In a post on X, Rahul Gandhi wrote, "Forcing two Dalit youths in Odisha to crawl on their knees, eat grass, and drink dirty water is not just inhumane but a barbarity rooted in
Manuwadi ideology
. This incident is a mirror for those who claim that caste is no longer an issue. Every incident that tramples the dignity of Dalits is an attack on Baba Saheb's Constitution, a conspiracy against equality, justice, and humanity."

Gandhi demanded that the culprits be immediately arrested and given strict punishment.
"Such incidents are becoming common in BJP-ruled states because their politics is built on hatred and hierarchy. Atrocities against SCs, STs, and women have alarmingly increased, especially in Odisha. The culprits must be immediately arrested and given strict punishment. The country will run by the Constitution, not by Manusmriti," the post reads.
Earlier on June 21, Congress MP and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi accused the Election Commission of "match fixing" the elections, claiming that the new instructions to delete CCTV footage of the election after 45 days of polls is just a way to "delete evidence."
The Leader of Opposition raised concerns about the integrity of the electoral process, citing the destruction of evidence as a potential indicator of election rigging. He warned that a fixed election would be "poison for democracy," highlighting the need for a free and fair electoral process.
The Congress leader alleged that the CCTV footage is being hidden by changing the law, raising suspicions about the intentions behind this move.

Pappu Yadav likens current political climate to ‘undeclared Emergency'

New Delhi: On the 50th anniversary of the Emergency -- widely regarded as one of the darkest chapters in Indian democracy -- Purnea MP Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav strongly criticised the current political climate, likening it to an "undeclared Emergency." Speaking to IANS on Tuesday, Yadav took aim at the ruling BJP, asserting that the present situation mirrors the authoritarianism of the past, albeit without formal declaration. Attacking the ruling dispensation, he said that institutions like the "Supreme Court, ED, CBI, and Election Commission are all working at the BJP's behest. No one can speak now." Training his guns at the BJP on the issue of black money, he said that the BJP does not want to talk about real issues. "Just look at the BJP on its record of employment generation, have they delivered their promise on giving two crore jobs?" he asked. "What is the update on the handling of Agniveers? Our currency is going down compared to the dollar. Have you brought back the black money?" he told IANS. On speculation over Arvind Kejriwal's entry into the Rajya Sabha, Yadav accused him of prioritising personal ambition over governance. He further alleged that Kejriwal is desperately eyeing a Rajya Sabha seat and could even replace Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to fulfil his political goals. "He is obsessed with money and power. Corruption runs in his veins," Yadav said, calling Kejriwal the 'B team' of the BJP. Yadav claimed Kejriwal imposed elections in Punjab for selfish reasons and said the AAP leader now lives in a 'delusional world.' 'He made Delhiites suffer, failed to deliver on Lokpal, and now dreams of entering Rajya Sabha through the backdoor,' Yadav alleged. On the BJP's continuous attack on Congress, Yadav called Union Home Minister Amit Shah the 'Sankat Mochak' of the BJP but questioned his relentless attacks on the Congress. 'Every party is free to contest on their terms. But if you had taken the name of God as many times as you've taken the name of Congress, Nehru, or Indira, maybe God would have blessed you,' he said. Yadav reminded Home Minister Amit Shah of Indira Gandhi's contributions to the nation, calling her one of the most dynamic leaders the world has seen. "Atal Bihari Vajpayee had called her 'Durga.' Don't forget 1971 and her leadership. Yes, Emergency was dark, and people punished her -- but then people brought her back, too. Let the people decide,' he added. On the Iran-Israel conflict, Yadav accused the US of forcing a ceasefire. 'Iran is our historical ally, and we must introspect. Trump's actions have surpassed Hitler,' he said, warning that war is being used as a business model by global arms dealers.

Fadnavis pointed out that voter turnout increased by over 8% between the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in more than 25 constituencies, and Congress won the majority of seats. He also cited examples of seats of West Nagpur, North Nagpur, Wadgaon Sheri in Pune district, Malad West and Mumbra, where Congress and its allies emerged victorious. — Devendra Fadnavis (@Dev_Fadnavis) June 24, 2025 'Vote Theft in 2024 Maharashtra Polls': Rahul Gandhi Flagging alleged irregularities in the Maharashtra assembly polls, Rahul Gandhi has claimed that there weren't isolated glitches but 'vote theft" and demanded the immediate release of machine-readable digital voter rolls as well as CCTV footage. The Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha shared on X a media report which claimed that in just six months between the 2024 Lok Sabha elections and the Maharashtra assembly polls, Nagpur South West — the seat held by BJP leader and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis — added 29,219 new voters. 'Media uncovered thousands of voters with no verified address. And the EC? Silent — or complicit. These aren't isolated glitches. This is vote theft. The cover-up is the confession," he said. 'That's why we demand the immediate release of machine-readable digital voter rolls and CCTV footage," Gandhi added. In a post on X, the Chief Electoral Office in Maharashtra said as informed by the Election Commission of India already, electoral rolls are shared with all recognised political parties. 'During 2nd Special Summary Revision-2024, which was taken up before the General Elections to Maharashtra Assembly-2024, the copies of draft and final electoral rolls of all 288 ACs were provided to representatives of all recognised political parties including INC (Dates of handing over the rolls to INC can be seen in the attachment)," the office said. 'Between draft and final publication of rolls, 19,27,508 claims & objections were received for consideration. As per law, appeal can be filed against wrongful additions or deletions in the Electoral Rolls. Only 89 Appeals were received," it said. Gandhi's remarks also came on a day it emerged that the Election Commission has formally written to him on his allegations of rigging in the 2024 Maharashtra polls, saying all elections are held by the poll authority strictly as per laws passed by Parliament and rules, and the entire exercise involves thousands of personnel, including booth-level agents appointed by political parties. In a letter emailed to him on June 12 in response to his article written in a leading daily, the EC has said the entire election process is conducted in a decentralised manner at the assembly constituency level, which involved more than 1,00,186 Booth Level Officers (BLOs), 288 Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), 139 General Observers, 41 Police Observers, 71 Expenditure Observers and 288 Returning Officers (ROs) appointed by the Commission. 'We presume that any issue regarding conduct of elections would have already been raised through election petitions filed in the competent court of law (high court) by the INC candidates," it told the LoP in Lok Sabha. 'However, if you still have any issues, you are welcome to write to us and the Commission is also willing to meet you in person at a mutually convenient date and time to discuss all issues," the poll authority said. Palestinian health authority says the death toll from Israel-Hamas war has exceeded 56,000 in Gaza

AP image DEIR AL-BALAH: Israeli forces and drones opened fire toward hundreds of people waiting for aid trucks in central Gaza early Tuesday, killing at least 25 people, Palestinian witnesses and hospitals said. Responding to an Associated Press inquiry, the military said it was reviewing reports of casualties from Israeli fire after a group of people approached troops in an area adjunct to the east-west Netzarim corridor, which bisects Gaza. The Awda hospital in the urban Nuseirat refugee camp, which received the victims, said the Palestinians were waiting for the trucks on the Salah al-Din Road south of Wadi Gaza. Witnesses told The Associated Press that Israeli forces opened fire as people were advancing eastward to be close to the approaching trucks. "It was a massacre," said Ahmed Halawa. He said tanks and drones fired at people, "even as we were fleeing. Many people were either martyred or wounded." Hossam Abu Shahada, another eyewitness, said drones were flying over the area, watching the crowds first, then there was gunfire from tanks and drones as people were moving eastward. He described a "chaotic and bloody" scene as people were attempting to escape. He said he saw at least three people lying on the ground motionless and many others wounded as he fled the site. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Eat 1 Teaspoon Every Night, See What Happens A Week Later [Video] getfittoday Undo The Awda hospital said another 146 Palestinians were wounded. Among them were 62 in critical condition, who were transferred to other hospitals in central Gaza, it said. In the central town of Deir al-Balah, the Al-Aqsa Martyrs hospital said it received the bodies of six people who were killed in the same incident. Palestinian witnesses and health officials say Israeli forces have repeatedly opened fire on crowds seeking desperately needed food, killing hundreds of people in recent weeks. The military says it has fired warning shots at people it said approached its forces in a suspicious manner. The deaths were the latest in Israel-Hamas war in Gaza which killed about 56,000 Palestinians, according to the strip's health ministry. The ministry doesn't distinguish between civilians and combatants but say more than a half of the dead were women and children. Israel launched its campaign in Gaza after Hamas' October 7, 2023, attack on southern Israel, in which militants killed around 1,200 people, mostly civilians, and took another 251 hostages. Most of the hostages were released by ceasefire agreements.
