George Kay, the Mirror reports.
Kerry's olive branch to Brian and Danielle follows a rocky history between the former couple, with Kerry previously criticising Brian for being a "s**t dad" to their daughters.
Speaking on a podcast in 2023 she said: "He was a s**t dad. I'm the one who provides for them." According to a source last week, comments like these have reportedly put a strain on their co-parenting relationship.
"Kerry has burnt her bridges with Brian, thanks to years of speaking out of turn. She's got a heart of gold but a big mouth and that has always been her downfall," a source told The Sun.
"Kerry has a bad habit of not thinking before she speaks and it's landed her in hot water with Brian on many occasions. She'll say something publicly that is either outrageous or something she should have kept private between them and it gets her in trouble."
However, Kerry said just days before the reports that she would 'love' to rekindle her and Brian's friendship. Writing in her column last week, she said: "I wish Brian and I could have stayed friends. Molly went to watch him at a festival last week and I would have loved to have gone with her. It would be great to have a better relationship."
Brian rarely talks about Kerry and made a conscious effort to avoid mentioning her in last year's BBC documentary, Boybands Forever. In a toe-curling exchange, the interviewer asks him on camera: "Marrying Kerry, you're sort of…" as Brian quickly shut it down, saying: "I don't want to talk about her, no. Definitely no."

Kelsey Parker surrounds herself with family after loss of baby son in poignant snap
Podcast host Kelsey Parker has made a return to social media for the first time since announcing the devastating death of her third child as she takes a break away Kelsey Parker has surrounded herself with her family as she takes a much-needed trip away following the death of her third child. The Wanted star Tom Parker's widow sadly announced her third child was born stillborn last month. She shares her child with her partner Will Lindsay, and broke the devastating news on social media as she revealed they had a little boy named Phoenix. Since then, Kelsey has taken time away from social media and a break away from her day-to-day life. Marking her return to Instagram, Kelsey shared a family photo with Will and her two children with Tom, Aurelia, six, and Bodhi, four. They soaked up the sun in a hot location as they looked out at a stunning view together. The podcaster chose not to share where they have decided to take a break to, but said: "Exactly what we needed. Thank you @jet2 for making it so easy. X." Just last month, Kelsey shared the heartbreaking news of her son on her account. Her devastating tribute to her son included one simple heartbreaking caption: 'Phoenix Parker-Lindsay, you will forever be loved." She added a moving poem, entitled For Phoenix, Born Sleeping, Forever Loved. The poem read: 'The world grew quiet as you arrived, So loved, so longed for, yet not alive. Our precious boy, our angel light, Born with wings, took silent flight. 'We named you Phoenix, brave and bright. A soul of love, of warmth and light. Though we never heard you cry, You'll live in hearts that won't ask why. No breath you drew, no eyes to see, Still, you mean everything to me. You'll journey with us, softly near, In every sigh, in every tear.' Kelsey was flooded with support from her followers as well as celebrity pals, which she preempted with a message. In her post, she wrote: "Before I receive an influx of lovely messages and heartfelt wishes, I wanted to just say that I truly appreciate everything you are all going to say and share. "But with the news being so raw, I would really like to ensure that we as a family are given space and time to process this devastating and earth-shattering news. I love you all and thank you for your understanding and space. Love always, Kelsey, Will, and the Parker Family." Kelsey shares children Aurelia, five, and Bodhi, four, with The Wanted star Tom Parker, who tragically died from brain cancer in 2022 at the age of 33, four years after they married. She had opened up to the Mirror in January about her excitement at welcoming a third child into the family home which she now shares with tree surgeon Will, after finding love again last September. Confessing that the baby, which would have been Will's first child, was a "happy accident", Kelsey said she was gently preparing Aurelia and Bodhi for a new sibling. Will also told us: "I'm over the moon. This is something I've wanted for a long time. I couldn't be happier and I know Kelsey is going to be an amazing mum, as she already is."
