Caitlin Clark to get other opinions on right groin injury, uncertain timeline to return to Fever

INDIANAPOLIS — Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark will be getting another opinion on her right groin injury, coach Stephanie White said Sunday as the team returned to practice.
Those evaluations and meetings with doctors will paint a clearer picture on how long her recovery will take, and White already said she doesn't anticipate Clark to play against New York on Tuesday. Clark, along with fellow All-Stars Aliyah Boston and Kelsey Mitchell, weren't at practice Sunday afternoon so they could rest after the All-Star Game.
"She's going to see some doctors and get some more tests around early in the week," White said. "You know, I don't expect her to be available on Tuesday, so we're just going to continue to take it one day at a time and let her get her evaluations early this week and then once we've done that, hopefully we'll have a clear line of what it looks like."

Clark suffered the right groin injury on July 15 against the Connecticut Sun in Boston. While it's unclear specifically when she suffered the injury, she was in visible discomfort with about 30 seconds left in the game after a bounce-pass assist to Mitchell. She twisted to get away from defender Leila Lacan, then twisted to bounce the ball to Mitchell, then turned around and immediately grabbed her her right upper-thigh groin area, tears already welling up in her eyes.
She got some imaging in New York, where the Fever played the Liberty on July 16, and was ruled out for that game.
This is the fourth muscle injury for Clark this season, which has caused her to miss 11 of the Fever's 23 regular season games along with the Commissioner's Cup. Clark missed the Fever's preseason opener with left quad tightness, then suffered a left quad strain May 24 against the Liberty. She missed five games with the quad strain.
Then, shortly after returning from the quad strain, she suffered a left groin injury that kept her out another five games. She played four games in her return from that injury before this fourth injury popped up.
Clark had to pull out of the 3-point contest and the All-Star game, where she was a captain in her home city, because of her most recent injury. It's been a frustrating few months for the star guard but she's trying to take a positive approach as much as possible.
"When the injury happened, it was pretty frustrating, considering, I knew what the coming days were gonna hold for myself," Clark said Saturday ahead of the All-Star Game. "But I feel like dealing with that, and then also just like trying to look at it in the most positive manner that I can. ... I think just it all comes back to having good perspective on everything."

'The first part of the season I had surgery, [and] it was tough to come back [from], then I went to Eurobasket and it helped me a lot…so when I came back, I just wanted to play and be the same as I was over there," Allemand said after he big game. "That's what I'm doing right now and I'm feeling way more comfortable in this team. So yeah it's been great, but the most important is the win and tonight was an important one." Former MLB star shares bold Padres take amid pursuit of Dodgers for NL West

Former MLB star shares bold Padres take amid pursuit of Dodgers for NL West originally appeared on The Sporting News The San Diego Padres are 64 and 51, two games behind the Los Angeles Dodgers for the NL West division lead. San Diego isn't far behind the Dodgers, despite the early-season lead the Dodgers built. With the lead down to just two games, the Padres are coming off an active trade deadline. Former MLB star Cameron Maybin on Foul Territory shared a bold take on the Padres' pursuit of the Dodgers to sit atop the NL West. "Things just feel right for the Padres," Maybin said. "Right now, I love the pieces that they added (to the lineup). Defensively, I think they're better. I think the starting rotation is better right now." Maybin, who played in San Diego for four seasons, believes the Padres can surpass the Dodgers in the NL West. Thanks to an active trade deadline from A.J. Preller, the roster looks to be stronger from top to bottom. Their lineup is dramatically improved from where it was before the deadline. With the additions of Ryan O'Hearn, Ramon Laureano, and Freddy Fermin, the new-look Padres lineup is much deeper than it was earlier in the year. In the starting rotation, they held onto Dylan Cease, added JP Sears (who was sent down to the minors), and added Nestor Cortes. Michael King is getting healthy, and Nick Pivetta has been great in 2025. While the Dodgers' rotation is one of the best in baseball, the Padres' rotation isn't far behind. But that's not where their strength lies. The Padres' strongest area of the roster is in the bullpen. Robert Suarez, the MLB saves leader, stayed with the team despite trade rumors. Those two are just scratching the surface. Adrian Morejon and Jason Adam, with 2.05 and 1.78 ERA's respectively, were both All-Stars this season. Jeremiah Estrada has a 2.61 ERA and has been great this season. The team's sixth reliever, Wandy Peralta, has a 3.10 ERA and is having a strong year. From top to bottom, the Padres' bullpen has been incredible. They're the best bullpen by ERA in baseball with a 2.99 ERA, 0.32 better than the Texas Rangers, the team with the second-best bullpen. Thanks to a revamped roster after the trade deadline, Maybin believes the Padres can surpass the Dodgers to win the NL West. Sitting just two games back with a little under two months to go, there's plenty of time for Maybin's belief to come true. NFL Analyst Defends Disgruntled Cowboys Star in Fiery Rant

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Once again, the Dallas Cowboys find themselves caught up in off-field drama regarding the contract situation of a key player. As things continue to unravel, one analyst sounded off on Jerry Jones for how he's conducted business thus far. Earlier this year, Micah Parsons and Jones reportedly had talks about an extension for the All-Pro linebacker. Despite things almost being worked out at one point, it's slowly evolved into a worst-case scenario for the Cowboys. The front office has had little to no talks with Parsons' agent, resulting in a growing frustration that led to a stunning trade request last week. Although the Cowboys have no plans of moving on from the homegrown star, the end of this saga appears to be nowhere in sight. Photo by/Getty Images While on FS1's First Things First earlier this week, Nick Wright chimed in on the standoff between Parsons and the Cowboys. He went on a fiery rant about Jones, bashing him for trying to get things done without involving the necessary parties. "You can't say I came to a handshake agreement with a non-negotiating party," Wright said. "Micah is not the negotiating party for Micah Parsons. Jerry is the negotiating party for the Cowboys. It's not his business. It is outrageous to me for Jerry to spring on Micah a contract discussion. They get to wherever it seems okay, and then be like it's done we negotiated. He knows better than that." 'You can't say 'I came to a handshake agreement' with a non-negotiating party. That said, things with Parsons continue to move towards a point of no return. Earlier this week, it was reported that Parsons and the Cowboys' owner haven't spoken since he voiced his trade request. Since Micah Parsons issued his trade request, he has not spoken to Jerry Jones. — Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) August 5, 2025 Despite how things look at the moment, Jones doesn't seem to be worried about Parsons' future in Dallas. When recently talking about the defensive star, he had nothing but good things to say about him while hinting at him still being part of the Cowboys' future. "I think the world of Micah," Jones said after Tuesday's practice, via The Athletic. "He's one of the brightest people I've ever been around. He's very, very talented. Now, how we ultimately meld him in with our future is a challenge. I'm built for it and he's built for it." With the start of the regular season less than a month away, the Cowboys are running out of time to put this situation behind them before the 2025 campaign gets underway.
