Malik Nabers is 'ready to go' for Giants training camp: Daboll
Wide receiver Malik Nabers has been cleared to practice at training camp and is expected to be a full participant, according to head coach Brian Daboll.
Nabers had missed all of the Giants' spring practices at OTAs and mandatory minicamp while rehabbing a lingering toe injury. The toe issue first arose in college, according to Daboll, but Nabers re-aggravated it last season. The Giants have been particularly cautious with their 2024 first-round pick since then.
Daboll has said multiple times this offseason – throughout OTAs and minicamp – that there wasn't any concern that Nabers would miss training camp practices, let alone the start of the season. With Wednesday's announcement making it official, Giants fans can seemingly let out a sigh of relief.
Nabers was one of the lone bright spots for the 3-14 Giants as a rookie last year. His 109 catches for 1,204 yards and seven touchdowns all led the team and were impressive feats amid a chaotic situation at quarterback – Big Blue sent out four different starters under center – that unfolded throughout the season.
The 109 catches Nabers tallied were more than any other wide receiver in 2024, and his yardage total was the second-most of all rookie pass-catchers (tight ends included).
Not only that, but Nabers' 1,204 yards made him the first Giants player to surpass 800 receiving yards in a season since Odell Beckham Jr. in 2018.
Now that he's officially been declared healthy and a full go for training camp, Nabers will be the clear No. 1 target for starting quarterback Russell Wilson in New York this year.

What is worse, he started training camp on PUP, so despite having had surgery nearly a year ago, he is not cleared to play. Is he going to go the way of Cam Thomas and Myjai Sanders, one-time promising pass rushers who fizzle out or get traded? He certainly could be used, but if there is any hope that he can be what most of us thought he could a year ago, he has to prove himself once he is cleared to practice. Allen has firmly established himself as the face of the Bills organization and one of the NFL's brightest stars. He's second to Patrick Mahomes in passing yards and touchdowns since the start of 2020. The former No. 7 pick beat out Lamar Jackson in a tight vote to win his first MVP award last season. Allen posted a league-best 77.3 QBR with 3,731 passing yards and 531 rushing yards, accounting for 40 total touchdowns. The Bills went 25 years without winning the AFC East before Allen led them to five consecutive division crowns. They've notched double-digit victories in each of the last six seasons, but Allen is still pursuing his first Super Bowl appearance. And they, I mean, it's a pretty easy argument to make as well. It's easy to make, but it's also not quite the same defense, you know, they've lost some guys on the defensive line. They've lost Milton Williams, who signed that massive deal with New England. Josh Sweat is in Arizona, but you look at their defense, right? And it's just littered with first and second round picks all over the place, right? The defensive line still is, you know, all the Georgia guys, they've really started to develop. Jordan Davis, I think we'll see what happens this year. He's gotten into incredible shape. Contract year, Jordan Davis could be special. We'll see. Jaylen Carter, we know about that. But Nolan Smith, like when I was skimming through some of my stuff, he has really improved from where he was when he first got into the NFL. Like he was all over the place in the Super Bowl. You get to bring back Zach Vaughan. Like we're talking about a 7-2 Scott Bonner, who was an absolute assassin last year. And sometimes you get these years from linebackers where like, oh, they put up a lot of numbers, but it's pretty manufactured. No, he actually played really, really good football last year. And then we got Quinnen Mitchell on the outside, who's an absolute stud. Cooper DeJean, who's an absolute stud. But they have so many guys on this defense still. I still think they're going to be the best defense in the league because a lot of those guys are so young. Like a lot of these guys are still in their rookie deals or first or second year players. These guys are going to get better. So I'm really excited to see what the next step of all those guys they've drafted in the last two years looks like in year three, because there's hard proof of concept that these are potentially Pro Bowl talented NFL players and they're so young.
