Meghan's twerking video was so cringey it was like parody – but it did exactly what she wanted, expert says

Meghan's "cringeworthy" twerking video was like a parody - but it did exactly what she wanted, according to a royal expert.
Meghan, 43, posted the hospital twerk footage on June 3 to celebrate daughter Lilibet's fourth birthday.

However, Bronte Coy, the Royal Correspondent for Australian news site News.com.au, believes the release of the twerking footage was a tactical ploy by Meghan - and a very successful one at that.
Speaking on The Sun's Royal Exclusive YouTube series, hosted by our Royal Editor Matt Wilkinson, she called the video "very difficult to watch".
"I honestly genuinely had to go to her page to make sure it had originated there because I thought it was a parody," she added.
But she believes that Meghan is now in the influencer game and her goal is to get as many eyeballs on her content as possible - by any means possible.
Coy said: "She's someone who is now working as an influencer. The direct marketing campaign is to your Instagram audience.
"In that respect, I think she's got something like 42 million views on this video, which I think all of us were among them, but everyone I've ever spoken to seems to have been among them."
She added: "There are people watching what she's doing. That directly relates, I would assume, to the sales that she's having and eyes that are on her Netflix show and that are going to her website as ever.
"It was obviously very difficult to watch, it was quite cringeworthy but you are generating headlines.
"That is the aim of people in this space, but then when you compare it to how we would react with the working royals putting out that kind of content, I think it's apples and oranges. because, of course, looking at it through that filter, you think, what are you doing? This is not appropriate."

Wilkinson credits Meghan's decision to launched her Instagram account on January 1 as the move that kickstarted her move into the influencer sphere.
He said: "It started on January 1st with a huge explosion, and it hasn't stopped. It's been on fire all year.
"At the end of last year, I was going through all the Sun front pages, and I put them all out on X, to show what had happened throughout the Royal year.
"And Meghan wasn't on it. I think she was on once with Harry when Harry was in Canada, at a pre-Invictus Games event. She wasn't there. She wasn't big news last year.
"She is big news now because of her Instagram."
Coy says the Duchess is now living in a world in which "relevance is currency" - while The Sun's Royal Photographer Arthur Edwards believes Meghan wants to be "the second Gwyneth Paltrow."
Meghan has used her Instagram to show snapshots of her family life, as well as sharing details of her businesses and her Netflix show 'With Love, Meghan' which has been picked up for a second series.
While the panel agreed that we will be unlikely to see footage of William and Kate in the delivery room any time soon, there was a general agreement that Meghan is now operating in an entertainment capacity rather than a royal one.

ITV's Royal Editor Chris Shipp said: "It doesn't matter what people are saying about the video and, of course, some people loved it, other people absolutely hated it, but people are talking about them.
He added: "They did say after Harry's book that this was him closing the chapter on looking back all the time.
"'We're now going to look forward on our business, Meghan's business,' she doesn't care what people in the UK think about her twerking video in a labour ward four years ago.
"She cares about eyeballs, relevance, whether that translates into her business empire."
Ship added: "She sees potential in her brand and Instagram is the vehicle to get her that business and that custom and it's all about the United States, it's not about here."

Jane Fonda, 87, shocks Melbourne crowd with X-rated Trump rant and admits her 'shop is closed due to flooding' in astonishing tell-all

Hollywood legend Jane Fonda certainly got her money's worth – and then some – during a rumoured $300,000 appearance in Melbourne, holding absolutely nothing back despite battling a pesky cold. The 87-year-old Oscar winner, known for her trailblazing activism and iconic aerobics videos, unleashed a tirade against Donald Trump, dropping the F-bomb not once but twice, to a stunned crowd of more than one thousand women. Fonda, who reportedly eased her jet lag with a lavish stay in a diplomatic suite at the Park Hyatt and a shopping spree down Collins Street, gave a marathon performance. She charmed fans during a meet and greet before her no-holds-barred interview with Liz Hayes. The veteran star hilariously recounted her past sex scenes with Jon Voight, quipping she wished she'd had an 'intimacy coordinator that was tough.' But it was her candid admission about her current love life that truly raised eyebrows: 'I've closed up shop due to flooding,' she declared, to roars of laughter. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. The event, part of former Swisse Vitamins CEO Radek Sali's Wanderlust talkfest at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, began with a rather serene half-hour guided meditation on Thursday. However, any sense of calm was shattered once Fonda took the stage. It was Fonda's fiery 'call to arms' that proved the most explosive part of her appearance. She launched into a blistering attack on US President Donald Trump, labelling him 'that fu—er' as she urged the crowd to make a difference. The Grace and Frankie star was born in New York in 1937 to legendary Hollywood star Henry Fonda, and she is the sister of late actor Peter Fonda and aunt of retired actress Bridget Fonda. The seasoned activist, famously dubbed 'Hanoi Jane' for her stance against the Vietnam War, proudly spoke of her more recent arrests in her 80s for non-violent civil disobedience during climate change rallies. 'It feels so good to be arrested,' she confessed, highlighting her lifelong commitment to fighting for her beliefs. 'People who do things that are stupid, bad and cruel and hostile, like the people running my government now; they're not bad people, they're unwell,' Fonda declared, in her assessment of the former US leadership. The veteran actress also weighed in on American politics, acknowledging the millions who voted for Trump. 'In the United States, 78 million people voted for Trump, not all of them MAGA,' she noted. However, Fonda predicted a swift change of heart for many: 'But working class people are really hurting in the United States, men and women. They're going to have buyer's regret very soon about voting the way they did.' In a powerful and expletive-laden speech, Fonda roared: 'F--- those neoliberals and fascists and people who don't move to love. We have to move to love and empathy.' But it wasn't just politics on the agenda. During the pre-show meet and greet, the eternally youthful Fonda was quizzed on something far more personal: her sex life. And true to form, she answered with her signature bluntness. 'I don't get naked in bed with anybody anymore,' Fonda stated matter-of-factly. Then, in a candid admission that left jaws on the floor, she added: 'If I was going to have sex, I would want it to be with a 20-year-old. I like certain kinds of skin.' But I don't want to impose my old skin on somebody else, so I decided to quit altogether, and I'm so happy about it,' she concluded. Fonda was spotted at Sydney Airport on Friday, cutting a chic figure as she was wheeled through the terminal ahead of her highly anticipated one-off show, called In Conversation with Jane Fonda. Wearing oversized sunglasses, a sleek navy coat, face mask and sneakers, the Hollywood legend looked every bit the global icon as she rested in a wheelchair. Fonda will take the stage alongside Hayes at ICC Sydney Theatre on Sunday.

Pregnant Sophie Habboo shows off her blossoming baby bump in a hilarious slogan crop top as she shares series of stylish snaps

Pregnant Sophie Habboo proudly showcased her blossoming baby bump in a series of Instagram snaps shared on Friday. The former Made in Chelsea star, 30, flaunted her growing bump in a white crop top with the slogan 'Too Old For [Leonardo] DiCaprio ' printed on it as she posed for a mirror selfie. She also shared a stunning shot of herself in a white dress as she strolled through the streets of London while holding a iced coffee and her phone. Sophie also posted behind-the-scenes glimpses from the recording studio and a visit to the hairdresser as she documented the early days of her pregnancy. She wrapped up her photo dump with a fun picture of her husband, Jamie Laing, enjoying an ice cream, along with some delicious food she recently indulged in. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the Daily Mail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. Sophie revealed earlier this week on her and Jamie's newly named podcast NearlyParents, that she has struggled with some aspects of her pregnancy. She confessed that when her second trimester hit, she felt like she was 'dying' and was dealing with a lot of hormones that made her frequently feel irritated. 'This girl has gone from a bit of a b***h to don't come near me,' she quipped. 'Up until week eight, I was smooth sailing. No good aversions, no sickness, so much energy, I was like what is every talking about this is unbelievable. 'Week eight hit and everyone's starting to grate to me a bit. Like that man sat next to me on the plane breathing, like is it illegal if I punch him in the face? 'If you're a fan of the podcast, I love you so much but you're not going to like me if you meet me at the moment.' Jamie said he struggled to get his head around Sophie's mood changes with pregnancy, recalling: 'I asked Sophie if she had any cravings and she said, ''No, the only craving I have is hating you''. 'I then spent an evening on Reddit looking at "Why does your wife hate her husband so much when they're pregnant". He went on: 'Sophie is teaching me to drive and I'm a little bit nervous in the car and she goes "You're a s**t driver". I'm literally in my head going "Oh my god she's hasn't eaten this is really scary". 'Sophie then gets so angry she says to me "I'm so angry I want to drive us both into the back of this car and kill us". And then she started crying!' Sophie confessed that the 'anger is uncontrollable' but that it 'was very fleeting' as she lamented how her 'enormous t*ts' also meant she couldn't fit in any of her clothes. Jamie candidly told listeners how he owed her a real apology after not taking her hormones seriously and threatening to leave her over her 'grumpiness'. Sophie said: 'Jamie was like "Oh you're just milking it, you fake all your hormones, there's no such thing". He went "Oh you're just faking all of this." I was like "Oh my god" as I'm lying there with my enormous t*ts out and I can't fit into a single thing.' Recalling the incident in question, she went on: 'We are leaving and I feel really sick this day and Jamie gets his camera out and goes "I'm going to vlog today". Like on my Sunday that I'm about to vomit all day long. 'And what happened was Jamie sits down and he goes "I'm going to call my friends and ask them what I should do about this. Because I'm going to have to leave you. I'm going to leave you because you're just so unbearable right now."' Jokingly pretending to break down in tears, she shared: 'And I went "You're going to leave me and I'm pregnant".' It comes after the couple took to their podcast to tell their fans all about their impeding parenthood for the first time, where Sophie revealed some of the struggles she'd been dealing with in her pregnancy In defence of his actions, Jamie quickly added: 'The amount of people who are going to call me an a*****e. Just a caveat to add - I had no idea the emotional journey that you go on, how your body changes. 'I just didn't understand the extreme things that go on and since having read stuff on Instagram, I am awe of what you go through. The hormone change is wild.' Showing their Chelsea roots, the couple also revealed that Sophie's worst craving so far was for caviar, recounting how they had dashed round London trying to find a shop that was open at 8pm. Jamie explained they eventually found a caviar store only to discover a single pot cost £240, as he declared: 'I was like "Well that craving has to stop there and then". Sophie revealed that after some Googling, she learned it is recommended that pregnant people avoid the expensive delicacy due to the risks of bacteria and mercury. However, she confessed that the risks were the only thing that stopped her eating it, otherwise would not have allowed the hefty price tag to put her off.
