Retro 90s raves inspire new Pretty Green x Kappa collection launch

Fashion Network12 hours ago
British menswear brand Pretty Green and Italian sportswear brand Kappa have launched their first collaboration with a limited-edition capsule collection.
Inspired by the 'style and spirit of the 1990s, from bold silhouettes to the rebellious attitude that defined the era', the two brands celebrated a shared history that 'brings together the UK's musical heritage and Italian sportswear legacy'.
The seven-piece capsule features a hooded jacket, two retro-inspired football tops, a tracksuit (top and bottoms), bucket hat and even a co-branded football.
All styles feature dual branding, pairing Kappa's Omini logo, tape arm detailing with Pretty Green's psychedelic icon, accompanied by three stars 'taking direct inspiration' from the 97-99 Manchester City football kits.
Standouts include the Maine Road Hooded Jacket, taking its namesake from the football club's previous home ground.
The Home Maine Road Football Top combines vintage sportswear with Pretty Green's signature paisley, decorating the top as an allover faded print, available in blue and white.
Completing the look, the tracksuit pairs the Maine Road Track Top and Maine Road Track Pants, featuring both brand logos and the paisley print.
The collection is available at pretty green.com and selected retailers with clothing priced £65-£130.

Dolce & Gabbana exhibition in Rome: Love letter to Italian culture

With more than 200 unique haute couture pieces on display across 14 themed rooms, the exhibition celebrates Dolce & Gabbana's universe. Whether exploring references to Italian opera, folklore, architecture, or traditional theatre, one theme remains central: exceptional craftsmanship.'I feel like I learned not only about different techniques, but also about Italian culture and the various cities in Italy,' one visitor said. 'My personal style doesn't align with Dolce & Gabbana's,' added another, 'but I was surprised by how emotional I felt visiting the exhibition today. What we see here isn't the work of machines, but of human hands.' Throughout the exhibition, there are strong references to Sicily - the birthplace of Domenico Dolce and a constant source of inspiration for the brand - as well as to other iconic places. A guest from Naples told Euronews: 'I think it's a representation of Italy. When you look at the pieces, you see the country. I really liked how it highlights Sicily and Sardinia, but also other parts of Italy. I even spotted Naples, where I'm from. And seeing a painting of Sophia Loren - that was truly beautiful.' The Rome edition of the exhibition features three new rooms, including one dedicated entirely to Italian cinema. More than just fashion, From the Heart to the Hands is a celebration of the people, places, and passion behind Italy's enduring cultural legacy - as seen through the lens of two of its most influential fashion designers.

K-Way names Marco D'Avanzo head of international business

K-Way has hired an outerwear expert to spearhead the next phase of its international expansion drive. The France-born brand, now owned by Italian group BasicNet, has recently appointed Marco D'Avanzo as chief international business officer. D'Avanzo comes from Canadian high-end outerwear brand Moose Knuckles, which he joined in 2016 as executive vice-president global sales, based in Milan. He will still be based in Milan in his new role at K-Way. In the course of his career, D'Avanzo has worked at Woolrich, Guess, Versace and Benetton, and has now joined a thriving, growing sportswear brand. K-Way is, alongside Kappa, one of the mainstays of BasicNet, which still holds a 60% stake in the brand, while the remaining 40% was acquired at the end of last year by investment firm Permira, via its Permira Growth Opportunities II investment fund. K-Way has a strong market position in Europe, notably in France and Italy, and is positioned in the premium segment. Last year, K-Way dropped a first collaboration with US label Ulla Johnson, which was showing in New York. Previous collaborations for K-Way include names like Play Comme des Garçons, Maison Kitsuné, Soeur, Diemme, Tiny Cottons and Agnès b. They have all contributed to boosting K-Way's visibility, as it aims to enter new markets. In 2024, BasicNet reported that the total business volume generated by its brands was in the region of €1.19 billion, three quarters of which was produced in Europe.
