This project marks the directorial debut of
Kayoze Irani
, son of Bollywood's versatile star Boman Irani. 'Sarzameen' will be available for streaming on Jio Hotstar from July 25.

The project has been creating buzz right from the beginning, and it set the internet abuzz with the teaser release on Monday. Set against the politically charged setting of Kashmir, the teaser gives a glimpse of a star-centered around Colonel Vijay Menon (
Prithviraj Sukumaran
), an esteemed army officer whose life, marked by commitment and sacrifice, starts to fall apart as his personal responsibilities clash with his national obligations.
The teaser opens with an emotional reaction of Kajol, who is playing the character of a mother and wife trying to hold her home together in a storm of emotions. Last but not least, Ibrahim Ali Khan plays a young man who carries untold burdens and traumas.

Dharamshala (Himachal Pradesh) [India], July 1 (ANI): Hollywood actor Richard Gere on Tuesday joined in celebrations in Dharamshala and the surrounding regions of Kangra in Himachal Pradesh ahead of the 90th birthday of 14th Dalai Lama While the Dalai Lama's birthday falls on July 6 as per the Gregorian calendar, festivities began on June 30 in accordance with the Tibetan calendar. The event has been attracting spiritual leaders, dignitaries, and well-wishers who have been arriving from different parts of the world. Gere, is among the prominent people who have congregated in Dharamshala for the occasion that is attracting global spiritual leaders, dignitiaries and well wishers. Speaking to ANI during the event at Nechung Monastery, Gere remarked, "We're here in Dharamshala to celebrate His Holiness's 90th birthday, his good health, his strength and compassion. Nechung is one of my oldest friends... this monastery is very important to me and my son. "He's been to my home in the US. He's also very close to my son, and it's always a delight being here. I've seen the pleasure of being here many times, so I feel like I have a connection with Nechung now. It's always a delight being here," Gere said. In a significant ritual held at the Nechung Monastery, the Nechung Oracle, regarded as one of the protector deities of the Tibetan community, entered into a trance state to bless the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) and its leaders. CTA President Penpa Tsering, ministers, parliamentarians, and many Tibetan devotees were present for the event. Tsering explained the relevance of the ceremony, "This is the invocation of the Nechung Oracle. Nechung, along with Palden Lhamo, is an official protective deity of the Tibetan administration. We seek guidance from the oracle during periods of difficulty and uncertainty." On June 30 celebration at Tsuglagkhang, the main Tibetan temple in Dharamshala, the Dalai Lama made a brief public appearance and reaffirmed his dedication to peace, compassion, and service to the Tibetan people and the broader global community. The celebrations has drawn numerous interfaith leaders, underlining the Dalai Lama's influence beyond Buddhism. Swami Chidanand Saraswati of Parmarth Niketan Ashram said, "Dalai Lama ji is a blessing to the world. His message is clear: peace over conflict. We are here to celebrate his 90 years of love and healing." Sadhvi Bhagawati Saraswati emphasised the Dalai Lama's example of compassion in the face of adversity. "He has taught us that even amidst hurt, one can still choose love, forgiveness, and truth." Jain Acharya Lokesh Muni echoed the message of non-violence and dialogue, "Religion is meant to connect, not divide. On this occasion, we reiterate that war solves nothing, dialogue and understanding are the paths forward." From July 2 to 4, Dharamshala will host a three-day international Buddhist conference, bringing together senior monks and scholars from various global traditions. The event will culminate in a major address by the Dalai Lama, during which he is expected to speak on the future of the Tibetan reincarnation tradition, a topic of considerable interest within the global Tibetan and Buddhist communities. Additionally, the International Buddhist Confederation will host a special commemorative event on July 13 in New Delhi. (ANI)

Kajol's Maa Faces Tough Competition From Vishnu Manchu's Kannappa At Box Office

Kajol's mythological horror film Maa generated quite a buzz before its release as the actress returned to the screens after three years. But the film had a slow start when it released on Friday, June 27, however, it picked up a little pace over the weekend. Now, Maa has collected a total of Rs 19.90 crore in its first four days, according to the industry tracker Sacnilk. While the film isn't minting huge amounts, the mix of horror and mythology has won the audiences' hearts. Maa opened on a modest note with Rs 4.65 crore on its first day, June 27. Collections grew slightly on day 2, adding Rs 6 crore. Despite getting mixed reviews, the film continued the upward trend over the weekend and earned Rs 6.71 crore on day 3. On Monday, the film saw a significant dip, adding approximately Rs 2.25 crore to its total, according to early estimates by Sacnilk. The film has received a mixed critical reception, leading to an average Hindi occupancy of 12.67 per cent on Monday. The morning shows occupancy stood at 6.97 per cent, afternoon shows picked up to 14.46 per cent, and evening shows at 14.20 per cent. The night shows performed the best, with 15.05 per cent. The mythological horror film Maa brings together an ensemble cast of talented actors, including Kajol, Indraneil Sengupta, Kherin Sharma and Ronit Roy. It also features Jitin Gulati, Gopal Singh, Yaaneea Bharadwaj, Surjyasikha Das and Roopkatha Chakraborty in key roles for the dramatic clash. In the film, Kajol takes on the fierce role of a fearless mother who battles supernatural powers to protect her daughter from an evil entity. The film, directed by Vishal Furia, blends myth and mystery, relying heavily on the mother-daughter equation amid supernatural troubles. Produced by Ajay Devgn and Jyoti Deshpande under the banners of Devgn Films and Jio Studios, the film released in theatres on June 27. Meanwhile, Maa has faced stiff competition at the box office from Vishnu Manchu's star-studded film Kannappa, which features special appearances by stars like Akshay Kumar, Mohanlal and Prabhas. While Maa outperformed Kannappa on day 3 with Rs 6.71 crore versus Rs 5.66 crore, the latter regained momentum on day 4, collecting Rs 2.25 crore compared to Maa's Rs 2.25 crore. As of now, Kajol's horror drama stands at Rs 19.90 crore, while Kannappa has pulled ahead with Rs 25.90 crore over the same four-day period. First Published:
