Tina Dabi is a well-known IAS officer who rose to prominence after achieving an All India Rank (AIR) 1 in the UPSC Civil Services Examination in 2015. It is worth noting that her sister, Ria Dabi, has also made a name for herself in India's civil services, carving out her own distinct identity.
Not just Tina, but her sister IAS Ria Dabi, is also a UPSC officer from the 2020 batch. She obtained an impressive All India Rank(AIR) of 16. Meanwhile, her husband is also in the Civil Services; his name is Manish Kumar. Recently, he has been promoted and appointed as the Superintendent of Police(SP) of Dungarpur district.
Riya was reportedly born in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. She completed her schooling from Convent of Jesus and Mary in New Delhi. Later, she graduated from Lady Shri Ram College for Women, University of Delhi, with a degree in Political Science. At the age of 23, IAS Ria Dabi cleared the UPSC in her first attempt. Her UPSC rank was All India Rank 15.
Ria Dabi secured rank 15 in the UPSC Civil Services Examination 2020. This is significant as her elder sister Tina Dabi was the top ranker in the UPSC exam in 2015. In 2020, Ria took inspiration from her sister's success and performed well in the challenging examination. Her dream of becoming an IAS officer was fulfilled.
Ria Dabi married IPS officer Manish Kumar in 2023. Both were in the 2021 batch They first met during the training at LBSNAA, Mussoorie. This was the place where their friendship gradually blossomed into love. The wedding was held in a very private manner, with only family members and close friends in attendance. Ria posted some photographs and glimpses of the ceremony on social media.
This year the central government published a list of IAS officers after Tina and Ria Dabi were promoted. People started comparing the careers of the two sisters on social media after this news broke. It is being stated that while Tina took ten years to reach a certain milestone, her younger sister Ria reached that milestone in four years.
In a major bureaucratic reshuffle, the Bhajanlal Government has transferred 108 IAS officers in September 2024. Of the total 108 officers, 98 have been transferred while 10 IAS officers, who were earlier put on awaited posting orders, have also been given postings in the Industries Department.
According to IANS report, Tina Dabi has been posted as Barmer District Collector. While her husband IAS officer Pradeep Gawande has been posted as Jalore Collector.
According to a report in the Navbharat Times–Indiatimes, Ria Dabi's promotion has been much faster than her sister Tina's promotion. While Tina had to wait nearly 9–10 years for a promotion, Ria joined the IAS in 2021 and received her promotion in 2024. The report further added that Ria has been promoted from the junior administrative scale to the senior administrative scale.
