The looming $10 million date to watch as Bill Belichick-Jordon Hudson drama engulfs UNC

New York Post10-05-2025

Bill Belichick and North Carolina have an easy way out of their troubled relationship.
And the date to keep an eye on is coming soon.
On June 1, the legendary football coach's buyout clause will drop from $10 million to $1 million, giving him an out from the top job in Chapel Hill and a much more palatable payment to the university should he bail on the Tar Heels.
The buyout was originally seen as a potential path for Belichick, who is on a five-year, $50 million contract with UNC, to return to the NFL after striking out during the last two hiring cycles.

But with all the drama surrounding Belichick and his 24-year-old girlfriend Jordon Hudson, the 73-year-old coach may decide the job is more trouble than it's worth.
The couple has been in the middle of a media firestorm since a viral video showed Hudson on the field with Belichick at a UNC practice last month.

Shortly after she was spotted on the field during a spring practice, Belichick and Hudson came further under the microscope after his disastrous 'CBS Sunday Morning' interview, in which she interrupted it multiple times and stopped the coach from answering a question about how the couple met.
Earlier this month, Page Six reported that Hudson allegedly 'forced' her way into a Dunkin' Donuts commercial with Belichick, which aired during Super Bowl 2025.

Then this week, Pablo Torre reported that Hudson bombarded an Underdog Fantasy commercial set, making the crew film a version that featured her in a bikini by the pool with Belichick.
Torre alleged that Hudson had been banned from Tar Heels practices, although UNC's athletics department released a statement disputing the claim.
'While Jordon Hudson is not an employee at the University or Carolina Athletics, she is welcome to the Carolina Football facilities,' the school said. 'Jordon will continue to manage all activities related to Coach Belichick's personal brand outside of his responsibilities for Carolina Football and the University.'
He also said Belichick's family is said to be 'extraordinarily concerned' in matters regarding Hudson and 'digging into' her as the feel she could be detrimental to his legacy.
In late April, TMZ reported that UNC officials were 'concerned' about Hudson's influence and there was a 'growing sense this could become a problem.'
Former Patriot Ted Johnson said North Carolina should consider firing Belichick amid the saga.

WWE's 'The Miz' wants Browns to follow the Chiefs' rookie plan for Patrick Mahomes

WWE's 'The Miz' wants Browns to follow the Chiefs' rookie plan for Patrick Mahomes This week, Chiefs Wire's Ed Easton Jr. spoke to Mike 'The Miz' Mizanin about his participation in this year's American Century Championship, which will take place July 9-13 at Edgewood Tahoe, and his favorite team, the Cleveland Browns, whom he hopes will take a tip from the Kansas City Chiefs. "When I first saw what we (Cleveland Browns) did with the second pick, I wanted Travis Hunter; I think he's a generational talent. He's going to play offense-defense. The best football player in the draft is what you're hearing. And then when I saw what we got for that second pick, I was like, wow, we just got a haul. So right then and there. I said, You know what? These guys know exactly what they're doing," said Miz, "Now, do we have a huge quarterback room? Yes. But do we need a huge quarterback room? Yes, because we can never find a good quarterback who is our franchise player. So I think now is when we're going to have a little competition, like to be, you know, to go up against each other. And I'm excited to see what Shedeur (Sanders), Dillon Gabriel, Kenny Pickett, and Joe Flacco can do in that quarterback room. Hopefully, the young kids can learn from Flacco because he is a Super Bowl-winning quarterback, and I'm hoping that, you know, one of their college careers translates to the NFL." Miz mentioned Shedeur Sanders as his choice for the future franchise quarterback role. However, he wants Kansas City to utilize the process during Patrick Mahomes' rookie season. "I can sit here and say any name, and you never know until you get to the first game in the NFL and all the defensive packages are put into place, and you see how well they're able to look at the field and see the field and see where they need to go. So that's what I'm looking forward to. I look forward to seeing them get on the field and do something during a real NFL game. I'm not talking preseason, either. We can talk about the draft, rookie OTAs, regular OTAs, and the preseason. It all comes to fruition when the NFL season comes, and that's what I'm looking forward to," said Miz, "Hopefully, they'll be able to sit back and watch for a little while before they get in. I always think of what they did with Patrick Mahomes; Kansas City was the perfect situation for him. He got to sit a year learning from Alex Smith, and now he's one of the best quarterbacks ever to do it. So, hopefully, we'll be able to do the same thing." The annual tournament awards $750,000 in prize money, much of which the celebrity players donate to local and national charities. Over the years, nearly $8 million has been donated to non-profit causes. Network television exposure on NBC, along with a first-place prize of $150,000, makes the celebrity tournament one of the most prestigious in the golf world.

Eagles Remain Aligned on Post-Super Bowl Mindset

Eagles Remain Aligned on Post-Super Bowl Mindset originally appeared on Athlon Sports. There is a common theme from many of the Philadelphia Eagles' biggest stars this offseason. No one seems to care that they just won the Super Bowl. Advertisement Whether it was A.J. Brown's comments right before the parade, or Jalen Hurts ignoring comments made from the previous season, the Eagles are a team that seems hellbent on doing everything they can to reach the big game for a second straight year. And now some of their younger defensive players are getting in on that thought process. Nolan Smith, one of Philadelphia's first-round picks from the 2022 draft, is coming off a career year with the team where he recorded 6.5 sacks in the regular season and four in the playoffs. While a 24-year-old player could be excused for being focused on the numbers or joys of winning a Super Bowl, Smith couldn't be more different. Advertisement The Georgia edge rusher spoke at voluntary workouts this week with a clear mindset. The same one that the rest of the team has had for months. "Everyone is excited for the rings and all of that; I've been turning the page, especially after the parade,' said Smith. 'I got back to doing what I was doing because I know I had to rehab and gotta be stronger. I said last year, 'I gotta be bulletproof,' and that's what I'm going through every year. Build my armor going into this year.' It is clear that the entire Eagles roster is aligned on their post-victory mindset coming off one of the biggest blowouts in Super Bowl history. Time will tell if it means another chance at a championship, but it is clear the organization is ready to try and repeat.
