Pro Boxer Georgia O'Connor Dies at 25 Just 2 Weeks After Marrying ‘The Love of My Life'
Georgia O'Connor died at 25, months after revealing she was diagnosed with cancer
Just weeks before her death, she married her longtime boyfriend Adriano Cardinali
The professional boxer blamed doctors for ignoring her, and failing to run tests that could have detected her cancer soonerGeorgia O'Connor made one last wish come true before her death.
The death of the 25-year-old British professional boxer was announced on Thursday, May 22, by her promoter, Boxxer, in a statement obtained by The Guardian. O'Connor revealed in January that she had been diagnosed with cancer. In February, she said she suffered a miscarriage.
Just two weeks before her death, O'Connor tied the knot with her longtime boyfriend Adriano Cardinali.
'09.05.2025. The day I married the love of my life. 🤍,' O'Connor wrote alongside an image of her husband's hand over her own.
Her photo showed the couple both wearing their wedding rings as she held a bouquet of white roses and baby's breath. It was the last post she shared, uploaded on May 12.
Before her wedding announcement, O'Connor last shared an Instagram photo of herself with Cardinali for his birthday in February, where she referred to him as 'my Italian prince.'
'I never in my life thought I would find someone like you. Someone with such a pure heart and soul, someone who makes me feel loved every day, someone who would do absolutely anything for me… someone as weird as me,' she wrote.
Her words captioned a single photo of the couple sitting in a restaurant booth together, both smiling at the camera as they posed with drinks in front of them.
'You are not just my boyfriend but my truest and closest friend,' O'Connor continued.
She also mentioned that the longtime loves 'have been through so much together, things that no couple should go through but we always get through because nothing can ever break us.'
'I couldn't imagine life without you and I adore you from the deepest parts of my heart,' she wrote, later concluding, 'you are the best thing that ever happened to me and being your girlfriend is the greatest title I could ever wish to have.'
When O'Connor revealed her cancer diagnosis in January, she made a post calling out 'the absolute incompetent RATS that have allowed this to happen.'
'For 17 weeks since the start of October, I've been in constant pain,' she wrote on Jan. 31.
Her post was a single image of her sitting in a hospital bed, hooked to multiple machines as she smiled and gave a 'thumbs up' sign.
The pro athlete said she knew 'something was seriously wrong' and felt that she had cancer because 'I have colitis and PSC [primary sclerosing cholangitis — a chronic liver disease], two diseases that dramatically increase the chances of getting it.'
'I KNOW how high my risk is and they do too. They always did. But not one doctor f------ listened to me. Not one doctor took me seriously,' O'Connor wrote.

She said she 'begged' doctors to run tests, but they refused. 'One even told me that it's 'all in my head.' And now? Now the cancer has spread,' O'Connor wrote.
O'Connor was undefeated in her boxing matches since turning pro in 2021, and won several high-ranking titles, including a bronze medal at the 2018 Youth World Championships as an amateur fighter.
'Georgia was loved, respected and admired,' Boxxer said in their statement after her death.

World's Biggest TikTok Star Detained by US Immigration
World's Biggest TikTok Star Detained by US Immigration originally appeared on Parade. Italian-Senegalese influencer Khaby Lame was detained at Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas on Friday. Lame, whose full name is Seringe Khabane Lame, was detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) after overstaying his visa. An ICE spokesperson confirmed to USA Today on Sunday that Lame, who is an Italian citizen, was granted voluntary departure and has left the U.S. The ICE statement explained, "Lame entered the United States April 30 and overstayed the terms of his visa. Lame was granted voluntary departure June 6 and has since departed the US." Initially, there was confusion about Lame's detention because he was not listed in the ICE arrest database after conservative activist and Barron Trump's best friend, Bo Louden, claimed to be behind Lame's arrest. The mega viral TikTok star, who boasts the highest following on the social media platform, attended the 2025 Met Gala on Monday, May 5, during his time in the U.S. This year's theme was "Superfine: Tailoring Black Style" and explored Black dandyism's impact on fashion. Lame nailed the theme in a grey pinstripe three-piece suit by BOSS, black and white spectator wingtips, and a dramatic wide-brimmed hat that pulled the whole outfit together. Since being allowed to leave the country, Lame has not addressed the ICE detainment but has posted new content to TikTok, where he has more than 162 million followers, and to his Instagram Stories. Lame's detainment comes on the heels of President Donald Trump's immigration crackdown, which has resulted in violent and chaotic protests across the country, with the president deploying the National Guard to California to quell unrest. 🎬SIGN UP for Parade's Daily newsletter to get the latest pop culture news & celebrity interviews delivered right to your inbox🎬 World's Biggest TikTok Star Detained by US Immigration first appeared on Parade on Jun 9, 2025 This story was originally reported by Parade on Jun 9, 2025, where it first appeared.

Most-followed TikTok star Khaby Lame detained by ICE, leaves US voluntarily
TikTok megastar Khaby Lame has left the United States after being detained by federal immigration. 'U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement detained Seringe Khabane Lame, 25, a citizen of Italy, June 6, at the Harry Reid International Airport, Las Vegas, Nevada for immigration violations,' an ICE representative told People. Lame, who holds the record as the most followed on TikTok with over 160 million followers on the platform, was asked to leave the U.S. because he 'overstayed the terms of his visa.' The 25-year-old content creator was stopped by ICE at the Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas and granted voluntary departure once he was detained. The social media star was born in Senegal and was moved to Italy when he was a baby. He was granted Italian citizenship in August 2022. Lame rose to fame when he started sharing silent comedic videos on TikTok during the pandemic after he was laid off from his job. 'Before TikTok, I was working in a factory. I had a lot of different jobs,' he told People after being named one of their Creators of the Year. 'I was helping support my family — three little brothers, one older brother and my parents. Then my world changed completely. It's a whole different life now.' In May of 2025, Lame was seen at the Met Gala celebrating the theme of Black Dandyism in a grey and cream suit. The detainment comes amid Trump's immigration crackdown. ICE has launched raids all over the country, enforcing the president's mass deportation campaign promise in workplaces, schools, airports and college campuses. As for Lame, he has been active on social media since the detainment and hasn't spoken publicly about what happened. ____________

Woman Finds 16-Year-Old Pomeranian Keeps Escaping—So She Sets Up Hidden Cam
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. A senior dog who had managed to escape through a gate several times left her owners puzzled until a secret camera revealed her sneaky way to freedom. Owner Jordan Quick of Washington purchased a play yard dog gate off Facebook Marketplace to use as a divider between the living room and workspace near the kitchen. It was meant to keep the dogs out of the area. However, it didn't seem to work for the family's senior canine, Remi. For about two days, Quick noticed the family's nearly 16-year-old Pomeranian somehow escaping the gate and ending up in the kitchen, which the owners block off while their toddler eats because of all the dropped food. "After a few times of my husband and I asking each other who put Remi on the other side of the gate, I decided to set up my camera to figure out exactly how she's getting through," Quick told Newsweek. As it turns out, there had been a small opening in the gate due to a missing pole. This left the perfect amount of room for Remi to squeeze her way through and out to freedom on the other side. "Only one of our other two dogs has used the small opening to get in the kitchen when he was motivated enough, but typically, they both know to wait on the other side," Quick said. As for the senior canine, she still gets away with escaping. Quick said they have yet to fix the gap, allowing Remi to come and go as she pleases. What Do the Comments Say? "We thought it was pretty funny, and I thought others would enjoy seeing her sneak right through, so that's where the video came from," she said, which proved true. The June 1 Instagram video, posted under Quick's account, @jordanwithallthedogs, brought in over 229,000 views and 19,000 likes. "That wasn't even a slight hassle," a viewer commented. "All fluff, no stuffin," a second commenter said, while another wrote: "All that fluff was deceiving." A fourth Instagram user commented: "I kept watching, waiting for the dog to jump I almost didn't see the other dog walk through the fence."
