Kondapalli fort comes alive with yoga enthusiasts
District Collector G. Lakshmisha said that the administration has been organising programmes as part of the month-long Yogandhra campaign in every village, mandal, tourist and historic sites since May 21. The administration had also organised such programmes at the Gandhi Hill, Pavitra Sangam, and Haritha Berm Park in Vijayawada.
Mr. Lakshmisha encouraged people to practise yoga every day for 45 minutes for a healthy life. 'Yoga is panacea to all the lifestyle problems youngsters are falling prey to, such as BP, diabetes, hormonal imbalances and stress,' the Collector said while adding that the aim of organising such programmes is to increase awareness among the people about its benefits.
Later, A.P. Non-Gazetted Officers' Association State president A. Vidyasagar thanked the administration for organising such programmes and encouraged public to make yoga a part of their lives.
The fort came alive with cultural programmes, conducted by the Amaravati Yoga and Aerobics, as part of the programme. Students from the Sirisha Yoga Academy and Government Nursing College impressed the enthusiasts with their Operation Sindoor-themed performance.
District officials, public, students, members of the A.P. State NGO members took part.

Students told to avail facilities provided in schools
Vijayawada: NTR district collector Dr G Lakshmisha said the state government has conducted the Mega Parents-Teachers meet to bring together parents, teachers and the students for the comprehensive development of the children. He said the government is providing facilities in the government schools on par with the private schools and students should take full advantage of these resources to achieve great heights in life. He was the chief guest at the Mega Parents and Teachers Meet 2.0 held at Zilla Parishad Girls High School in Kondapalli of Ibrahimpatnam mandal, along with local public representatives and officials on Thursday. He explained that with the aim of providing a bright future for children, Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu and Education Minister Nara Lokesh have launched several innovative initiatives. Collector stated that approximately 3 lakh students and their parents participated enthusiastically across 1,453 schools in the district the Mega PTM 2.0. He said for the first time, PTMs are being conducted in private institutions also. He said these meetings allow for mutual exchange of information regarding academic standards, students' behaviour at home, and their interests. Dr Lakshmisha urged the students to make the best use of government-provided resources such as quality education, infrastructure, uniforms, textbooks, and nutritious mid-day meals and suggested to set goals like to become doctors, engineers, scientists, IAS or IPS officers and work with sincerity to achieve them. Schools, he said, are like temples where the foundation for children's dreams and aspirations is laid. The collector also noted that progress reports once seen only in private schools are now available in government schools in the form of Holistic Progress Cards due to reforms introduced in education. Collector Lakshmisha stressed the importance of cyber awareness from a young age to prevent falling victim to cybercrimes and frauds by criminals. With proper precautions, students can stay safe online. He also highlighted how substance abuse can destroy lives and families. Posters with the message 'Say No to Drugs, Bro' were released during the meeting. The principal presented the school's progress report, and the children gave impressive cultural performances. Collector Lakshmisha also enthusiastically participated in a Kolatam (traditional folk dance) performance and later shared a meal with students and parents. He took photos at the selfie stand and planted a sapling in the school premises. NTR DEO YV Subbarao, Kondapalli Municipal Chairman Chennuboyina Chittibabu, Municipal Commissioner Ramya Keerthana, Education Committee Chairperson Sheikh Bajibi, Headmistress B Hemalatha, Eagle Cell SI M Veeranjaneya, local public representatives, and others were present. On the other hand, thousands of parents enthusiastically participated in the MPT meeting held across the government and private schools across the NTR district. MLAs, local people's representatives, government officials and NGOs participated in the meetings and gave valuable suggestions to the students and parents. Parents spoke to the teachers and enquired about the studies and progress of the children.

Health min calls for reduction in C-sections in govt hospitals
Vijayawada: Minister for medical, health and family welfare Y Satya Kumar Yadav urged secondary hospitals to reduce Cesarean operations and promote natural childbirths. He noted that 41 per cent of deliveries in these hospitals are C-sections and requested strategies to lower this rate and increase natural births. At the launch of a four-day state-level training programme for district coordinators of health services (DCHSs) from 26 districts at the secondary health directorate office in Tadepalli on Tuesday, the minister called for reforms in DCHS operations. He stressed the need for better leadership, accountability, and service delivery in public healthcare. The training aims to address issues identified during a recent review with DCHSs and district medical and health officers (DM&HOs) to improve service quality. Satya Kumar encouraged district officials to lead teams and foster coordinated efforts for better healthcare. He also introduced a mobile application developed by the secondary health directorate to support this effort. Addressing allegations of hospital corruption, the minister stated that corruption will not be tolerated. He directed DCHSs to ensure transparency, take responsibility, and compete to improve medical service quality. He added that field visits are crucial to identify hospital and healthcare system issues. He emphasised punctuality in hospitals, warning that doctors who fail to comply will face strict action. Satya Kumar described health as the foundation of economic progress and urged a committed approach to achieving Viksit Bharat and Swarnandhra Pradesh goals. He instructed DCHSs to strengthen NTR health services in secondary hospitals and increase pre-authorisations under the scheme. The minister detailed infrastructure upgrades, including ultrasound services in 90 hospitals, 149 X-ray machines installed, tele-radiology services in 89 hospitals, 20 new dialysis centers, and 13 Integrated Public Health Laboratories (IPHLs) offering 139 diagnostic tests since the NDA government took office. Over 15,000 doctors serve in the public health sector, including DMHOs, DCHSs, and state-level officers. The minister urged them to develop leadership skills for efficient administrative management. He reported an increase in secondary hospital attendance from 60 per cent to 84 per cent, aiming for 95 per cent. Of 12,779 sanctioned posts in 242 secondary hospitals, 1,803 are vacant, though 462 doctors were filled in the past year.

Lieutenant General Rahul R Singh, the deputy Army chief (capability development and sustenance), said at an event: 'When the DGMO [director general of military operations]-level talks were going on, Pakistan actually was mentioning that 'we know that your such and such important sort is primed and it is ready for action...I would request you to perhaps pull it back'. Read on. The Kerala government issued a high alert in three districts after two suspected cases of the Nipah virus were detected in the state. One of the cases was later confirmed. The alert was issued for Malappuram, Palakkad and Kozhikode districts. State Health Minister Veena George convened an emergency meeting and confirmed that preventive actions had been intensified in line with the Nipah virus protocol. Police assistance had been sought to help trace persons who may have been in contact with the suspected cases, the minister said. Twenty-six rapid response teams had been deployed to carry out contact tracing, monitor symptoms and spread public awareness. Since 2018, Kerala has experienced five Nipah outbreaks. Read on. Witness testimonies and videos from the violence in Uttar Pradesh's Sambhal in November 'contradict the official narrative' that the crowd protesting a court-appointed survey was violent, said a fact-finding report by a civil rights groups. 'Rather, they [testimonies and videos] depict excessive force by the police, including unlawful entries into homes, destruction of property and beatings,' said the report released by non-governmental organisation Association for Protection of Civil Rights and solidarity campaign Karwan-e-Mohabbat. The report pertained to the violence that broke out in Sambhal on November 24 after a group of Muslims objected to a court-ordered survey of the Shahi Jama Masjid in Chandausi town. A trial court had ordered the survey in a lawsuit claiming that the mosque had been built in 1526 by Mughal ruler Babar on the site of the 'centuries-old Shri Hari Har Temple dedicated to Lord Kalki'. Five persons were killed in the violence.
