Jess Redden says she feels 'more anxious' on second pregnancy after miscarriage

The wife of rugby player Rob Kearney has told of her anxiety of being pregnant a second time as she opens up about miscarriage.
Jess Redden announced earlier this week that she is expecting her second child with the retired rugby player. The couple are parents to toddler son, Bobby.
But the pharmacist admitted she feels "more anxious" during this pregnancy than her last after suffering an early miscarriage. Redden, who welcomed firstborn Bobby in August 2023, opened up about her loss during an Instagram Q&A with her followers.
"This pregnancy has been so different mentally," she began.
"I'm definitely more anxious, even though I was so anxious with [Bobby], this time it's even worse, maybe because you know how precious they are or having experienced early loss before this one, but having Bobby is a blessing because it keeps my mind busy."
The pharmacist said she suffered "awful nausea" in her first trimester, which she didn't experience with her first pregnancy. She also shared that she is suffering from an Overactive Bladder, despite having pelvic floor treatments last year.
"But my gosh are they worth every weird and wonderful change that happens to our bodies," she said.
Redden also said that the couple will not be finding out their babies' sex.
"I found out for Bobby and managed to keep it from Rob for months, because he wanted a surprise, until I saw a dad and his baby son in matching swim shorts and burst into tears. So, this time we aren't finding out because I don't trust myself not to let it slip again!"
Jess is currently 20 weeks' pregnant, with the couple expecting the arrival of their bundle of joy around Halloween.
Earlier this week, Jess captioned a photo, which showed her holding their firstborn Bobby above her growing bump.
"One more reason to believe in magic, a little more love is on the way," she wrote.
Rob told Ireland AM earlier this week that he is "very excited" to become a father again.
"It's great, we are very excited. Little Bobby is going to be a big brother. He doesn't know too much of it yet, his world is going to be turned upside down for a few weeks but he will be fine."

‘Trust is lost': Isak accuses Newcastle of broken promises in transfer drama

Alexander Isak's standoff with Newcastle threatened to descend into outright civil war on Tuesday night as the Sweden striker accused his club of breaking promises and betraying his trust. In an incendiary Instagram message he claimed their relationship 'could not continue'. Isak has been endeavouring to force a move to Liverpool all summer but, so far, at least Newcastle have proved resistant, rejecting one £110m bid as they struggle to find replacements. The striker was due to have attended the Professional Footballers' Association's players' player of the year awards in Manchester on Tuesday having been nominated for the top prize but sent his apologies via his explosive social media post. Shortly after Liverpool's Mohamed Salah won the main award for a third time, Isak's words sent shockwaves through the corridors of power at St James' Park. 'When promises are broken and trust is lost, the relationship can't continue,' he posted after expressing pride at being voted on to the PFA Premier League team of the 2024-25 season. Isak then thanked his teammates and 'everyone at Newcastle' for supporting him along the way before increasing the pressure on the club's Saudi Arabian owners to sanction his longed-for sale to Anfield. 'I'm not at the ceremony tonight,' he posted. 'With everything going on, it didn't feel right to be there. 'I've kept quiet for a long time while others have spoken. That silence has allowed people to push their own version of events, even though they know it doesn't reflect what was really said and agreed behind closed doors. 'The reality is that promises were made and the club has known my position for a long time. To now act as if these issues are only emerging is misleading. 'When promises are broken and trust is lost the relationship can't continue. That's where things are for me right now – and why change is in the best interests of everyone, not just myself.' Isak was understood to be furious when what he believed to be a promised pay rise was postponed last summer. At the time he had four years remaining on his £140,000-a-week contract. His camp claim that last spring he made it clear to Newcastle's manager and the club that he wanted to leave this summer but Howe and the board interpret things very differently. This summer Isak skipped the club's pre-season tour of Singapore and South Korea citing a thigh injury, undetectable on scans. He then spent a week training alone at his former club Real Sociedad, an excursion Howe only learned about through the media. More recently he has been training alone at Newcastle after other players have departed and was excluded from a club social barbecue after refusing Howe's overtures to reintegrate. Newcastle's manager has said that Isak is 'in control' of the situation. The board were preparing to fine the striker, who is understood to have rejected offers of a much-enhanced contract extension, the maximum permissible two weeks' wages after he missed last Saturday's opening game of the season, a goalless draw at Aston Villa. Newcastle have been approached for comment. Guardian

Explainer: Why the WWE Champion won't be at the Dublin Smackdown

WWE comes to Dublin this week, but this time it's for a historic first TV taping as Smackdown will air live from the 3Arena. It's set to be a huge show from the wrestling giants as they are on the road to their massive Clash in Paris show at the end of August. It will also mark John Cena's last appearance in Dublin as a WWE wrestler as the GOAT is set to retire from professional wrestling in December. Plenty of other stars are billed for the show including former WWE champion Randy Orton, current WWE Women's Champions Tiffany Stratton and the Women's Intercontinental Champion and Dublin's own Becky Lynch. However, one name that's set to miss out is current WWE Champion Cody Rhodes. Cody Rhodes makes his way to the ring during SmackDown in Montreal, Canada. Pic: Cooper Neil/WWE via Getty Images Rhodes became a two-time Champion earlier this month when he beat John Cena in the Main Event of Night 2 of Summerslam. It was a passing of the torch moment as Cena's record-breaking 17th World Championship reign ended, and Rhodes is now fully 'QB1' for this era of WWE. It was a huge moment for Rhodes and his loyal legion of fans, but in the aftermath of winning, he was attacked on the following Smackdown by Drew McIntyre, not to be seen since. John Cena congratulates Cody Rhodes after Rhodes won and became the WWE Undisputed Champion during SummerSlam. Pic: Elsa/Getty Images While in storyline 'The American Nightmare' Cody Rhodes has been put out of action after the attack, but in reality, Rhodes won't be on Smackdown this week as he is currently filming for the new STREET FIGHTER film. Rhodes, who has acted in the 'Arrow' series and in the new 'Naked Gun' film with Liam Neeson, is set to star as Guile in the new live-action STREET FIGHTER film. He teased a photo of him as Guile in an Instagram story over the weekend, all but confirming that he wouldn't be in Dublin this week. Pic: @americannightmarecody/Instagram His acting commitments have put his appearance at Clash in Paris in doubt, but one thing that has been confirmed as of writing is that John Cena will appear at the premium live event at Paris' La Defence Arena where he'll face YouTuber-turned wrestler Logan Paul. But first, Cena will be in Dublin this Friday and you can watch the live taping of Smackdown from Dublin's 3Arena on Friday 22 August, with the broadcast beginning at 8pm.
