Amid swirling rumors of Samson's potential move from Rajasthan Royals (RR) to Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Ashwin cheekily offered to "trade himself" if Samson would "travel back to Chennai," teasing the cricketing community and stoking hopes among the passionate CSK fanbase. Samson's hearty laughter in response only added fuel to the fire, leaving the IPL fraternity buzzing.
The Rumor Mill: Sanju Samson's Exit from Rajasthan Royals
Reports surfaced recently indicating a serious internal rift between Sanju Samson and the Rajasthan Royals management, prompting speculation about his desire to exit the franchise. Cricbuzz revealed that Samson has expressed a wish to part ways with RR, and CSK, alongside Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), are reportedly the front-runners vying to secure his services ahead of the 2026 season.
While RR appears open to trading Samson, they are reportedly demanding two players from CSK in exchange—a significant bargaining chip in this blockbuster potential transfer. Alternatively, Samson could be released ahead of the mega auction, which would throw his future open to all franchises, diluting CSK's direct advantage.
Ashwin's Potential Exit from Chennai Super Kings Adds Another Twist
Adding complexity to the trade saga is Ravichandran Ashwin's rumored departure from CSK. The veteran off-spinner, bought for a hefty ₹9.75 crore, is reportedly set to be released ahead of IPL 2026. With CSK's captain Ruturaj Gaikwad and MS Dhoni in closed-door discussions regarding the franchise's future roster, it's clear the Men in Yellow are planning significant changes.
Interestingly, Ashwin has previously played for Rajasthan Royals, fueling speculation that he could be part of a player swap deal involving Sanju Samson. Such a move would represent a high-profile exchange of talent between two of the IPL's biggest franchises, with far-reaching implications for team dynamics and balance.
What Does This Mean for CSK, RR, and IPL Fans?
CSK fans are already ecstatic at the prospect of adding a dynamic batsman like Sanju Samson to their lineup. Samson's aggressive stroke play, combined with his captaincy experience, would bolster CSK's middle order and add fresh energy to the five-time IPL champions.
For Rajasthan Royals, letting go of Samson would be a significant blow but gaining a seasoned campaigner like Ashwin could shore up their spin attack and add depth to their bowling arsenal. Meanwhile, the IPL audience watches eagerly, as this rumored trade could reshape team strategies heading into the 2026 season.
Expert Take: Why This Trade Could Be a Game-Changer
Sanju Samson's cricketing acumen and flair make him one of the most exciting talents in Indian cricket today. His departure from Rajasthan Royals would signal a major shakeup in team culture and leadership. On the other hand, Ashwin's experience and tactical nous have been instrumental for CSK in the past, and his potential move to RR could revive his career in a familiar environment.
This high-profile trade would also reflect the evolving landscape of the IPL, where strategic player swaps and blockbuster deals are becoming increasingly common. Such moves not only influence team performance but also intensify fan engagement and media buzz, elevating the tournament's stature.

Rajasthan Royals' Post On Sanju Samson Viral Amid Chennai Super Kings, Kolkata Knight Riders Trade Rumours

Rajasthan Royals (RR) Sanju Samson has been in the news of late, having reportedly expressed his desire to leave the franchise ahead of the next Indian Premier League (IPL) auction. Cricbuzz recently reported that the differences between the two parties is so severed that the cricketer's family is openly saying that Samson does not want to continue with RR. "Serious differences have cropped up between Sanju Samson and the Royals management - so much so that the designated captain has formally requested to be traded or released into the auction," the report stated. "Members of Samson's family openly say that he no longer wishes to continue with the Royals. Some current IPL and international players close to him also indicate that his relationship with the franchise has not exactly been the way it used to be." Despite the rumours, Samson has remained tight-lipped over his future. During a recent interaction with former India cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin, Samson laughed off the rumours and credited RR for playing a major role in shaping his career. Recently, RR took to social media and shared a post quoting Samson remark. "RR means the world to me," Samson had said on Ashwin's YouTube channel a few days back. — Rajasthan Royals (@rajasthanroyals) August 10, 2025 Reports have claimed that Samson has requested for a direct trade or a release ahead of the next IPL auction. Franchises like Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have been linked to Samson in recent weeks. Samson, who was one of the five players retained by RR ahead of the mega auction, missed the majority of IPL 2025 due to an injury. RR crashed to a ninth-place finish in IPL 2025, which saw Riyan Parag captain the team on multiple occasions in Samson's absence. If Samson does leave RR, it would bring an end to their 11-year association.

Ashwin sheds light on IPL think-tank's approach for mini auction; risky formula for franchises: 'Costly picks will...'

"Former India all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin has made a bold claim that the foreign players will be in high demand during the IPL 2026 mini-auction. With the marquee Indian stars expected to be retained, the overseas players are once again expected to take advantage of the mini-auction. However, there are speculations that a few trade deals might also happen, as Sanju Samson is heavily linked to a move to the Chennai Super Kings. While Ashwin might also play for another franchise next season, he suggested that he had no communication with CSK regarding that. Ravichandran Ashwin shared how the IPL franchises approach the mini-auction.(AFP) However, the veteran cricketer shared his insights on the IPL think-tank's approach to preparing for a mini-auction, stressing why letting go of an Indian player can be a risky move. "This will be a mini auction where you'll find it tough to get Indian players. Maybe only new players will come. The costly picks will be overseas players. So, whether a franchise wants to keep or release a big Indian player, it's a very risky formula. So many Australian players will come in the auction," Ashwin said on his YouTube channel. "LSG could leave someone like Mayank Yadav" The 38-year-old asserted that the likes of Cameron Green and Mitchell Owen are expected to trigger bidding wars in the mini-auction, with the all-rounder likely to be among the most sought-after names. 'Tim David is obviously with the RCB. The way he is playing, he's batting brilliantly. And then you've got Mitchell Owen, he's in the Punjab Kings, but that was a replacement player only for 2-3 games. And then you've got someone like a Cameron Green coming into the auction, so they are available and they'll go at a big price because they are foreign all-rounders,' he added. Meanwhile, he also suggested that a few teams might release some flop stars from last season to enter the auction with a bigger purse. He gave the example of Mayank Yadav, who is expected to be released by LSG. "So, you might want to release your purse. And there's a possibility that someone like LSG could leave someone like Mayank Yadav. I think this mini-auction will be a game of INR 25-30 crore for all teams," he concluded.

Ranbir Kapoor's Animal co-star confesses he ‘didn't understand' the film until the end; said he rejected it after first meeting with Sandeep Reddy Vanga

Ranbir Kapoor is regarded as one of the finest actors of his generation, and with his last release, Animal, he delivered both the biggest hit and the most polarising film of his career. His co-star Saurabh Sachdeva, last seen in Dhadak 2, recently spoke about Ranbir's attitude on set. When asked if the star ever threw 'tantrums,' Saurabh said that if Ranbir had been throwing tantrums, he wouldn't have been able to deliver his craft on screen. For Saurabh, Animal was also a massive project, but he candidly admitted that he didn't fully understand what director Sandeep Reddy Vanga was trying to achieve, or the world he was trying to create, until the very end. In a chat with the YouTube channel Filmygyan, Saurabh was asked if star kid Ranbir 'threw any tantrums' on set and the actor was quick to answer that no one actually does that. 'Nobody does that. This is all nonsense. Everyone is human and if they are a good actor, professional, and know how to connect with a co-actor… they know that is how a scene comes alive. If they start throwing tantrums, then how will the scene come to life? How can he be such a beautiful, powerful, versatile actor, if he does not connect with me or with any other co-actor? It's not possible,' he shared. Talking more about Ranbir, Saurabh shared that he was 'always connected, very humble and respectful with his co-actors.' Saurabh Sachdeva had a brief but impactful appearance in Animal and he said that when he was first offered the part, he was very skeptical about taking it up. 'I was initially very skeptical about doing the film. When I met Sandeep for the first time, I didn't understand what was happening in the film and I was wondering that since it's such a huge cast, I might get lost in it,' he said. 'But I was thinking that I still don't understand the story of the film,' he shared. He met Sandeep thrice and still didn't have a clue about the world that the director was trying to create here. 'I told him that I do not understand the world of this film. He then showed me the scene of the masked men and I got even more confused. Then he showed me that scene between Triptii Dimri and Ranbir in the lawn. Then the writer of the film, he started narrating a few more scenes and I said, 'Okay, I will do it',' he said. But, for all of his shooting schedule, Saurabh felt 'confused.' 'Honestly, throughout the film, I was really confused, till the end. And I wasn't sure if what I was doing was right or not,' he said. Saurabh Sachdeva was also asked about an update on Animal Park and he said, 'I have no clue. I also want to know when it's coming out. The shoot hasn't even started. Sandeep is making Spirit, and then he will start this.' He added, 'They are still writing the story. It's a work in progress.'
