While chairing the 25th meeting of the Central Regional Council here, Shah said that the Central Regional Council is the only regional council where there is no problem or dispute of any kind between two member states and this is a great achievement.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami, Madhya Pradesh CM Mohan Yadav and Chhattisgarh CM Vishnu Dev Sai participated in the meeting.
Senior ministers of member states, Union Home Secretary, Secretary of Inter-State Council Secretariat, Chief Secretaries of member states and other senior officials of state and central ministries and departments also attended the meeting.
He said that while only 11 meetings of Zonal Councils and only 14 meetings of Standing Committees of Zonal Councils were held from 2004-14, 28 meetings of Zonal Councils and 33 meetings of Standing Committees of Zonal Councils have been held in 2014-25, which is a 2-fold increase.
He also said that so far 1,287 issues have been resolved in these meetings, which is historic and encouraging in itself.
In the meeting, the Home Minister also asked the member states to increase the income of Gram Panchayats and make rules for it.
He said that India's three-tier democratic Panchayati Raj system will become more effective only by increasing the income of Panchayats.
A total of 19 issues including broad topics of national importance were discussed in the meeting. These included various issues such as implementation of fast track special courts for prompt investigation and speedy disposal of rape cases against women and children, brick-and-mortar banking facility within the designated radius of each village and implementation of emergency response support system.
In the meeting, the Home Minister said that all the states of the regional council should ensure to eliminate malnutrition among children, reduce drop-out ratio to zero and strengthen cooperation.

Panel ex-member: SEP lacks fundamentals of edu policy
Chennai: In a strong criticism of TN's State Education Policy (SEP) , L Jawahar Nesan, a former member of the high-level committee formed to frame the SEP, said the policy lacked fundamental elements of an education policy and urged the chief minister M K Stalin to withdraw the policy. Stalin on Friday released the 67-page SEP document for school education. Jawahar on Tuesday told reporters, "The policy lacked any concrete idea or proposal for the educational upliftment of all children in the 21st century and it aligns in letter and spirit with the National Education Policy (NEP)." "Any public policy should be released first as a draft policy for public consultation. While some stakeholders were engaged in a limited manner through public hearings to inform the policy's context, the draft policy was not subjected to comprehensive public consultation before being unveiled. This approach contravenes the fundamental principles of inclusive and participatory public policy making," he said. He said Union govt also released the draft NEP 2020 before releasing the final version. The SEP appears to approach education in a lackadaisical manner, proposing populist slogans as solutions," said Jawahar. He said GO number 98, which gave terms and reference for the high-level committee, called for a distinct SEP for TN, keeping with the historical legacy, present situation, and future aspirations of the state. "The unveiled document does not reflect even an iota of understanding of what TN's distinct features, problems, conditions, and challenges are, nor how its recommendations can serve as genuine solutions to address these issues," he said. In a rebuttal, school education department said SEP preserves TN's educational autonomy while preparing learners for global challenges. "It provides a solid foundation to be built upon with regularly updated, measurable action plans. It also strengthens social justice, retains and upgrades welfare measures, and introduces future-ready curricula, ensuring flexibility," a release said. Union Cabinet approves 2 semiconductor projects worth Rs 4,009cr for Odisha
Bhubaneswar: Union Cabinet on Tuesday approved two major semiconductor manufacturing units worth Rs 4,009 crore for Odisha. The two projects, to be set up in Bhubaneswar's Info Valley, will generate thousands of high-skilled jobs, catalyse electronics manufacturing and help place Odisha on the global semiconductor map, sources said. The two manufacturing units will be built by SiCSem and 3D Glass. Given the growing demand for semiconductors in telecom, automotive, data centres, consumer electronics and industrial electronics, the newly approved projects will significantly contribute to creating an ' Atmanirbhar Bharat ', official sources said. Thanking Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the Cabinet's approval, chief minister Mohan Majhi said in an X post, "The recent amendment of the Odisha Semiconductor Manufacturing and Fabless Policy, aimed at enhancing investment viability, competitiveness, and sustainability, together with this significant Cabinet approval, marks a major milestone in the state's industrial and technological advancement. I look forward to continued partnership between the state and central govts to further this strategic initiative for the comprehensive development of Odisha and the nation." SiCSem Pvt Ltd, in collaboration with UK-based Clas-SiC Wafer Fab Ltd, will set up India's first commercial compound semiconductor fabrication facility here. The plant will manufacture silicon carbide (SiC) devices, known for their efficiency in high-power applications, with an annual capacity of 60,000 wafers and 96 million packaged units. The SiC devices will have applications across critical sectors, including missiles, defence equipment, electric vehicles (EVs), railway, fast chargers, data centre racks, consumer appliances and solar power inverters. The facility is expected to give India a strategic edge in producing next-generation power electronics domestically. The second project, by US-headquartered 3D Glass Solutions Inc (3DGS), will introduce the world's most advanced semiconductor packaging technology. The unit will manufacture glass interposers, silicon bridges and 3D heterogeneous integration (3DHI) modules. The component are crucial for miniaturisation, high performance and energy efficiency in electronics. With a planned capacity of about 69,600 glass panel substrates, 50 million assembled units, and 13,200 3DHI modules annually, the facility will cater to applications in defence, high-performance computing, artificial intelligence, RF and automotive electronics, photonics and co-packaged optics. Officials said the two projects will not only bring cutting-edge technology to Odisha but also create a ripple effect in the state's electronics ecosystem, encouraging ancillary industries and boosting technical skill development. Apart from two Odisha projects, the Cabinet also approved one project each for Punjab and Andhra Pradesh under the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM). Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan hailed the Cabinet's decision to set up the two units in Odisha. He said the decision is a pivotal moment for the state, emphasising its potential to create jobs and generate substantial revenue.
