WNBA reality TV: Minnesota Lynx 'Stud Budz' live stream dominated All-Star weekend
One half of the "Stud Budz," Hiedeman and her Lynx teammate Courtney Williams — who both have pink hair —started a live stream on Twitch a couple of months ago and spent All-Star weekend giving the fans a behind-the-scenes look at the W. Their Twitch bio describes the stream as "just two Stud Budz who hoop and live our best life."
"It really started off as two friends, we knew about Twitch, and said, 'Let's just start streaming,'" Hiedeman said, not pausing the stream to do an interview with USA TODAY Studio IX. "It's a platform that's unique, that really no one in the W has touched, so we was like, 'Let's be the first ones.'"
Williams, playing on Team Collier, said the 72-hour All-Star stream has been eye-opening.
"We are so surprised, honestly, we did not know how much love we'd be getting," Williams said. "I think people just love getting that behind the scenes, being so authentic, seeing players mess with us."
There were close to 15,000 people streaming the duo as they made their way through Indianapolis this weekend. All-Star captains Caitlin Clark and Napheesa Collier talked to Hiedeman about the Twitch stream before their pregame media availability on Saturday.
"How does your phone not overheat?" Clark asked.
Then she copped to being a fangirl. "I was watching the live stream all last night, downstairs on my TV."
Team Collier's Angel Reese said the authenticity of the Stud Budz is what sets the content apart.
"It's like a reality TV show with them," Reese, a member of the Chicago Sky, said. "They have made it the best. No matter where we are, what party we at, the players made the weekend what it is and you really enjoy the moment because it's so much fun.
"Getting to know everyone off the court. You're battling all year, it's competition, but just being able to build relationships has been great. I am happy for what they are doing, I hope they continue to do it and make some money."
The best moment of All-Star weekend?
"Not a favorite moment, but Stud Budz has been the highlight of, I think, everybody's weekend," Collier said.
Hiedeman said the sky is the limit now that their brand has been unleashed."We going to be at the Grammys, ESPYs, what other live events?" Hiedeman said. "Paris fashion week, the Met Gala — anything big and, like a good time, if it's fun and live, call us and we will be there."

Caitlin Clark to get other opinions on right groin injury, uncertain timeline to return to Fever
INDIANAPOLIS — Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark will be getting another opinion on her right groin injury, coach Stephanie White said Sunday as the team returned to practice. Those evaluations and meetings with doctors will paint a clearer picture on how long her recovery will take, and White already said she doesn't anticipate Clark to play against New York on Tuesday. Clark, along with fellow All-Stars Aliyah Boston and Kelsey Mitchell, weren't at practice Sunday afternoon so they could rest after the All-Star Game. "She's going to see some doctors and get some more tests around early in the week," White said. "You know, I don't expect her to be available on Tuesday, so we're just going to continue to take it one day at a time and let her get her evaluations early this week and then once we've done that, hopefully we'll have a clear line of what it looks like." Re-live Caitlin Clark's rookie season with our commemorative book Clark suffered the right groin injury on July 15 against the Connecticut Sun in Boston. While it's unclear specifically when she suffered the injury, she was in visible discomfort with about 30 seconds left in the game after a bounce-pass assist to Mitchell. She twisted to get away from defender Leila Lacan, then twisted to bounce the ball to Mitchell, then turned around and immediately grabbed her her right upper-thigh groin area, tears already welling up in her eyes. She got some imaging in New York, where the Fever played the Liberty on July 16, and was ruled out for that game. This is the fourth muscle injury for Clark this season, which has caused her to miss 11 of the Fever's 23 regular season games along with the Commissioner's Cup. Clark missed the Fever's preseason opener with left quad tightness, then suffered a left quad strain May 24 against the Liberty. She missed five games with the quad strain. Then, shortly after returning from the quad strain, she suffered a left groin injury that kept her out another five games. She played four games in her return from that injury before this fourth injury popped up. Clark had to pull out of the 3-point contest and the All-Star game, where she was a captain in her home city, because of her most recent injury. It's been a frustrating few months for the star guard but she's trying to take a positive approach as much as possible. "When the injury happened, it was pretty frustrating, considering, I knew what the coming days were gonna hold for myself," Clark said Saturday ahead of the All-Star Game. "But I feel like dealing with that, and then also just like trying to look at it in the most positive manner that I can. ... I think just it all comes back to having good perspective on everything." Indiana Fever update Caitlin Clark injury status, availability vs New York Liberty
With the 2025 WNBA All-Star break concluded, the Indiana Fever provided an injury status update to star Caitlin Clark entering their Tuesday night matchup against the New York Liberty from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. Clark, who suffered a right groin injury late in the Fever's July 15 victory over the Connecticut Sun, missed Indiana's blowout loss against the Liberty last Wednesday and opted out of the entire All-Star weekend to focus on her recovery. According to head coach Stephanie White, the Fever do not anticipate Clark being made available when they take the floor in Brooklyn on Tuesday. "I haven't seen C [Clark] since the game last night, but I think she's progressing. I think that we're continuing to address everything that needs to be addressed. She's going to see some doctors and get some more tests done early in the week. "I don't expect her to be available on Tuesday, so we're just going to continue to take it one day at a time and let her get her evaluation early this week. Once we've done that, hopefully we'll have more of a clear mind of what it looks like," White said of Clark's status. With Clark most likely unavailable for Indiana, the team will need to rely heavily on Kelsey Mitchell and Aliyah Boston to bear the load on offense with impactful contributions off the bench for the time being. Indiana's Tuesday night clash with New York will tip off at 7 p.m. CT and will be broadcast on ESPN. Who's better: Cassius Winston or Braden Smith? Social media buzzing about this player debate
Social media was buzzing this week after an analyst gave Cassius Winston the nod over Purdue's Braden Smith in a 2020s All-Big Ten list Who is a better and more accomplished point guard: Michigan State's Cassius Winston or Purdue's Braden Smith? This question has been a hot debate on social media this past week. Rapheal Davis of the Big Ten Network sparked a hot debate this week when he unveiled his All-Big Ten teams of the 2020s, with one of the biggest discussions on social media being centered around Winston and Smith. Davis gave Winston the nod as the first team selection at point guard over Smith -- who landed on Davis' second team. It's even more notable that Davis that gave Winston the nod over Smith since Davis played at Purdue himself and could have easily gave his former school's guy the nod in a toss-up decision. Davis noted that Smith could surpass Winston with a strong upcoming senior season, but some (probably many Purdue fans) felt he already deserved the nod over the Spartans legend. When comparing the two star point guard's careers, they are very much similar with both experiencing both personal and team success during their time in college. Smith, of course, still has one more year to further improve his legacy -- and it doesn't hurt his case that the Boilermakers are considered a preseason top five team nationally (in large part to his return for his senior season). To complete a side-by-side comparison, here is a link to Winston's sports reference page and here is a link to Smith's. So who would you personally give the nod too? If you're reading this article, you're probably like me and a Spartan, which means you would lean towards Winston. But I do respect the argument for Smith, and wouldn't be opposed to him moving into the first team slot should he have another strong year this upcoming season. Regardless of which way you lean, it's a fun debate to have in the middle of July and I personally thank Davis for putting this list together for some fun Big Ten basketball banter in the heart of summer time. Click on Davis' social media post below to see his three All-Big Ten teams of the 2020s and to also check out the replies in relation to the Winston-Smith debate. There are definitely some good responses in favor of both the Spartans and Boilermakers lead guy at point guard worth taking a look at on X.
