The Last of Us' Pedro Pascal pays tribute to co-star after tragic episode 2
WARNING: The following article contains spoilers from The Last of Us season 2, episode 2.
The latest episode of The Last of Us has stirred quite the buzz, with Pedro Pascal posting a frosty photo alongside co-star Kaitlyn Dever. Posing amidst a snowy backdrop, the two were all smiles for the camera as he dubbed them "Blizzard Buddies."
Pascal's affectionate caption read: "Blizzard Buddies. Thank you, scene partner. You little miracle. @kaitlyndever @thelastofus @hbo @streamonmax #Canada."
The warmth was reciprocated with Kaitlyn replying, "I love you! ! ! !" complete with a heart emoji.
This endearing thank you comes in sharp contrast to the brutal fate their characters endure on-screen, where Kaitlyn's character Abby violently ended the life of Joel in The Last of Us, reports

The drama unfolded in Wyoming's Jackson Hole settlement amidst a brutal storm and an invasion of 'infected', leading to a moment where Joel rescues Abby amidst the chaos. Abby, however, harbored vengeful motivations spurred by Joel's prior killing of her father five years earlier.
Abby ultimately exacts her revenge through a shot to Joel's leg followed by a lethal encounter with a golf club, while Ellie (portrayed by Bella Ramsey) is horrifically forced to witness the murder of her guardian figure.
Reflecting on his character's demise, Pedro revealed to Entertainment Weekly: "I'm in active denial. I realise this more and more as I get older, I find myself slipping into denial that anything is over.
"I know that I'm forever bonded to so many members of the experience and just have to see them under different circumstances, but never will under the circumstances of playing Joel on The Last of Us. And, no, I don't spend a lot of time thinking about it because it makes me sad."

Pedro, renowned for his portrayal as Prince Oberyn Martell in Game of Thrones, compared Joel's heart-wrenching death to that of the beloved Dornish Prince, with a touch of humor: "I get killed a lot. I like to die. I think this is the best one. No, it's in competition, I think, with Game of Thrones. It has to be. I love the golf club. I'm going to start golf."
The actor had been clued in on Joel's fate by executive producer Craig Mazin, setting him up for the inevitable departure from the series.
Fans familiar with the game's narrative braced for impact, yet many were still left reeling after Sunday night's episode aired.
One viewer expressed their dismay online: "I knew what was gone happen but it still sucks #TheLastOfUs."
The sentiment was echoed by another fan: "I cannot believe they're doing this so early into the season #TheLastofUs," while a third lamented: " WTF? ? ? Joel did not deserve that #TheLastOfUs."
The Last of Us season 2 airs on HBO in the US and on Sky and Now TV in the UK.

And I think that's refreshing, because usually we move around the world hiding who we are. That's the main lesson I've gotten from him: there's no reason for me to hide who I am, right? And I think people are seeing that." Lux Pascal, seen her with her sibling in January 2024, came out as trans in 2021 Revealing how she is coping during such an uncertain time for the trans community, Lux told THR: "Maybe it's not a good idea, but I'm focusing in my work. I'm doing stuff, and I want to keep my focus in that, and hopefully the storm will cease. "But I'm grateful, and I'm extremely privileged, and I think that continuing that route will help other people think with more ease. It is a difficult time, and I wish it wasn't as difficult. "I mean, we just went through a pandemic. Can we all just chill for a while and show empathy towards one another? I don't know, maybe I'm too much of a romantic,' she added. Yellowstone 1923 fans say this alternative ending is 'the ending we deserved'
Yellowstone enthusiasts are still grappling with the aftermath of the 1923 prequel season finale, which premiered on Paramount Plus on April 6. The series concluded with a bittersweet reunion between Alex (portrayed by Julia Schlaepfer) and Spencer Dutton (Brandon Sklenar), but their happiness was short-lived. Following the birth of her premature son, Alex tragically died in hospital after enduring harsh freezing conditions. Fans were left devastated as they had anticipated seeing Alex and Spencer together on the Montana ranch. The 'disappointing' conclusion has sparked fans to concoct their own alternate narratives, many of which have been circulating on Reddit. One such theory, proposed by Zestyclose-Rhubarb55, has been lauded as a stroke of brilliance. This fan envisioned a scenario where, post-train jump, Spencer encounters Teonna Rainwater's (Aminah Nieves) partner Pete Plenty Clouds (Jeremy Gauna), leading to an introduction to Teonna and her father. They also speculated about Alex working on the train to Billings, crossing paths with prostitute Lindy (Madison Elise Rogers), who is on a recruitment drive for more girls. This would lead to a meeting with Donald Whitfield (Timothy Dalton), who agrees to assist Alex in locating Spencer, albeit with hidden intentions, reports the Mirror US . Alex and Spencer Dutton in the 1923 finale (Image: PARAMOUNT) Numerous fans have expressed interest in this alternative storyline, particularly the potential encounter between Alex and Whitfield, culminating in Spencer coming to her rescue. Zestyclose-Rhubarb55 suggested that the finale should have wrapped up with Cara Dutton (Helen Mirren) and Spencer stumbling upon Mabel (Magdalene Keh-Vick), who reveals Whitfield's capture of Alex. In another storyline, Teonna and Pete set off for California to raise a family and work on a ranch. Meanwhile, Cara and Mabel confront Whitfield, persuading some investors to turn against his scheme. Spencer rescues Alex after a tense confrontation involving Whitfield, himself, and his beloved. Although Alex is wounded in the encounter, she pulls through and forms a bond with an injured Jacob (Harrison Ford) in the hospital, while Spencer and Cara eliminate Whitfield and deliver him to the notorious Train Station. The fan elaborated: "Flashforward three years. Alex and Elizabeth are laughing and giving each other tips over their clothing. Cara laughs at their foolishness and tells them their husbands would rather have a hearty meal when they get home then a gussied up wife. "Jacob disagrees as he struggles to keep up with their two toddlers. Spencer and Jack come riding up with ranch hands and dozens of cattle their have rounded up. The men dismount and run up to their beautiful wives who are happy and waiting for them." They added Elsa's narration about future challenges: "Elsa narration that they would see many hardships and struggles over the coming years but how all the hardships were worth what they had in that current moment." Cara and Jacob Dutton in 1923 Fans took to the comments section in droves to applaud the proposed finale, with one enthusiastic follower, Camperfan246, writing: "I'm going to pretend this is how it ended." EllieJamesYA was quick to add: "Would have been so much better!" And bud440 didn't hold back, stating: "Yep, much better than TS. I'm mad too!". I-have-thoughts also joined in, reflecting: "This is the ending we deserved. I can't believe people actually liked the ending of it." While Rockinarmy put things succinctly with the word: "This is remarkable." 1923 is available on Paramount Plus
