A woman was shot in the neck and killed along the R300 on Saturday night in yet another brazen highway hit near the deadly N2 "Hell Run".
The 41-year-old woman had reportedly just finished changing her tyre when she was gunned down inside her car.
Police found her slumped behind the wheel and she was declared dead on the scene by paramedics.
Police spokesperson, Wesley Twigg, confirmed they are investigating a case of murder.
'The circumstances surrounding a shooting incident on Saturday evening at about 20:22pm, on the R300, where a 41-year-old female was shot and fatally wounded are under investigation.
'Police members attended the crime scene where they found the victim inside the vehicle with a gunshot wound to her neck.
'The victim was declared deceased on the scene by paramedics. The motive for the attack forms part of the police investigation.'
He added that no personal belongings were taken and that the suspects are still on the loose.
Meanwhile, Freedom Front Plus councillor Emre Uygun said the party is shocked that the incident happened so close to the notorious Hell Run.
'This horrific incident also follows closely on the heels of a similar case of attempted murder involving a female motorist that the party had recently highlighted in a press release this week.
'The Freedom Front Plus strongly condemns these brazen and violent attacks on female motorists, which demonstrates a clear disregard for human life.'
The 41-year-old victim was found slumped inside her car by police and declared dead on the scene.

The party is demanding that the national, provincial and local government hold an emergency meeting to come up with a proper plan to tackle the growing violence on the N2 and R300.
The Cape Argus sister newspaper, Daily Voice previously reported on a couple who were ambushed on the N2 Hell Run while heading to Cape Town International Airport.
Uygun added: 'According to reports, Sanral's monitoring system recorded over 200 crime-related incidents on the N2 and R300 in Cape Town in 2023, including stone-throwing and robbery targeting motorists.
'It is alarming that the closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras on this stretch of road are non-functional, and visible policing is clearly inadequate.'
The party said Sanral, SAPS and metro police must take action, including fixing broken cameras to catch the suspects and keep motorists safe, especially near the airport.

'Disappointed in the justice system' - Kidnapped baby Imaad's mother shocked by alleged kidnapper's bail release

Jennifer Hendricks comforts Imaan Sharmar, the mother of baby Imaad Sharmar who was allegedly kidnapped by Tafelsig resident, Sameemah Jacobs. Image: Genevieve sSerra The family of baby Mogamat Imaad Sharmar has expressed shock at the release of alleged kidnapper, Sameemah Jacobs, on R4 000 bail. Jacobs was granted the bail on Monday by the Bellville Magistrate's Court, nearly a month after she was arrested for Imaad's kidnapping. Jacobs is facing charges of kidnapping and defeating the ends of administrative justice. On Monday, Imaad's mother, Imaan Sharmar, was too emotional to speak with the media and had to be consoled by a relative by the bail decision was handed down. Once she regained her strength on Monday, Sharmar told the Cape Argus that she stood firm on her truth about what happened and was disappointed in the justice system. 'I strongly believe that the man above doesn't sleep and he has his plans ready. "I do feel like the amount of bail granted was quite little as it made me feel like that was my child's worth,' she said. 'I do feel like the justice system needs a major change because it seems as if you can do anything nowadays and get away with it either with bail or the amount of bail. Video Player is loading. Image: Genevieve Serra 'I trust and believe when trial starts that everything will be spoken about. 'I am shocked that she got bail, even though the magistrate was leaning towards it last week. 'I expected it, but hearing it was different and it actually sunk in that she is going to be free, enjoying her time with her family while I struggle to be strong enough to know that I'm safe, and suffering from things I never did. 'I pray that Allah helps me through this and gives me the strength and guidance because this is only the start. "I will stand firm and strong on my truth and know that justice will prevail for my son.' Imaad's paternal grandmother, Nabilah Saghar, told the Cape Argus they were still grappling with the decision made by the court. 'I am disappointed in the justice system,' she said. 'It is not the fact that she got bail but that bail was set so low. 'It's like you can get away with anything in this country.' Magistrate Gconbani Ndaleni granted Jacobs the R4 000 bail with strict conditions, which include that she may not visit Mitchell's Plain or Strandfontein, refrain from making contact with witnesses, and sign in at a designated police station. Jacobs's friends and former work colleagues came out in support of her, describing her as a caring individual who had marital issues and was not a monster. Emotional court hearing as State opposes bail for alleged cop killer

Family members of slain officer Van Rooyen and a group of traffic cops gathered outside before court proceedings to oppose bail after the court previously heard that the State wasn't planning to oppose De Lilly's release, despite him facing a Schedule 6 charge. Image: Armand Hough/Independent Newspapers There was drama at the Cape Town Magistrate's Court on Monday as traffic officers and family members packed the court to witness the bail hearing of alleged cop killer Craig 'Krake' de Lilly. The 41-year-old taxi driver stands accused of murdering traffic officer Walton van Rooyen in March 2020, and also faces charges of illegal possession of a 9mm pistol and 14 cartridges. De Lilly, his taxi assistant and two other men were arrested shortly after the shooting in Acre Road, Kensington, but the case was provisionally withdrawn just a month later. On Monday, family members of Van Rooyen and a group of traffic cops gathered outside before court proceedings to oppose bail after the court previously heard that the State wasn't planning to oppose De Lilly's release, despite him facing a Schedule 6 charge. However, things took a turn when the court heard that the State has now changed its tune and will in fact oppose bail, a move that shocked De Lilly's family. His lawyer told the court he has witnesses lined up to testify at the next appearance, and the matter was postponed to August 11. De Lilly's family said they were sad and disappointed by the State's sudden shift, but still had empathy for Van Rooyen's loved ones, however, said De Lilly is innocent. Video Player is loading. Image: Supplied His aunt told the Cape Argus sister publication, the Daily Voice that when De Lilly was convicted of rape and robbery, he was a minor, and while he got gang tattoos in prison, he was never actually part of a gang. 'He never wanted that life, but he didn't have a choice,' she said. 'If justice is fair we just hope they give him a fair chance to get bail. We feel for [Van Rooyen's] family, but Craig also has a family and he is a different person.' Mayco member for Safety and Security JP Smith said justice has been a long time coming. 'Just over a week ago we were informed that the suspect was re-arrested and many of us felt relieved. It has been a five-year wait for justice,' said Smith. 'I visited Walton's family at the time of his death and I can recall the heartache in the eyes of his relatives and friends. His death had a profound impact on the entire directorate. 'We believe that the State would not have recharged the suspect haphazardly and we have faith that they have applied their minds when assessing the docket. 'At the time of his death Walton was a father for two sons and the sole breadwinner for his elderly mother." Get your news on the go, click here to join the Cape Argus News WhatsApp channel. These are the words of Anushka Christians, a long-time friend of accused baby snatcher Sameemah Jacobs, who was released on R4 000 bail on Tuesday. Christians supported Jacobs throughout her bail application appearances at the Bellville Magistrate's Court following her arrest on charges of kidnapping and defeating the ends of justice after allegedly abducting 9-day-old baby Mogamat Imaad Sharmar on June 28. Magistrate Gconbani Ndaleni on Tuesday applied strict bail conditions to Jacobs, which include that she may not visit Mitchell's Plain or Strandfontein. @capeargus_news Alleged accused baby snatcher Sameemah Jacobs heard that she may not be in Mitchell's Plain or Strandfontein as part of her strict bail conditions. She is to sign in at a designated police station and will be living with a close relative. Ndaleni said that Jacobs was a mother of minor children who also had the right to be protected, was among the reasons why she was a suitable candidate for bail. He added that she was a first-time offender with no outstanding warrants or pending cases, and that she would not evade her trial. He said while he sympathised with the victim's family, the State did not provide exceptional circumstances to not allow her bail. Image: Ayanda Ndamane/Independent Newspapers "The release of an accused out on bail is not the question of guilt, that is for the trial to question," he said while quoting various case laws. Outside court, Jacobs's close friends said she was a caring mother and not the evil person people believed her to be. 'We have been friends since 2014,' said Christians. 'She is not a monster, she is a very soft-hearted lady. 'I know Sameemah as a supportive mother to her children and to children in her community. 'She helped me a lot with my two boys, whenever she could, she would assist me. 'I got a call from a friend on the evening of June 30 to say the police are at Sameemah's mother's house and I asked what was happening there and they said 'the baby', I couldn't even speak. "I told myself this cannot be true, what happened here? What triggered her mind? 'I will not say that she is innocent; if she is found guilty at the end of the matter, so it must be. 'I am just here to tell you that she is not a monster, she is a very good woman at heart.' Jacobs's friend, Mishkah Hendricks, looked after her three children. 'It is very emotional for us and the children,' she said. Another friend of hers, Shamielah Davids, said she did not want to speculate about her innocence or guilt. 'Like they say, you are innocent until proven guilty,' said Davids. Jacobs was consoled by a friend after being released from the court's holding cells. She appeared in good spirits as she walked towards her friends and covered her face with a jacket. The decision to release her however, left Sharmar in tears and she had to be consoled by her aunt, Jennifer Hendricks. Inside court, Sharmar wept and was too emotional to speak with the media, as she was led away by relatives. The State is set to prove that Jacobs kidnapped baby Imaad from his mother at Middestad Mall in Bellville on June 28 under the pretence that she was a volunteer for an NPO. The infant was found in Jacobs's home and she claimed he was her baby. Get your news on the go, click here to join the Cape Argus News WhatsApp channel. Cape Argus
