As per reports, the domestic jewelry market is expected to experience a "mixed trend" in gold and silver purchases on the auspicious occasion of Akshaya Tritiya, in light of the significant increase in precious metal prices, stated the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) on Tuesday. Pankaj Arora, President of the All India Jewellers and Goldsmith Federation, has estimated a business turnover of ₹ 16,000 crore on Akshaya Tritiya, which falls on April 30.
This year's Akshaya Tritiya is anticipated to see gold sales reach approximately 12 tonnes valued at nearly ₹ 12,000 crore, along with around 400 tonnes of silver worth ₹ 4,000 crore, totaling an estimated business of ₹ 16,000 crore, according to All India Jewellers and Goldsmith Federation President Pankaj Arora, as per reports.
The term Akshaya translates to 'never diminishing.' Therefore, the advantages of performing any Japa, Yajna, Pitra-Tarpan, or Dan-Punya on this day are everlasting and stay with the individual indefinitely. Akshaya Tritiya occurs during the Shukla Paksha Tritiya in the month of Vaishakha. When Akshaya Tritiya coincides with a Rohini Nakshatra day and a Wednesday, it is deemed highly auspicious.
The day of Akshaya Tritiya is presided over by Lord Vishnu, the preserver in the Hindu Trinity. According to Hindu legends, the Treta Yuga commenced on Akshaya Tritiya.
Typically, Akshaya Tritiya and Parashurama Jayanti, which celebrates the birth of the 6th incarnation of Lord Vishnu, occur on the same day, although the starting time of the Tritiya Tithi may cause Parashurama Jayanti to fall one day.

Hundial collection at Palani temple crosses Rs3 crore
Dindigul: The monthly hundial collection at the Arulmigu Dhandayuthapani Swamy Temple in Palani, crossed 3.43 crore in cash, apart from other offerings, due to the inflow of a huge number of devotees during the Tamil month of Aadi. Muslim band owners told not to use names of Hindu deities, surnames
Bareilly: Moradabad police have called a meeting of city-based band owners and advised Muslim operators to stop using names of Hindu deities or Hindu names, and rename their businesses to reveal their identities. There are over 500 big and small bands operating in Moradabad city, and owners of at least 20 reputed bands are from the Muslim community. The development comes after a Moradabad-based advocate, Shavi Singh, filed a complaint on the CM portal on July 9, saying such practices were offensive to religious sentiments. SP (city) Kumar Ranvijay Singh said, "We received a direction regarding this after the complaint was filed on the CM portal, and summoned the band owners. However, we're not authorised to order renaming of these bands, and so made both parties sit together and arrive at a consensus. In the meeting, Muslim band owners have agreed to comply with the directions and rename their businesses. They, however, said they have pending bookings, and new bookings will be made under new names. Ganesh Chaturthi preparations in full swing, devotees flock to purchase idols
Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], August 21 (ANI): As Ganesh Chaturthi approaches, devotees are thronging to local markets to purchase idols of Lord Ganesha. The demand for idols of various sizes and designs is high, with sellers reporting a significant increase in sales compared to previous a devotee from Bowenpally, noted that he has been celebrating the festival for 40 years and said, 'Every year we buy a 7-foot Ganesh idol. However, this year the prices are exorbitant, with sellers quoting around ₹34,000 for a 7-foot idol and even ₹35,000 for a 1-foot idol. Last year, the prices were relatively lower." Arjun, another devotee from Ramnagar, said, 'We came here to book a Ganesh idol for Ganesh Chaturthi. We have been placing Ganesh idols in our home since my school time. We want to buy a 5-foot Ganesh idol, and after visiting nearby shops, we have finalised the idol we want to purchase. The idols here are beautiful, and we are excited to celebrate the festival."Ganesh idol sellers are also pleased with the purchase this year. Chandu Goud, a Ganesh Idol seller, mentioned the response he has received and said, 'We have been selling Ganesh idols for two years, and we have received an overwhelming response from devotees. Our sales have been increasing every year. We have a wide variety of Ganesh idols in our shop, with different rates for different idols."Chandu also mentioned the sales he had made to other countries and added, 'We have sent Ganesh idols to eight countries. The price of the idol depends on its size and intricacy. We source our idols from Pune and Mumbai, and we have around 250 varieties in our shop." Venkatesh, another Ganesh Idol seller, highlighted the varied forms of idols he sells and said, 'We have around 250 types of Ganesh idols in our shop, sourced from Mumbai, Pune, and Solapur. We have been selling these idols for two years, and we have idols ranging from 1 foot to 13 feet in height. We have various models, including Shivaji and other varieties."He further added, 'The prices of the idols start from ₹1,500 and go up to ₹1 lakh. Many of our customers from last year have returned to purchase idols again, including those from Nizamabad, Siddipet, and Karimnagar."The Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations will begin on Wednesday, August 27.
