Conway rides his luck to lead New Zealand to comfy T20 win over Zimbabwe
Conway was dropped on 1, should have been run out on 34, survived a strong lbw appeal and miscued shots all over Harare Sports Club that happened to land safely.
He ended up hitting the winnings runs, pulling Trevor Gwandu to the midwicket boundary for New Zealand to win with 6.1 overs to spare.
Zimbabwe was made to bat first and scored only 120-7, and New Zealand replied with 122-2, Conway top-scoring with an unbeaten 59 off 40 balls, his first T20 half-century in 17 months.
'Got a bit lucky early and fortunate I got through that period,' Conway said. 'It was nice to spend some time in the middle.'
New Zealand has two wins from two games in the T20 tri-series with South Africa.
Zimbabwe opening batters Wessly Madhevere and Brian Bennett greeted the New Zealanders aggressively. But the run rate was falling from eight an over even before Bennett, 20 off 19, gave Henry his first wicket at the end of the powerplay.
New Zealand could count on three spinners to Zimbabwe's one, and Mitchell Santner and Rachin Ravindra put the brakes on the home side. The only other decent scorer was Madhevere, who backed away to hit Adam Milne to the off side and lost his off stump after 36 off 32 balls.
Henry took 3-26 and Santner and Ravindra a wicket each.
When New Zealand batted, Blessing Muzarabani dropped Conway in the first over but made up for it by dismissing Tim Seifert in the second.
As Conway rode his luck, Ravindra was on the charge with three consecutive boundaries off Gwandu and a six over deep backward point. His 30 off 19 lifted New Zealand more than halfway to the target.
Conway didn't look comfortable until he was in the high 30s, but he and Daryl Mitchell, 26 off 19, steered New Zealand home by a wide margin.
Zimbabwe plays South Africa next on Sunday.

India enjoy ‘epic crossover' with visit to Man Utd
Manchester United welcomed the India cricket team to Carrington on Sunday as part of 'an epic crossover' between two of the world's most followed sport teams. The Red Devils opened pre-season with a 0-0 draw against Leeds on Saturday in Stockholm and welcomed some special guests to the training ground the following morning. India are in town ahead of the key fourth Test against England getting under way at Emirates Old Trafford on Wednesday, with their players and staff mixing with United counterparts at Carrington. The Board of Control for Cricket in India called it 'an epic crossover' in a post on X, which showed their team and the hosts mingling in one another's shirts with personalised names. India captain Shubman Gill said: 'It's very exciting to be able to meet top athletes in the world from another sport, to get to know their stories is very inspiring. 'You're playing two different sports, but the mindset that you play with is most of the times very similar.' Gill spoke with United skipper Bruno Fernandes about their respective roles, while head coach Gautam Gambhir chatted to counterpart Ruben Amorim. 'It was a nice interaction – what his ideology is towards team sport and what my ideology is towards team sport,' Gambhir said. 'The basic foundation of a team sport is very similar, where I feel that I think it's the players that adapt to what the team needs rather than the team that adapts to a certain individual. 'That is the culture which we want to build.' Indian spinner Kuldeep Yadav seemed to particularly enjoy the experience and picked Amorim's brains about his approach for the new season. 'I was looking forward to talking to Ruben,' he said. 'I've been following him from Sporting. 'I asked him few questions about the tactics, whether they're going to stick with the 3-4-3 this season. 'I had a chance to chat to Casemiro about how I admire him as a player and, yeah, it was very nice.' Yadav later posted a picture of him with the Portuguese on X with the caption: 'Sharing football knowledge with the man who's redefining the game.' India arrive in Manchester trailing England 2-1 in the five-Test series, while United head to the United States for their pre-season tour on Tuesday.

India blow as Nitish Kumar Reddy ruled out of rest of England series
India all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy will miss the remainder of the Test series against England due to a knee injury. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has confirmed Reddy will fly home to begin his rehabilitation. Arshdeep Singh has also been ruled out of the fourth Test against England in Manchester with a thumb injury. The fourth Test at Old Trafford starts on Wednesday. 'He [Arshdeep] sustained an impact injury to his left thumb while bowling in the nets at a training session in Beckenham," the BCCI said in a statement. "The BCCI medical team is monitoring his progress." With seamer Akash Deep nursing a groin issue, India could be left with no choice but to play pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah in the Manchester test beginning on Wednesday. India had planned to limit Bumrah's workload after the pacer had back surgery early this year, and he was due to be available for only one of the remaining two tests. England lead the five-match series 2-1. Additional reporting: Reuters
