Crude Oil Outlook: Bullish Catalysts Emerge Amid Geopolitical Tensions
*** Bias shift to Neutral / Bullish from Neutral
WTI Crude Oil Futures (May)
Yesterday's Settlement: 66.91 up +0.16 [+0.24%]
WTI Crude oil futures settled marginally higher yesterday. Crude settlement is made official at 1:30pm CST, right when the Fed meeting began.
The Fed yesterday issued a hawkish and darkened outlook on the U.S. economy yesterday alongside a more elevated forward path of their projected 'neutral' rate. Despite this, equity markets rallied after the meeting. At this point, it looks like most of this negative sentiment has been priced in, at least in equity markets.
The Russian – Ukraine ceasefire has all but fallen through while Israel continues to lash out against Middle Eastern foes military. The upside to crude still looks attractive.
Today, May Futures are lower by -0.04 to 66.87
Yesterday's EIA report showed a strong surge in U.S. exports of petroleum and petroleum products. The Russian – Ukraine ceasefire looks to be in serious jepordy as Russia struck Ukrainian energy assets overnight. Alongside the Middle Eastern conflict ramping, catalysts are trending bullish.
The one deterrent to our more bullish tilt is the possibility of a Dollar strength coming through. With the Fed's higher outlook for their neutral rate, flows into U.S. treasury's once this government shutdown is sorted out could reverse the dollar weakness we've seen to start the year

Hypothetical performance results have many inherent limitations, some of which are described below. No representation is being made that any account will or is likely to achieve profits or losses similar to those shown. In fact, there are frequently sharp differences between hypothetical performance results and the actual results subsequently achieved by any particular trading program.
One of the limitations of hypothetical performance results is that they are generally prepared with the benefit of hindsight. In addition, hypothetical trading does not involve financial risk, and no hypothetical trading record can completely account for the impact of financial risk in actual trading. For example, the ability to withstand losses or to adhere to a particular trading program in spite of trading losses are material points which can also adversely affect actual trading results. There are numerous other factors related to the markets in general or to the implementation of any specific trading program which cannot be fully accounted for in the preparation of hypothetical performance results and all of which can adversely affect actual trading results.

U.S. stocks start week with little movement, dollar climbs
NEW YORK, New York - There was little movement on Wall Street Monday as investors awaited news from the summit in DC involving European leaders, President Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, News also filtered through that Hamas had accepted a proposed 60-day ceasefire with Israel. Investors continue to weight the future of U.S. interest rates with Federal Reserve Chair Jay Powell to address Jackson Hole on Friday for the last time in his tenure at the central bank. "Today is a day more of listlessness in the markets, where we're just waiting to see what happens from the big retailers and then the main event on Friday with Jerome Powell," Brian Jacobsen, chief economist at Annex Wealth Management told Reuters Monday.. The Standard and Poor's 500 inched down just 0.65 points to end the session at 6,449.15, a fractional decline of 0.01 percent. The benchmark index showed signs of fatigue after recent strong gains, with sectors such as utilities and energy weighing on performance. The Dow Jones Industrial Average also edged lower, falling 34.30 points to finish at 44,911.82—a drop of 0.08 percent. Losses in industrial and consumer staples names were offset by gains in some financial stocks, resulting in a largely flat close. Tech stocks showed resilience, with select chipmakers and software companies helping keep the index in positive territory Global Currency Markets Mixed as US Dollar Holds Firm The foreign exchange market saw mixed movements on Monday, with the US dollar showing strength against several major counterparts, buoyed by economic resilience and expectations of interest rate stability. Euro and Pound Weaken Against the Dollar The euro declined 0.29 percent against the US dollar, with the EUR/USD pair last trading at 1.1669. The drop came amid cautious sentiment in the eurozone, where weak industrial data and ongoing political uncertainty weighed on the shared currency. Similarly, the British pound lost ground. Commodity Currencies Show Diverging Trends The Canadian dollar held relatively steady, with the USD/CAD rate dipping just 0.06 percent to 1.3805. Crude oil prices remained range-bound, offering limited support to the loonie. The Australian dollar slipped slightly, with the AUDUSD pair trading at 0.6493, down 0.16 percent on the day. The NZDUSD pair was quoted at 0.5924, marking a gain of 0.08 percent. The kiwi found some support from firm domestic data and modest US dollar weakness during the session. Both currencies remain sensitive to upcoming US economic releases and any signals from the Federal Reserve later in the week. @ the Bell: Markets turn cautious ahead of key economic events and earnings reports
Canada's top stock index edged higher on Monday as investors took a cautious stance ahead of a packed week that includes Ukraine peace negotiations, a major US Federal Reserve conference, and key domestic inflation figures. According to Statistics Canada, foreign investors injected C$709 million into Canadian securities in June—marking their first net investment since January. At the same time, Canadian investors significantly increased their exposure to international markets, purchasing C$9.0 billion in foreign securities, primarily US equities and non-US bonds. Meanwhile, US markets traded at the flatline after a strong performance last week driven by optimism over potential interest rate cuts from the Federal Reserve.
