Josh Brolin Doesn't Seem Too Excited About a Potential GOONIES 2 — GeekTyrant
Fans have been excited about the possibility, and many of the original cast members seem ready to return. But there's one major cast member who isn't exactly jumping for joy at the thought..Josh Brolin.
Brolin, who famously played Brand Walsh in the 1985 adventure classic, has since gone on to star in massive hits like No Country for Old Men , True Grit , Avengers: Endgame , Dune , and Deadpool 2 .
During a recent interview with io9 for his upcoming film Weapons , the actor was asked about the status of Goonies 2 and whether he'd be interested in coming back. His answer? Pretty hesitant.
'I would [have trepidations],' Brolin admitted when asked if he'd return to play Brand.
When pressed on why he feels that way, he explained:
'Because I love The Goonies , [but] it's been 41 years. Let it lay. I mean, no, I love the idea, but I don't know. If they made one with different kids, then it becomes a different thing, and I think it taints the original one.
'I think people get excited, and people who were in the original movie, they get excited about being able to work with that group again because it was such an amazing experience. So do I think it should be done? I don't know, man. I love it just standing like it does.'
That's a pretty strong statement, and it sounds like if Goonies 2 does happen, it might have to do so without Brolin. That could work as Brand was always a bit on his own path in the original film, so the story could easily explain his absence.
Then again, the sequel could go in a completely different direction with a new group of kids and another mystery tied to One-Eyed Willy.
But Brolin's perspective makes sense. Forty years is a long time, and sometimes it's better to let a classic remain untouched. Whether Warner Bros. agrees with him, or whether fans even want a Goonies 2 without the full original cast, remains to be seen.
Would you want to see The Goonies return after all this time, or should it stay a one-of-a-kind adventure?

As Sheetz is teasing an appearance in Pittsburgh on Friday from The All-American Rejects, a frenzy of fans has descended on the gas station chain on Stubenville Pike. Fans flock to Dodger Stadium for chance at Kobe Bryant bobblehead
Hundreds of fans flocked to Dodger Stadium well before game time on Friday in hopes of securing a highly-anticipated Lakers-Dodgers crossover bobblehead featuring NBA legend Kobe Bryant. The figurine features Bryant in his No. 8 Lakers jersey while holding a baseball bat. The giveaway was planned in accordance with Aug. 8, or 8/8, signifying the first of Bryant's two numbers while with the Purple and Gold. It's the second Dodgers bobble head giveaway featuring Bryant in recent years. In 2019, they handed out a figurine of the late-Bryant standing with his arms raised while wearing a Dodgers hat and jersey. It was modeled after his reaction to Yasiel Puig's World Series home run. The first 40,000 fans that pass through Dodger Stadium gates will be given a bobblehead. Game time is scheduled for 7:10 p.m. against the Toronto Blue Jays, who are currently first place in the American League East division. Bryant's wife and daughters will be on hand to throw out the game's first pitch as well before officially beginning the game with Vin Scully's best-known catchphrase, "It's Time for Dodger Baseball!" Like with all Dodgers bobbleheads, Friday's giveaway is expected to fetch top dollar on the resale market. Even two hours ahead of game time, people had began to post eBay listings that started bidding at $200. In recent seasons, any Shohei Ohtani giveaway has created unmatched fan fervor, especially when the team announced that some even more limited versions of his bobbleheads, completely goated in a gold layer, would be given away. With Bryant's noted significance to the people of Los Angeles, especially after his death in 2020, Friday's giveaway should create the same chaotic scene as the figurines are handed out.
